An early trailer of Team ICO's next PlayStation 3 game was leaked today. It's called Trico for now, but that'll probably change just like how Shadow of the Colossus was originally named Nico. Anyway, here's the trailer (view it in youtube for HD version):

I think it looks interesting. Designer Fumito Ueda mentioned earlier that the game is similar to ICO, with elements from SotC, and it shows. Having liked both games, I'll probably like this one too. On the other hand, there's something disappointing about it. It could be how it looks too similar to the previous games, or how the kid's model looks bad. It's still a trailer, and the final product might be different; even if it weren't, it's more me having huge expectations for the new game and getting something that seems more incremental than revolutionary. That said, I'm looking forward to it. It's the reason I justify getting a PS3 for after all...

"Snake, we're not tools of the government, or anyone else. Fighting was the only thing... the only thing I was good at. But... at least I always fought for what I believed in"

I'm here to talk about subliminal messages in rock-and-roll music... or as it's simply known in some cultures-- rock music. For years the government has been wisely coercing teenagers... to buy products they normally wouldn't want just to get their money.

Fact: Kids don't have bills to pay.
Fact: They don't pay taxes.

But they do baby-sit and hold minimum-wage jobs... that earn them wads of cash as thick as, well, my body of work. But these kids today aren't dumb. They're not going to buy just anything. That's why the government has been planting small subliminal advertising suggestions... in today's rock music. The results? We can now get these kids to buy just about anything. We can have them chasing a new trend every week, and that is good for the economy. What's good for the economy is good for the country.

This might be a finished game, but I'll leave it in G&DA because: 1) Can't be bothered to make a no-RTP version. 2) It's more of a G&D event than a real game, I'm not looking for criticism or anything.

ALEX IS is the product of a collaborative event where people were asked to create a map or more in two days (though in reality it took a bit more), and submit their creations to be combined in a very random and light hearted game. It is the fourth game in the series (ALEX III can be found here, and ALEX here), and is also the first to not feature RTP Alex as the main character..

This time, you play as Alexis, the RTP heroin who is accused of killing Carol, the magician love interest of Alex. Alexis is thrown into a vast wasteland known as The Wasteland of Endless Illusions, where she wanders around in circles and witnesses horrific hallucinations and illusions. The story is just an excuse though, and each map is unique and doesn't have to follow the storyline. Aside from the intro and ending, this game has 36 maps or parts, sent by 34 people (35 if you count me).

Here are some screenshots:

Before I give you the download. I'd like to thank everyone who contributed. I can't say I enjoyed putting the maps together and testing them endless times, but I hope people will like the final product, and excuse any errors on my part (I can only do so much...). Also thanks to the testers, to Lars, and to Liman. I appreciate it guys!!!

Notes (READ THIS):
  • RTP required
  • Many maps could be skipped by simply dying/losing
  • There could be some bugs, but no game breaking ones... as far as I know.
  • If you get a "not implemented" error, it's a problem with your MP3 playback. You could replace the mp3s in the music folder with midis or look for the MP3 patch.
  • Have fun!

Appearently this premiered in several film festivals last year and is due to be released soon (if not already), Son of Rambow is a coming-of-age story about two kids trying to make their own version of First Blood (Rambo).

Quote from: Wikipedia
Set in "A long, hot summer in the early '80s", the film is a gentle coming-of-age comedy. It tells the story of two schoolboys who are inspired by Rambo: First Blood (which they see on a pirate videotape) to make their own action adventure film. Lee Carter (Will Poulter) — the worst-behaved boy in school — has access to home video equipment as he helps his brother's video pirating enterprises. Will (Bill Milner) couldn't be more different; quiet and shy he comes from a family who belong to the strict Plymouth Brethren religious sect; he is forbidden to watch films or television. When he gets caught up with Carter and accidentally sees First Blood, he is blown away, and becomes Carter's willing co-star and stuntman.

Their film takes on a chaotic life of its own, as they fight to keep control of it, and also to keep it secret from Will's family. Ultimately it changes the lives of both boys, and their relationships with their friends and families.

The trailer is really cool, and it sounds like one of those funny light-hearted kids movies. I personally can't wait to see it. What about you guys??

EDIT: Nevermind, I got the Acer~

Oi,

So I want to buy a new laptop and I've come across several deals that I could possibly afford but I'm not sure which would be the best choice. Before I post the specs of laptops I found I'll tell you a bit about my needs... I need something that'd last and that wouldn't need replacement next year. I don't play games regularly, but when I do, I'd play mostly RTS games like C&C3 or World in Conflict. I'm not much of a gamer but I had a crappy integrated 128 mb video card in my current/old laptop but it didn't work well for many games, so a decent VGA would be nice. RAM is not much of a problem because I could upgrade that relatively cheap. Disk space isn't a big problem either because I have a big external hard disk, but more space wouldn't hurt. I watch movies a lot, so a nice screen is a plus. I also do a lot of programming and some photo editing.

So here are some of the options I have. They're all in the $800-1000 range that I could afford, and all come with some sort of warranty. Sometimes specific information is lacking because I don't have any more information right now.

It seems that L-Block from Tetris is winning the character battle they keep having at GameFAQs, the one where Cloud or Link win each time. I don't really care for GameFAQs or their stupid polls, but seeing L-Block ahead was really nice.... (even though it's probably a joke by some lame community like somethingawful or 4chan or whatever)

I know this is probably a bad topic but..... come on, it's L-Block! I doubt anyone actually thought it'd go that far, and this would probably upset all those people who participate in the voting scores contest or whatever, as they all probably have Link or Cloud as the winner. Take that fanboys! (and we all know people who vote for any of the big characters probably do it for the game, not the character. Cloud is one of the worst character in FF7, for example)

L-Block for president! :D

Ho
Let's throw in some ideas for the next Chain Game. Stuff like what engine/maker to use, guidelines and ways to make sure we don't repeat past mistakes, new ideas to make the game more fun, gameplay systems (levelling vs. skills vs. whatever) etc.

Here's an idea by Kaempfer: Each chapter can be assigned a randomly selected title and you'd have to make the chapter somehow relevant to that title (like the topic in Post 9/11 world where people make comics based on a random title generator). I think it could be interesting.

So, what do you think? Any thoughts of your own? etc.~~
