So my HDD with all my music on it recently crashed. Luckily, it's all on my ipod. However, I can't seem to find a program that can effectively transfer all the files off my ipod and onto my computer.

Does anyone have any good programs that can do this?

I've been reading a lot of webcomics lately, and thought they could use some discussion here on GW.

I'll start with some of my favourites:

Least I Could Do: While generally quite crude, it is also absolutely hilarious. The art and characters are great, as well as the writing. Also offers the occasionally political comment and can be quite nerdy at times. I love this one.

Cyanide & Happiness: How could I not mention this? It's a classic and never ceases to put out great material.

Ctrl+Alt+Del: While not always funny, it has good characters and storylines, and I enjoy reading it.

Now, what are your favourite webcomics, GW?

So I've been listening to alot of Dredg and Mew lately and was wondering if there are any more good bands like them.

Also stuff like Fleet Foxes is pretty good. Mostly anything in that type of genre.

Thanks!

http://blog.last.fm/2009/03/24/lastfm-radio-announcement

This really sucks for anyone outside of those three areas. Not that I use Last.FM radio alot, but it still sucks to not have that option anymore on the odd occasion that I would use it. Nonetheless, I'm sure this move will piss a lot of people off.

What do you guys think?

I swear I've posted this exact thread 50 times at various sites and still have not gotten any solutions.

Whenever I enter the Medical Pavilion, the game crashes when it says "Saving." on the loading screen.

I have disabled absolutely everything in the menu, high-detail shaders, high-detail whatever, EVERYTHING. Nothing works, the game still crashes.

I've reinstalled the game twice. Still doesn't work.

I restarted the game and played up to the same point again. Guess what happened? It crashed.

Nothing works. I want to play this game already!

Someone please help me!

Oh. System specs:
Intel Core 2 2.4 GHz
2.5 GB of RAM
Nvidia GeForce 7950 GT 512 MB
Windows XP SP3

I thought I'd totally rip of Juris here and post my debate resolutions here.

"This House Believes That the right to a free press is a higher priority than the right to a fair trial."

For the sake of this topic, argue which is more important.

Now, it is important that both of these rights are upheld in the best possible manner. However, the media does tend to place biases on anything they are covering. This can, one way or another, affect the jury's decision, and will ultimately violate the defendant's right to a fair trial. Obviously, no good can come of this. For example, take a look at the case of Sheppard v. Maxwell, 1966. In 1954, Sam Sheppard was convicted of the murder of his wife. However, Sheppard claimed a third person had committed the crime, but nobody believed him.

How is this an example of the negative affects of the media? Well, before the trial, newspaper headlines screamed: "Why isn't Sam Sheppard in Jail?" Furthermore, the media had taken over the courtroom. Sam Sheppard could not whisper in the ear of his counsel without someone overhearing it. The Supreme Court eventually ruled that Sheppard was unfairly convicted. In his retrial, he was acquitted of all charges. This is only one example of where the media will negative affect the trail, and breach a defendant's rights.

Secondly, seeing as both are constitutional rights, they should be treated equally. Neither should have priority over the other. If we give priority to the press over the rights of a trial, that is only the first of many. It will escalate to other rights in other situations, and we will just end up with a mess on our hands. Every right should be provided to every citizen in an equal matter. None are more important than the others.

So, what are your thoughts?

So my Acne has really been acting up recently and I have no idea why. It was fine up until about Christmas and then it just got crazy and is now covering my cheeks, which is really ugly.

I have Clean and Clear facial scrub, as well as some other product that I can't remember the name of, and neither of them seem to work. In fact, it is just getting worse!

Now I'm sure other members have had similar problems, so what did you guys do to get rid of it? More importantly, what did you to keep it away?

I will start by saying that I absolutely hate iTunes, but am forced to use it because I have an iPod.

Anyways, I like all my albums to have album art associated with them, because it looks nice(r) and I'm weird like that. However, there are certain songs/albums that will not allow album art. It's really annoying to me. I haven't really tried anything because I don't know what to do or what is causing the problem. Google comes up with a bunch of totally unrelated links, so that doesn't help much.

Thus, I am hoping that someone here knows what's happening and how to fix it.

So there is this REALLY bitchy girl in my class, and she never fucking stops bitching. I swear, every word that comes out of her mouth, she is bitching at someone.

Anyways, I dealt with it for a while, kept quiet, tried not to get angry, and I must say, it was fucking difficult. She really pushed me to the edge. Today though, I finally snapped.

She was saying something about how she got low marks, and the teacher told her she needs to speak more. And then she bitched about how he was wrong and she was NEVER going to speak, but she really needs better marks. So I come in and point out that perhaps if she listened to the teacher, she would get better marks. So she just goes apeshit and starts talking about how the teacher doesn't know what he's talking about, and apparently, neither do I. I call her a fucking bitch, tell her to shut the fuck up, and walk away.

So I see her later that day, and she is bitching STILL. She never fucking stops!

So my question is, how do I deal with her, Gaming World? Perferably in a legal manner. I need her to stop before I kill her myself.

Since nobody wants to reply to my old topic:

My custom themes no longer work. I had the uxtheme.dll installed, and my theme was working fine. I come back a week later, after being on vacation, the theme was reset to the windows classic and I couldn't change to the custom themes anymore. I tried reinstalling the uxtheme.dll multi-patcher, and it still doesn't work.

So whenever I mouse-over something that displays text for something it will display like normal. However, when I put my mouse onto a blank area, it will display the mouse-over text from the earlier time. It is not much of a problem, but it is really annoying, so I would like be able to fix it.

As you can see, that is obviously not what is supposed to display there when I sit my mouse still.

Alright so this thread is all about concerts! Which concerts have you recently attended? What did you think of those concerts? Which concerts are you going to attend soon? Basically this is the place to talk about concerts.

So I will start.

I am going to attend two concerts in May. The first of that being Progressive Nation, featuring Dream Theater, Opeth, Between the Buried and Me, and 3. I am really fucking pumped for this one as Between the Buried and Me is pretty much my favourite band right now. Though that is not to take away from how awesome the other three bands are. This is going to be an excellent concert!

The second one is Gigantour, with Megadeth, In Flames, Children of Bodom, Job for a Cowboy, and High on Fire. I am really only going to this one for Megadeth and In Flames. I hate Children of Bodom, and I have never heard of the other two bands.

I would attend Arch Enemy and Iron Maiden, but I am seriously lacking in the money department. So

Now, it's your turn!

So the strike has finally come to an end.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/02/08/AR2008020802592.html?hpid=topnews

Even though it's not formally accepted, it's fairly certain that it will be after the boards vote.
So now them writers can finally get back to writing.
Excellent news!

Me and a friend are having an argument over this.

How much money does the average band make off of touring? What about CD sales? How much percentage of the money from CD sales does a band get on average? I just need basic facts on the income of a band.

EDIT: I also need the same info about a record label.

China seems to have many problems. One of these problems is Tibet. The People's Liberation Army, in China, invaded the Tibetan region of Chamdo in 1950 and crushed all the resistance from the Tibetan army. Under PLA pressure, the Tibetan officials signed an agreement declaring China's sovereignty over Tibet. The provinces of Xikang and Qinghai in the Chinese administrative hierarchy, were outside the administration of the Tibetan government in Lhasa. This resulted in a resistance, which was supported by the CIA, that eventually spread to Tibet's capital, Lhasa. It was, however, stopped by 1959. The events cause the Dalai Lama, as well as other government officials to flee the country to India and the Dalai Lama to declare a Government-in-Exile. To this day, the People's Republic of China still continues to portray their sovereignty over Tibet. Other governments continue to make protests against their rule because of reports of human rights violations, but all still recognize the PRC as the rightful government and not the Government-in-Exile in India. The Spanish high court has announced that they will investigate reports of seven Chinese officials who allegedly participated in a genocide in Tibet. The Chinese government has also stripped a completely religious nation of their beliefs. It is considered a crime to have a picture of the Dalai Lama in your possession or posted anywhere in Tibet. They do not allow the practice of Buddhism anywhere in the country.

The Tibetan Government-in-exile, which includes the 14th Dalai Lama, believes the following:
Quote from: 'The Dalai Lama
During the Vth Dalai Lama's time [1617-1682]' date=' I think it was quite evident that we were a separate sovereign nation with no problems. The VIth Dalai Lama [1683-1706'] was spiritually pre-eminent, but politically, he was weak and disinterested. He could not follow the Vth Dalai Lama's path. This was a great failure. So, then the Chinese influence increased. During this time, the Tibetans showed quite a deal of respect to the Chinese. But even during these times, the Tibetans never regarded Tibet as a part of China. All the documents were very clear that China, Mongolia and Tibet were all separate countries. Because the Chinese emperor was powerful and influential, the small nations accepted the Chinese power or influence. You cannot use the previous invasion as evidence that Tibet belongs to China. In the Tibetan mind, regardless of who was in power, whether it was the Manchus, the Mongols or the Chinese, the east of Tibet was simply referred to as China. In the Tibetan mind, India and China were treated the same; two separate countries.
It has been determined by the International Commission of Jurists that Tibet, during the years 1913-50, demonstrated the conditions of statehood that are generally accepted under international law.
The Tibetan Government believe that the PRC only want Tibet because of it's natural resources and strategic value, and views the rule as colonial and illegitimate. That said, the Dalai Lama has also recently stated that he only wishes for autonomy and not complete separation from China, under certain conditions such as freedom of speech and belief. Many members of the Government-in-Exile do believe the opposite though, that Tibet should be its own country apart from China.

The Government of China has many different views on many different subjects:
Historical Status: The PRC, who have had control over China since 1949, and the Republic of China, who ruled China prior to 1949, maintains the position that Tibet has been a region of China since the Yuan Dynasty seven hundred years ago.
Unique Ethnicity: The current government of China states that every Chinese government has recognized that Tibet has it's own culture and language, but this does not necessarily allow for an independent state.
De facto Independence:  While the ROC government had no effective control over Tibet between 1912 to 1951, it does not constitute Tibet being a completely independent state as many Chinese states were not controlled during periods of warlordism in China.
Foreign Interventions: The PRC considers all proindependence movements aimed at ending Chinese sovereignty in Tibet, including British attempts to establish control in the late 19th century and early 20th century, the CIA's backing of Tibetan insurgents during the 1950s and 1960s, and the Government of Tibet in Exile today, as one long campaign abetted by malicious Western imperialism aimed at destroying Chinese integrity and sovereignty, thereby weakening China's position in the world.
Human Rights: PRC says that the successive Dalai Lama, while controlling Tibet, violated many human rights because the country was essentially a serfdom and people in the country reported seeing slaves. However, the 1959, 1961, and 1961 UN Resolutions condemned the human rights violations that the Chinese had caused in Tibet.
Self-Determination: The earliest ROC all regarded Tibet as a part of China, but Chinese government officials have also acknowledged the principle of self-determination.
Legality:The PRC also points to what it claims are the autocratic, oppressive and theocratic policies of the government of Tibet before 1959, its toleration of existence of serfdom and slaves, its renunciation of Arunachal Pradesh which China regards as a part of Tibet occupied by India, and its association with India and other foreign countries, and as such claims the Government of Tibet in Exile has no legitimacy to govern Tibet and no credibility or justification in criticizing PRC's policies.

As for third-party opinions, no country in the world, including India,  recognizes Tibet as an independent state, nor do they acknowledge the Government-in-Exile despite obvious precedents for these actions to be taken. On the other hand, the Montevideo Convention established the following four criteria for statehood in international law: (a) a permanent population, (b) a defined territory, (c) a government, and (d) capability of entering into relations with other states. Tibet meets all four of these criteria, which means it is allowed to be it's own nation.

Basically, the point of this topic is to hear your opinions on this matter. Do you support China or Tibet? What are any possible solutions to the problem?

Well I set my upload allocation to something really low sometime long ago, and now I want to continue with uploading but I can't figure out how to change it back to normal speeds. All my torrents upload at around 0.1 kb/s and I can't find the option to change it back.

I feel very stupid asking this question because the answer is probably really obvious.

I am running Windows XP professional. Whenever I start up the computer, it logs into one profile automatically. How do I stop it from doing this and just make it go to the main login screen?
