In my game Aptos Adventures (Rpgm 2003), a pair of twins can do dual attacks.
What I want is to make it so the other twin's battle graphic
disappears when this skill is used (the one who uses it
disappears as the battle animation of them attacking is shown).
I guess I could do this with classes but how would you trigger
it when the skill is used?

Not sure if anyone's seen this, but this guy is making a game set in Mattress worlds, he's having people send him pictures of their mattresses to be used in the game.
It looks so funny.

Does anyone know where I can find RPG tsukuru 2003? The reason being I need to do a Japanese translation of my game (I'm a Japanese major) which I want to show Square Enix and Sony Computer Entertainment that I can do game localization when I attend the Boston Career Forum in October.

I can't say I got as much done this year as I would have liked :(
I completed about a quarter of the enemies in clay and then stopped working on it. Then I started recently and made progress on the new chapter 6. I'm adding too much probably. But yeah, there will be a Christmas Present this year, it's not a present hunt like last time, I'll release the opening prologue which I'm sure many have already played, but I added a lot of different things. I'm hesitant to release the latest versions of Aptos Adventures 1 and 2. They are very close to complete, but if you play it now you probably won't want to play it later when it's done.
Oh, so AA1 is maybe 90% done. What I should be working on is the suit system not all this new stuff. But SOME progress on that was made...in January.

AA2 is like maybe 75% done? I'm trying to restrict how much I add because it's already longer than the first game!!

Hopefully I'll have time to finish these games. Then I can release them together as like the Aptos Adventures Saga or something, cuz there's only going to be two.

History: I started working on this game way, way back in 2001. I had a bunch of projects and wanted to actually finish one. Since then I have worked on it on and off when I had time. In 2003 I switched to Rpg maker 2003. in 2006 I finished it, but there were bugs and the sidequests weren't finished.
I don't think it's the best game ever made (that's AA2  :P but if you like games that don't take themselves too seriously like OMGZ final fantasy ripoff 9993984 then I think you'll like it. It's kinda like Earthbound. There aren't too many funny games out there anymore so I wanted to make a game that could be funny.

Story: The story is somewhat LOOSELY based on my life in high school. Most of the characters were my friends from high school and it takes place in my hometown of Aptos, California (though it looks nothing like it) located in the greater Santa Cruz "Archipelago". The year is 20XX, (okay, like 2003 if we're going by which of my classes are in the game  :gwa:​)
Nick is an ordinary high school student about to start his first day of a new semester. Meanwhile his family is kidnapped by a vengeful teacher. What begins as a quest to rescue them unfolds into an EPIC BATTLE TO SAVE THE WORLD. Yeah, it's cliche, but what do you expect, I was like 16 when I started making this.
Aptos Adventures 2 will have a way better story, instead it's an EPIC BATTLE TO SAVE THE UNIVERSE.

-8 chapters, the game is about 30 hours long, but if you don't use suits, it makes game harder and 10-12 hours long (short but sweet. I hate games that have filler

I made this for my brother who wanted to make something like the Icarus wings in Toejam and earl.
It could be used in any game were you can fly. Theres some explanations in the comments
of the events. check it out!

So I used to work with this creepy guy at Baskin Robbins named Paul, I always thought he was a character so now I'm making a game about him! He also has a pet rat which aids him on his quest.
The game starts off in the year 4,055, in a story paul wrote about a robotic robin hood. ROBOHOOD.
The game will take place both in 4,055 and 2005, switching off between Robohood and Paul as playable characters.
IN A WORLD WHERE THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS WRONG...ONE MAN MUST MAKE A STAND.

I thought I'd share this, since A) I'm bored waiting for my class to start and B) It was a neat idea I thought of.
For example,
I was making a dodgeball minigame in my game Aptos Adventures II.
You can use this for anything where a character has to walk to something besides the hero,
sort of like pathfinding made easy.
In order for the enemy to walk up to the ball, I had to do this:

Make a parallel process event and set up X and Y variables of the sprite for the ball and then ones for the enemy.
Make another parallel process event (this can be another page on the enemy event)
Condition- If Ball X >
Enemy X: Move enemy Right
Wait .2 seconds

If Ball X < enemy X: move left
wait .2 seconds

If  Ball Y < Enemy Y: Move up
Wait .2 seconds

If Ball Y > Enemy Y: Move down

If Ball X= enemy X and
Ball Y= Enemy Y

Move event- enemy- change GFX to sprite w/ ball
(then make him move toward the hero and throw the ball or something)

That's just a small example, but I hope you guys can find that useful.
The dodgeball game is only in a short section of my game, but
check it out when I release the next demo.

I'm just wondering if it's possible to make timed hits like in Mario RPG and paper mario within the default RPG Maker 2003 battle system? I would really like to implement that in my game.

Wow, I just got some personal messages here that I hadn't seen....from 3 and 4 years ago! It seems like my game Tales West was more popular than I thought. I think I'll have to get back to working on it then!  :)
Although right now Aptos Adventures II is taking up a lot of my time.

I need to fix a lot of things about the ABS in Tales West, specifically the LAG! I have over 100 events on each map and I maxed out the size of the maps. I really should not be using rm2k3 for this...
but I don't know how to program. Anyway I'm going to try to work out these kinks, I have a temporary solution largely mitigating the lag, which makes it a random encounter system and then a separate map with the ABS, but its jarring and I think it takes away from the fun of the Action Battle system. I just did a replay through Secret of Mana, great game...I got a similar ring menu system working in a test which I want to implement. I love how you can level up everything in that game, and the battle system is a blast.

I think the solution for the lag will be to cut the large maps into small little ones with fewer enemies onscreen, although I was very pleased with what I accomplished how the enemies detect you when they are in screen with the player, and the detailed almost Grand Theft Auto style of map  :woop:

I'll let you guys download the current demo, but be warned it has horrible slowdown on the larger maps, but this can be somewhat solved by riding your horse, just don't get off!

Collecting Silver Stars- Hidden in treasure chests throughout the game world are silver stars. Something will happen when you reach 100... !!

Bounty Hunting- Catch criminals and claim your reward.

I'm replaying Mario RPG because I got it for Christmas. On the actual SNES mind you, not the Wii virtual console. I think it's still superior to the Paper Mario and Mario and Luigi series. Except for Superstar Saga.
It has more memorable characters. Geno, and the added personality of Bowser, who pretends to be tough in front of Mario, it's hilarious. AXEM RANGERS. Oh and Booster was great too. It's so funny when he's trying to marry Toadstool and if you don't grab her items you get kissed by Bowser and Booster!
The puzzles are so good. The Pirate Ship was one of the funnest parts in the game. When you have to guess the word, I forgot what it was when I played it 2 years ago (and I probably cheated then). I SWORE it was Oyster and I got so pissed off at the game. And then I solved it without resorting to GameFaq's: Pearls!! I felt so accomplished! I didn't get it until I had the letters P E _ L S right in front of my face, and it triggerd a memory from my childhood.
The minigames are abundant and fun. Toadofsky's music compositions, Midas River, Yoshi racing, Beetle gathering, the gameboy game you get, and more. AND you can fight Culex from Final Fantasy II (IV)!.
Even though the graphics are arguably kind of a mixed bag I prefer them over the cartoony style of the later games.
The battle system is also better. Whereas in the later games the action timed attack are WAY too simplified, it makes the battles fast and enjoyable.
I have fond memories of this game as an 11 year old kid. I bought it on a trip to Kansas with money from my dad. It was $60! And when the internet was in its infancy I visited crappy websites with animated mario gifts and midi's from the game lol. Unfortunately around 2004 my brother decided to give the game to our friend for his birthday. We both replayed it Christmas 2007 on an emulator. But playing on the SNES is alot funner.
The only improvement the later series have added are Surprise attacks if you jump on the enemy on the map screen. I only liked the first Paper Mario on N64 and Superstar Saga.
You can tell this game was a labor of love to Square and Nintendo's fans.

Making progress on AA2, hopefully there will be a new demo this summer! I'm planning on making the demo's longer rather than releasing one every chapter, they'll be every 2-3 chapters. can anyone recommend me some Japanese music? I'm learning Japanese and I want something that's easy to understand.
my tastes are more towards metal but I like a of rock and might even delve into pop if it has a good singer.
Here's some bands I know of and what I think of them:
X Japan- not too big on the ballads but I like the heavier metal stuff like kurenai
Gackt- I like the song Redemption. That's about it most of the stuff sounds the same.
L'Arc~En~Ciel- were alright. Don't know what songs are best though.
Onmyouza- I liked the song I heard
Blood Stain Child- I don't like techno
Maximum the Hormone- I couldn't get into them.

"Lexx is a science fantasy television series that follows the adventures of a group of mismatched individuals aboard the organic space craft Lexx. They travel through two universes and encounter planets including a parody of our own.

Anyone else love this show? I just got to season 3 and I'm liking it more. I thought season 2 dragged and I thought having the Shadow be part of Mantrid was stupid because he was so cool and evil and had a sexy evil darth-vader wannabe voice in season 1.
Season 1 was really cool because of His Shadow.

Although it's corny it's got a cool story and characters, and attempts to be ORIGINAL unlike Star Trek and all those other wannabe shows. It's also nice how it doesn't take itself TOO seriously i.e. caring about Dilithium Crystals and quantum physics and all that stuff that nobody cares about.

Each of the four seasons change things up significantly to keep it interesting.
Season 1 is about the characters escape from the tyrannical planet and fighting His Shadow in the Dark Universe;
Season 2 the crew of the Lexx try to find a planet suitable for their needs i.e. Hunger, Sex in the Light Universe;
Season 3 has the Crew wake up after 4000 years in the Dark Universe caught in a war between two planets of Fire and Water;
Season 4 takes place on Earth.
