Now, this all came about as I have played my first couple of gigs with my band in the past weeks, and am also going to see one of my heros, Neil Young later tonight.

As far as playing gigs goes, I have never had more fun doing something I am getting paid for. It was an exhilarating experience that I hope to continue to do for a long time.

But, on the other hand, I rarely go to see other bands, especially small ones like my own. The only people I have gone to see are Bob Dylan and a Pink Floyd Tribute band.

The harddrive in my ibook g4 has broken big time and i'm finding it hard finding info on replacing it. does anyone know if it's possible or not and anything else about it? is it a specific type of hard drive or is it the same as any laptop HD?

Now, i've always been a big fan of Fat Freddy's Drop's first album Based on a True Story because of its slow dub/reggae/mellow kinda feel to it. If I smoked weed this would probably be the best album to do it to i guess (other than DSoTM). The music was always really well put together and well written, plus arranged cleverly with no track under 5 minutes yet without it sounding repetitive. When I heard they were recording a new album, I just couldn't wait.

Today I decided to hop on over to FFD's website to check on the progress and what do ya know? It's been released! They even have a sampler of all the tunes. I listened to them and it seems they have gone it quite a new direction indeed.

It appears they have become more jazz/hip hop influenced with more synthesized basslines and extended chords giving a (relatively) more upbeat feel to the album.

Obviously I can't fully comment on the style not having heard it start to finish, but after the sampler I am excited to find they still maintain a good standard.

i've just downloaded bought about 2600 gameboy/colour games and i'm guessing around 90% of them are absolutely terrible.

Can anyone help me root out the good ones?

So far i've found these decent ones:

Adventure Island I and II
Pokemon Games (obv)
Legend of Zelda
Game and Watch Gallery 2
Game boy gallery 3 (same as above but in colour)
Gameboy Wars (older advance wars but japanese tho -_-)
Battletoads
Mega Man II - V
Rockman lol
Lemmings (haven't checked if this is anygood actually)

we just went on to someones computer after about an hour of doing other shit, and the fan was going crazy and it turns out that the cpu was running full whack.

all that was open was firefox and outlook express so we checked task manager and it was firefox that was using up all the CPU. at around 94-99%.

is there any reason for this? anyway to fix it? anyone else even heard of this before? or should we just use a different browser?


EDIT: on another firefox-related note, since i've installed AVG when i type a url wrong or something it goes to a different page, some AVG search thing instead of just saying its wrong. can i change this?

I was recommended this album from a friend, who was talking about how 2009 has been a great year for music so far, so I took them up on their word and got this album.

The style is mostly electronic, but is really upbeat and fun. I really enjoyed this album straight from the first track, and I would suggest anyone interested in electronic, indie or just pop music in general to get it.

The yeah yeah yeahs is a female vocalist, a guitarist and a drummer, based in new york. It's Blitz is there 3rd album, and they say it is a different sound to their earlier work, "but still sounds like the yeah yeah yeahs" according to the band.

Has anyone else listened to this album? Anyone enjoy it as much as I do?[/center]

i just got my new laptop and just got steam, and i was just scouting for some game gifts if anyones got any that they aint gonna use

cant play the newer games like l4d, but anything around HL2 is fine :3 love you guys

Right so i just got a mid to low spec laptop and its completely bare apart from XP and Firefox atm.

I haven't started from scratch in a LONG time so i'm kinda behind what shit i should get.

Is AVG still free?
What programs can i not live without and so on.

I'll e using the laptop for internet, GMing, GWing, Makking music (recording and sequencing), a bit of gaming (but not much).

So yeh can i get suggestions on what softwares and games to grab?

can someone tell me the equation for a quadratic curve that has roots at 0 and 8000 and a peak at (4000,1)?

i'm dumb and cant do it but i need it for my game

What other forums do you go to? (Don't put up a hundred links to SA and 4chan, noboy cares about them...)

So I found this CD in my bro's old room, after he moved out, and I listened to it and it was the BEST thing I had heard in a LOOONG time.

It's Fat Freddy's Drop - Based on a True Story

If you EVER get a chance to listen to this band. TAKE IT. There kinda Dub/Reggae/Soul/and a whole bunch of other good shit.

Also, if anyone HAS heard of them, and JUST SO HAPPENS to have any of their music on VYNIL, I would do anything for it. Really.

This topic could have used a little more information on the band, they are a New Zealand group and they are the shit.

Also, how often do you usually change you avatar?

Mine is a portrait of myself, which I made by drawing over a photo :P I cheated. I don't often change my avatar, coz people forget who I am if I do.
