This just came to me as I was thinking about how much I am looking forward to Tekken 6, especially the character customization feature (it's always fun to make fighters look retarded). I realized that, for whatever reason, that was the prime reason for me looking forward to Tekken 6. I had so much fun with the customization in Tekken 5 that I'm anxiously expecting even more customization in Tekken 6.

A few years ago, I picked up another fighter simply for the character creation system. This was Mortal Kombat Armageddon. The actual fighting system stunk and so did the method of unlocking new pieces and moves, but I had a lot of fun with the character creator, probably more than I did with the rest of the game.

This also makes me think of games like Oblivion, where I could spend over half an hour in the prison perfecting my character's appearanc and making them look just the way I wanted.

Nowadays, I find that if a game does not come with any sort of customizable feature (character creator, level editor, or simply changing a character's outfits and hair), I'm not as receptive towards it. i am not sure when this happened, but I just feel let down if I'm not able to control an aspect of the game's presentation or gameplay. I have trouble playing old games which offer little customization and are very linear. This might be why Ogre Battle on the SNES is my favourite game of all time, it's never the same game twice in terms of what's in your army.

The Spore Creature Creator is really sucking me in because of this. It gives you so much control over what your creature and you can literally make almost anything you can imagine, even ripping off other games with impressive results (I'm still kind fond of the Ochu I made).

I'm only looking forward to three games at the moment.
Tekken 6, which has excellent character customization, allowing you to give the fighters all new looks.
Street Fighter 4, which does not appear to have much in terms of customization yet apart from alternate costumes. Still, it's Street Fighter so to hell with customization. It'll be a solid fighter regardless.
And third is Spore.. Probably the most customizable game ever without the use of mods. Spore is a game I must have, as it simply looks like it will be so much fun.

How do you guys feel about customization? Are you like me, feeling a little less receptive towards a game if it lacks customization options? Or do you not care and just crave for a solid game that's fun regardless of its options?

Also what games really stood out to you when it came to customization?

It is no secret that at GW, we have our own.... GW-isms. Little things we do here that make us unique, things that make us Gaming World members. But what are they??

I think we should come up with a list of GW-isms so that we can poke fun at our stupid habits and maybe even put them on GWiki under a FAD section or something.

So hey!! What GW-isms do you know of which are pretty unique, stupid, whatever? I'll get the ball rolling with...

TYPING IN CAPS: Yes, this is done all over the place, but we at GW are a really special case.. Rather than typing in caps to express frustration or capitalizing a specific word to place emphasis on it, we just capitalize whatever the fuck we want that we write. We SORT OF DO IT like this. Random words which have no reason to be CAPITALIZED are, IN FACT, being capitalized. I'm not sure why MEMBERS OF GW do this, but it's pretty goofy!!!

There is my first contribution. Wat else do we do at GW that makes us unique? What defines the members of Gaming World?

(I was going to post this in the Crap Shack, but I think some real discussion and interesting things may be said so let's give it a go, yeah?)

With the Spore Creature Creator getting some decent exposure in and around GW, I thought that it would be a swell idea to get a topic started for Spore's editor in this forum. We have a topic in the Happy Zoo and Sarevok's contest topic, but I think this one would be a bit more.. Multi-purpose, and not following any sort of predetermined structure.

Creature Creator and general information can be found here: http://www.spore.com/

Spore is just over two months away from release (finally!) and lots of people are already hard at work on making creatures for their worlds, as well as for others. I think it could be fun if we posted our own creations for each other to see, comment on, download and tinker with, and offer tips to each other. So yeah! Feel free to post your neat creations (videos, pictures, whatever) without feeling afraid that someone will steal your idea(s) for Sarevok's contest and so forth!

Whenever anyone posts their creatures in a downloable format, I'll add them to this post in the same way I am listing mine directly below.

"But UPRC, how do I download the creatures? They're just images!"
For those who do not know how to import a created creature into the editor.. Here is what you must do. Download a creature such as this this one. Open up the Spore Creature Creator and click the create new creature button. When the workspace loads and you are able to manipulate your blank creature, make sure the game is in windowed mode. Locate the saved picture of the creature and then drag it into the game window. In a a matter of seconds (or less), the creature in the image file will appear in the editor. Yes, it is that simple.

"But UPRC, I'm receiving an error when I try to import a creature!"
Chances are you are using the trial version and are attempting to import a creature created with the full version of the editor. Read carefully before downloading, because I dictate whether or not a creator's creatures require only the trial or the full version. If it still does not work, your image may not be valid, because it is clear that the editor embeds these PNG images with data that enables the importing.

"But UPRC, I'm not creative enough to make unique creatures and I don't understand the editor!"
Don't fret, here are some simple YouTube video tutorials to help you out.

I think we ought to make Esh's "GW's Top 50 Directors" post look like a joke. Let's humiliate Esh with our favourite actors/actresses! We'll compile this amazing list that nobody can argue with and then we will point at Esh and laugh at him! We will laugh at that poor Englishman! Har har har, Esh!

This has nothing (everything) to do with trying to "out do" Esh's directors post, I just think, hey.. We have a general idea as to who GW's favourite directors are, but what about the people who star in their movies, eh? What about those poor saps who entertain millions of people and get paid the big bucks? What about those poor suckers, huh? Well, let's pay tribute to the people who make us smile, laugh, cry, curse, and shout at the TV, monitor, or movie screen!

This is how it's going to go down....

List your five favourite actors or actresses. Why five? Because it's a pretty fair number. Three is good, but man! It's so over-used! I chose five when I did this same thing back in 2003 as well, and it worked out pretty well. Five is cool.. Five is good.. Let's go with five.

Now, you don't have to list your choices in any specific order, I suppose that will be optional. I will order mine from most to least favourite just because I want to, so yeah.. I will tally things this up when the topic starts to die or well, when it just seems like every single conceivable member of GW has contributed to this post. Get crackin' you squares!!

1. Jack Nicholson

If you don't know who this guy is, you've probably been hiding under a rock. Jack Nicholson is, for the most part, most famous for his role in The Shining. Guess what? I haven't seen it. The guy is still my numero uno, and rightfully so. Each and every time he takes on a role, he just nails it. Most of his roles seem to be the angry/sarcastic asshole, and these are roles that he absolutely excels at. If you want to watch a sarcastic prick, this is your man! Ever so often, I've found myself HATING his characters because they are such dicks, but I absolutely love his acting. These days, Jack seems to play the lonely old fart kind of role, and that works for him too. Good on him. Definitely deserves to be at the top of my list.

2. Morgan Freeman

Very awesome actor who has totally refined the art of portraying the "wise old man." Maybe it's because he's had a lot of practice, because it feels like this guy has been in virtually every movie ever made. I wouldn't be surprised if somehow he started appearing in Asian flicks. Anyway, Morgan Freeman just has this.. Something. It's really fascinating to watch him, I think, because he always portrays this soft spoken, wise "elder" sort of figure, and it draws me in. Hell, it captivates me. When he talks, I can't help but listen. He just has such a powerful presence that it's hard not to be sucked in whenever he appears on screen, especially in films like, I don't know, The Shawshank Redemption. Really neat that my top two recently starred in a movie together, The Bucket List. I still have to see that movie.. Morgan Freeman. Awesome.

3. Johnny Depp

This sort of selection would be really hit or miss with people. I'm sure a lot of people would go "UGH JOHNNY DEPP" but really, is there any denying that he's bloody fantastic? The amazing thing about this man is that whatever he is cast as.. Pirate, psychotic factory manager, disturbed writer, or a fucking kitchen toaster (the last has not happened... yet), this guy makes the role HIS. He slips into it and just makes it fit him perfectly. He becomes the character, and it's just.. Amazing. How he does it, I don't know. Take Jack Sparrow for example. I'm sure there are a lot of actors out there who could play the role and still win over a lot of fans, but Johnny Depp made that role his. He did so well at making Jack Sparrow his own character that it felt like he was born to play that role. Destiny. Yes, I'm serious. Sure, Jack Sparrow may not be the best example, but it was an amazing role. Johnny Depp.. Master of bringing characters to life and making them his own.

4. Robin Williams

How can you not like Robin Williams? You can't. What's that, you say don't? Fuck you, yes you do! Robin Williams, aside from his random descents into incoherent rambling, is pretty darn likeable. A lot of people like Robin Williams for his funny roles. He's definitely great at those, for sure. No matter how old you are, whether it be 5, 15, or 50, you can chuckle at this guy's performances. Likewise, his dramatic roles are just as good. No, they're better. Ever see Awakenings? You haven't? Go see it. Now. Robin Williams is so sensational at dramatic roles that he can probably tug at your heart a little. He's amazing at evoking emotions in you, even if his character, on the outside, is not trying to. I think it's mainly in his somber expression and his eyes which just.. Connect with you. Really heavy stuff when he takes on a drama role. He's also pretty good at playing creepy roles. From what I hear, some people were actually BOTHERED by him playing creepy roles. When I say bothered, I do not mean "Robin Williams again? Fuck, no! Get rid of him!" What I mean is.. "Robin Williams was creepy as hell in that movie. I think my girlfriend even peed herself watching him."

5. Tom Hanks

Tom Hanks is just an all around great actor. I don't think I've ever seen him turn in a bad performance. From being stranded on an island, to being a prison warden, and to being mentally challenged or whatever he was as Forrest Gump, he never fails to deliver a fun, believable performance that sucks you in. Like Robin Williams, Tom Hanks is amazing at dramatic roles and can really move you on a level that I don't think other actors of his calibre can. From crying over the loss of his volleyball companion to not knowing how to deal with the execution of a gifted prison inmate, he never fails to make you just stop and go, well, wow. He's turned in some great performances.. Oh yeah, Terminal was an awesome movie too. I forgot to include a reference to it, so there it is.

Honorable Mention: Gregory Peck. Man, I wish I had been born 30 or 40 years earlier so that I could have really appreciated this guy's acting abilities. I've only ever seen him in one movie before, and he was simply amazing to watch.

Your turn, now go. (You do not have to type out wonderful paragraphs like me.. It's just that it's my topic, so I feel that I have a responsibility to do so.)

Hey, we all love to talk about our current favourite games or older games which EVERYONE knows and has played.. But how about those games we all have in our collections, the ones few people know of? I think it is time that we profess our love for these awesome, unknown games.

Here are two from my collection which I have always had a soft spot for.

Destrega (1998)
Platform: Playstation
Developer: KOEI

Quote
The fighting style in the game is unique in many aspects. Movement includes the ability to freely roam the current environment. The X button jumps, while R1 causes the player to dash and L1 blocks. The close range fighting system is like Rock, Paper, Scissors where each type of attack is stronger and weaker than another. The Square button results in a quick (but weak) attack; Triangle a slow and powerful one. Circle allows you to sidestep, allowing an attack by slipping behind your opponent.

After stepping far back, the charge bar changes from Red to Blue, indicating you can use magic attacks. Just like close range there are three attacks. The Fast (Tiou), Power (Est), and Span (Foh). Tiou travels fast but hits weak, Est hits hard but travels slow, and if you are far away, the attack will disappear. Foh fires a multiple blast and does medium damage. Tiou beats Est, Est beats Foh, Foh beats Tiou. Tiou drains the least charge, Foh medium, and Est the most.

You can also combine magic attacks. Different combinations equal different results. There is a Level 1 attack; Tiou, Est, and Foh (3 Combinations). Then there is a Level 2 attack; Tiou Tiou, Tiou Est, Tiou Foh, Est Est, Est Foh, Foh Foh, etc (9 Combinations). All of which can be reversed (EX: Foh Est) Then the Level 3 attack, Tiou Tiou Tiou, Tiou Tiou Est, Est Est Tiou, Foh, Tiou Foh, etc (21 Combinations). Then There is a Level 4 attack, Tiou Est Foh (any order), (1 Combination), which does a powerful long wide attack.

Why I Like It: I remember when I first played this on an old Playstation Magazine demo disc, so it was probably in 1998 and I was most likely 12 at the time. I remember skimming through the games on the demo disc, not finding a whole lot which I was interested in, but then I stumbled across this game on the rotating wheel of demos.
So I hopped into the demo and found two game modes available, arcade and versus. Four selectable characters were present, which seemed like a lot for a demo at the time. I remember trying a swordsman character, Tieme, first. I didn't really know what I was doing at first , I just pressed random buttons until I realized that Square, Triangle, and Circle all performed different moves which behaved differently. Square was your speed attack, triangle was your power attack, and circle was your spread attack.. And then I realized that you could perform them multiple times, combine them, and perform huge attacks which were absolutely devastating.
I played arcade for a while before summoning my brother and kicking his ass for a bit until he came to grips with the demo. Not long after, I brought my best friend over and thrashed him a bunch until, he too, learned the game mechanics. This resulted in some REALLY epic fights as we learned what sort of strategies to use. The most important thing for us to remember was that Destrega was very much a "turn based fighter." Sure, you could move and attack whenever you'd want, but trust me.. You'd be smart to wait until the other guy finished an attack or his energy bar depleted.
I bought the full game last year. A little late, I know, but it was worth it. The game is not surprisingly deep and has next to nothing in the line of unlockables or secrets, but the actual gameplay is very challenging and strategic when you play with a friend. Awesome game which deserved a better score than what the reviewers gave it, with average scores being between 4 and 6. If I were to review the game, I'd give it about a 7.5. The singleplayer game is very weak and repetitive, but multiplayer was a blast and still is. Believe me.

Cardinal Syn (1998)
Platform: Playstation
Developer: 989 Studios

Quote
A 3D fighting game with free roaming features that allows you to move around a small interactive battlefield during combat, similar to the slightly more famed Ehrgeiz. The combatants are designed out of a dark fantasy world similar to Dungeons & Dragons, a great number of them non-human, each armed with melee weapons fitting for the style. The title gave access to combos, juggles, stage hazards, fatalities, projectiles, and battlefield powerups.

Why I Like It: Love this game! Again, first played it on an old Playstation Magazine demo disc and loved it. The demo for Cardinal Syn only had two characters, but they were each pretty badass. One was some sort of Elf named Orion with a staff or something of the sort, and a bitching Dark Knight named Vanguard who wore dark armor and fought with a pretty damn big sword. That guy, Vanguard, is easily my favourite fighting game character ever simply for his sheer awesomeness. Biggest bad-ass ever.
Now, for it's time, Cardinal Syn didn't play any worse than any other fighter out there. It was like.. Bushido Blade, only in closed arenas and with fantasy characters. A knight, skeleton, zombie, jester, dwarf, cyclops and even a giant dragon rounded out the roster for this game.
I bought the game in 1999 or 2000 instead of Final Fantasy Tactics (yeah, you heard me!) and I don't regret it. The disc stopped working after a year or two and I have not played it since.
HOWEVER.. I purchased it off eBay a few days ago and, if I am lucky, it will arrive in the mail tomorrow and I'll kick ass with Vanguard again on my PS3.
Cardinal Syn was another game which received poor ratings from the professional reviewers, but a quick look at a site such as GameFAQs shows that this is NOT a bad game and, had it been advertised properly, would probably have its own claim to fame today as one of the best and most unique fighters on the PS1.

I've come to the realization that a lot of people get ridiculously upset when a fat guy appears in a hot new fighting game. Now, I've only been following NEW fighters for a years, so I have no idea what kind of impact characters like Chang had in the past, but here's what I have observed.

Bo'Rai'Cho (Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance)
I know what the general consensus is when it comes to Mortal Kombat, it's a garbage series. That's true, the games are horribly unbalanced and Boon's crew couldn't make a good fighting engine if their lives depended on it but that is besides the point. Deadly Alliance looked set to reboot the series and make it "cool" again. It looked nothing short of bloody exciting to play and people thought this game would be pretty okay! But then.... Bo'Rai'Cho was introduced.
How did the excited fans react?
"FAT MAN FIGHTING WHAT THE FUCK!!"
"This game is going to suck."
"I'll beat the crap out of anyone who plays with that fat ass."
It was certainly strange seeing people who were excited for the game suddenly turning on it. Personally, I had never seen anything like it. I thought this might have just been a on-off sort of thing because, I mean, it was just a tubby guy in a fighting game. No big deal, right?

Bob (Tekken 6)
Fast forward a few years to 2007. Tekken 6 was hyped to high heavens, especially after the inclusion of some very cool looking new characters. Things looked fine and dandy until the final new character was announced. A giant, obese American. What happened next?
"FAT MAN FIGHTING WHAT THE FUCK!!"
"This is stupid, no way can he fight."
"I hope Namco removes that blob! What were they thinking?"
This went on for weeks, maybe months.. People were just pissed off to see Bob in Tekken. I thought he looked pretty awesome, so I didn't get what the big deal was. I mean, Tekken had self-aware robots, bears, and even a fucking kangaroo in the tournament, so why not a chubby guy? I just didn't get it. People were more accepting of a kangaroos role in a fighting game, but not a large man's?

Rufus (Street Fighter 4)
Another year passes and there's another super-hyped game. The first Street Fighter in YEARS and everyone is incrdibly pumped. The new characters all look pretty fantastic and apparently are all a blast to play with. And then..... A big fat guy appears at a loketest. Everyone is up in arms!!
"What the hell is that!?"
"Capcom better take that fat shit out of my Street Fighter!"
"Oh my god, I hope he sucks."
Suddenly people are losing faith in Capcom. Some people are saying that suddenly SF4 looks worse. What? Why? What is this???

I just don't understand this.. Why do people get upset over fat guys in fighting games?

Kangaroo? Awesome!
A panda? Bring it on!
Two foot tall dinosaur? Best character ever!
Weird freak with no arms and looks digusting (Oro, SF3).... Pretty cool too!
Overweight man. TAKE THAT FAT THING OUT OF THERE!!!!

I just... do not... get this!!!! What is it about chubby characters that sends people into fits or rage? All the guys I mentioned are, from what I hear, LOADS of fun to play as (except Bo'Rai'Cho because Mortal Kombat's sluggish, unresponsive characters aren't fun at all). So what's the problem here???

Yes indeed, I think I'll return to doing GW Radio shows with only one show this time, GWrock. What's the deal with the name? I want to be "the rock guy" of GW Radio because hey, it's my favourite genre by a LONG SHOT!!

I'll return to the radio this weekend or tonight with nothing but good old rock n' roll! If you just a show you can relax and tap your foot to, this will be it. No obscure "what is this shit?" rock. My goal will be to play songs which appeal to the majority without being 100% mainstream. We'll uh, see how that goes...

Anyway, first show will be on the 30th or 31st and will be headlined by '08 tunes.

Oh yeah, and.....

I'm not going to link to any articles because this is constantly being updated, and I'm surprised that this hasn't been posted yet as I've been listening in on it over the radio for the past two hours. The death toll on this is rising and rising. Fifteen minutes ago it was about 300 dead, so... It's going up fast.

The quake measured at a magnitude of 7.8, and from what I've read, there were a few others that occured afterwards as well.

The quake was felt as far away as Hong Kong, Taiwan, and even Vietnam.

CNN is being pretty up to date with this, so check out their main page.
http://www.cnn.com/

What a horrible event. I can't fathom what it is like to be in an earthquake because we don't get them around here.

It's bad enough when quakes happen in low population areas, but an urban area of China?? That's just awful, and I really hope that the death toll does not climb much higher.

Rare Games and Demos
Last Update: June 1, 2009 @ Post #498

Why a second topic?
I was getting very frustrated trying to go through Mateui's neglected, mammoth topic so we are starting fresh with what I stole from the eight pages (trimmed down to three after THREE AND A HALF HOURS). So have at it! I changed a few rules and guidelines to make things easier for the mods just in case this topic goes a long time without any updates like the previous.

What this topic is for
  • Project site links
  • Rare Game Requests
  • Rare Game Downloads

How this topic will work
If you have your own project site link, feel free to post it, and one of the moderators will add it to this post for you under the "Project Site List". After your site has been added, your post will be deleted to keep this topic neat and tidy, and to help us to quickly identify what other information posted still needs to be edited into the main post.

If you have a request for a rare game, post it in this topic. When someone posts a download link to the game that you have requested, the link will be copied to this post under the "Rare Games List", and both your post and the post of the person providing the link will be deleted. (The person who provided the link will be credited so that you may be able to thank them in case their post was deleted before you got the chance to see it). Instead of thanking the provider here however, thank them via PM because all irrevelant posts will be deleted here, and thus they may not see that you appreciated their effort.

When requesting games, please bold them so that people can quickly know what you're looking for. Also please do not have off-topic discussions in this topic, as it makes it harder for the mods to maintain the topic.

Before requesting a game, use Ctrl+F (Find) to browse the lists in this post for specific games. If the game you are looking for is not listed, try the hosted sites. If they do not have the game you are looking for, request it. If it is listed, you may request it again BUT post as a reminder like this:
"I noticed that the game Bob Barley's Big BBQ Bash is on the Missing Rare Games List. Does anyone have this?"
Please mention that it is already on the list to prevent it from being added multiple times.

What if no one can find the game I'm looking for?
If a request has been unfulfilled for over 2 weeks, and no one has been able to find the game in question, the request will be copied to this post under the section "Missing Rare Games" where it will stay until someone provides the link in the future. If you see a game on this list that you have a download of, please provide it so that the game could be taken out of the list, and placed into the regular "Rare Games" download list.

What if a download link on the list goes down?
If at any time you try to download one of the games in the list here and find that the download is down, please post telling us about it. The list will be updated stating in red that the link is down. It will stay that way until someone provides a working download.

How will I know that my request has been fulfilled?
Besides checking this topic regularly, and seeing if your request is located where it should be based on alphabetical order, newly added rare games will be highlighted in green so you can always quickly find out what's been added to the list recently. These green listed games will eventually lose their green colour based on the number of requests being fulfilled, the time passed since they've been added, and the moderators' discretions.

Anything else I should know about?
This is not a topic for advertising purposes. Do not provide links to your games unless someone has requested them.
Also please report any dead links via private message to a Game & Demo moderator.

What are some good free file hosting services?
http://www.zupload.com/ (30 day inactivity deletion)
http://www.filehosting.cc/ (30 day inactivity deletion)
http://www.zshare.net (10 day inactivity deletion)
The above are all viable options. Note however that they all delete files due to inactivity. Thus, files hosted on these sites are prone to become unavailable.
PM Dan/UPRC for additional download mirrors of games currently on Rapidshare, Sendspace, etc.

Project Site List
Links in
Yellow
colour are highly recommended as they host a variety of projects/demos/games that may not be listed here, and therefore are always good places to check out before requesting.

Rare Games List

Missing Rare Games List
This list is for requested games which are not automatically found by other members. If nobody can immediately locate a download link for the game, it will be added to this list where it will sit for several weeks.
Games will be removed from the missing games list frequently. To prevent the list from growing too large, the game at the top of the list (the oldest game added, in other words) will be removed.

Anyone else check this show out yet? It's on Comedy Central (Comedy Network in Canada) and is hosted by, of course, Lewis Black. I'd have to say that it is the funniest new show I've seen in a few years, at least.

Quote
Lewis Black's Root of All Evil is a American television series that premiered on Comedy Central on March 12, 2008, starring comedian Lewis Black. The show is produced by Real Time With Bill Maher producer Scott Carter and The Simpsons writer David Sacks.

The show is in moot court format, featuring Black presiding over two people or issues going against each other like defendants and plaintiffs in a trial, with a series of comedians and guests, such as Greg Giraldo and Patton Oswalt, playing lawyers making their case why something (i.e. Youtube, beer, Oprah, etc.) is the "root of all evil."

Weed versus Beer: first five minutes of episode

Porn versus YouTube: first two and a half minutes of episode

I find the show is getting funnier with each episode. The latest with Patton Oswalt was just plain hilarious.

Ah, the first of April. The shining beacon of hope and happiness sitting smack down in the cold dawn of Spring.... April Fools is a great day.

So, what are you ol' jokers planning for tomorrow? Perhaps switching the salt with sugar to give your diabetic father a hard time? Replacing your beloved lactose intolerant girlfriend's soy milk with regular cow milk just to make her feel bloated and sick for a few hours?

I don't think I will pull any stunts at home, but I will definitely mess with my coworkers. I plan on replacing our contact sheet with a fake one that, instead of listing names like
SMITH, FRED    (473)
TURNER, TED    (584)

It will simply say
FOOLS, APRIL   (384)
FOOLS, APRIL   (483)

I'm sure I will think of other fun little pranks to pull by tomorrow. How about you guys?

Think you can? Take this test. http://www.bbc.co.uk/science/humanbody/mind/surveys/smiles/index.shtml

It gives you 20 smiles (in video format, you can only view each once) together with you have to to decide whether or not it is genuine or fake.

I did better than I thought with 14/20. I think it is pretty easy to tell if a smile is genuine in real life, contrary to expectation watching these little videos, I really had to think on some of them.

Yeah, I was looking up some cars on Wikipedia, thinking about which manufacturers I liked the most and for what reasons.. And one thing led to another.

I've put together what I feel is a pretty comprehensible list of car manufacturers, though I know I left off some obscure ones people may be into (Daewoo, Zastava) and I realized I forgot Aston Martin. Like hell I'm moving 57 options down one just for one little name. Heh!

So unlike my burger/hotdog poll in which I let you vote as many times as you wanted, let's limit it to five options this time. So, pick up to five manufacturers and state WHY they are your favourite! You don't have to be a driver or car nut. just click shit.

Big polls rock. I'm a statistics freak!

MY decisions..

Dodge: The Viper circa (2002) is a really stunning car and damn hot when racing (stripes). I love their normal road cars as well, like the Intrepid and Neon.

Ferrari: The 550 (preferably Maranello) is my favourite car model EVER. If I see one painted yellow it's FAP FAP FAP!! Also the 360 series is pretty cool too.

Lambourghini: Countach, Diablo, Murciélago.. Lambourghini is great at producing really awkward looking cars. When I first saw Lambourghinis I thought that they were the ugliest things ever but I really, really appreciate them now. Works of art, I say!

Mitsubishi: A little more simpler now.. Mitsubishi's Eclipse and GTO are swell cars and I love the looks of them. I have a friend who is obsessed with the Eclipse, but I am more of a fan of the sleek and sexy GTO. The FTO isn't too bad.

Pontiac: Even simpler this time. Firebird (RIP), Grand Am, and Firebird are pretty dandy road cars. I've always liked the Grand Am a whole lot for some reason, and the Firebird was simply stunning.

That grand daddy of all polls and something fun for the Yanks to vote in.

After doing a little research, I had no idea that people preferred so many different toppings on their burgers and hotdogs.. I mean, wow! Some of these things don't even sound good, but there you go. I've read people listing these off as their favourite toppings so yeah.. Let's see if GW's tastes are as diverse!

What do you guys like on your burgers and hotdogs?

I'm pretty laid back, myself. Toppings I'll likely use are cheese, mustard, hot sauce, jalapeño peppers, and maybe steak sauce. I may also add a bit of dill pickle if I am in the mood, and Dijon mustard if I have it, but that's pretty rare.

I've tried bacon on hodogs. That's pretty damn tasty but equally unhealthy so no thank you.

What I'd like to try: Only thinking hotdogs here because they're more interesting to fool around with. I stumbled across some people say rice, which I think sounds pretty good actually as long as it is white rice or has very little sauce in it. Also chipotle sauce would be pretty tasty. The redneck wannabe in me would also like to try bologna. Habañero Peppers would be a fun experience because man.. Those things are spicy as hell!

Also $5 to anyone who can guess where I got the idea for this poll. It should be REALLY EASY and you don't have to LOOK VERY FAR.

Hey folks. I'm posting this from my PS3 and have a few questions... Does anyone know what the PS3 homebrew scene is like or if there even is one? If there is, what is currently possible, what can be modded, etc? How about emulators and the like? Also can I get IRC on this bad boy?

LAS VEGAS, N.M. - Jessie Vigil's black-and-white car sports a red-and-blue emergency bar across the top and the word "police" painted on the doors. Vigil, however, isn't a cop. Law enforcement agencies say what he's done with his car isn't illegal as long as he doesn't act like a police officer.

He started decorating his 2007 Ford Mustang last summer to look like the police cruiser in the "Transformers" movie because his 7-year-old son, Thomas, was fond of the film.

A close look shows Vigil's car isn't a police cruiser. Instead of the familiar slogan "To protect and serve," it carries a motto: "To punish and enslave" on the side. Instead of telling people to dial 911 for emergencies, the Mustang advises them to "dial 411 for theater information."

Pretty cool, because I thought this was probably against the law. So you'd only get in trouble if you pretend to be a police officer?

The guy sounds like a pretty good father I think, or at least like he says, he's trying to be. He turned his 2007 Ford Mustang into the police cruiser from Transformers just for his son. That's a pretty big thing to do, I think.

I think we here at GW focus on the positive side of gaming too much. We never really stop and think back to the time when we broke our controller when we lost an hour long race by only .5 seconds, or when we all threatened to kill our best friends because they kept beating us in our favourite fighting game.

So let's do that now.

What are your worst gaming experiences? They can be anything from just really, really shitty games that you played which were no fun at all, or times when you just went berserk playing a game.

I think my worst moment combined both of the things I just mentioned. It was a really, really bad game and it also pissed me off to no end. That game was Hoshigami: Ruining Blue Earth. The game which nobody liked. The game which everyone gave a bad review except RPG Advocate (for some odd reason).

Why the game sucked: I forget what the specific genre is called (strategy RPG?), but it was an FFT rip-off.. Which failed miserably. The game appeared to have maybe four or five music tracks in total, terrible ingame tutorials, and no real storyline. Add to this the fact that the game was very cruel and unforgiving. If one of your characters died on a map, that was it.. They were dead. Forever. You could not bring them back. You had to go recruit a new character for some really stupid price. They would also start at LV1 with awful equipment. Then you had to run them through the "Tower of Trials" over and over again just to get them up to a decent level. Also the overworld map was boring as hell.
But on the plus side, the game had some pretty decent art.

Why the game angered me: My favourite characters kept dying. It felt almost impossible not to be able to beat a map without having at least one (or two) characters die, at least. So... By the fifth or sixth map I was lucky to even have any of my original team left! The last map I played I tried continuously to beat. I would level up and buy new equipment, but that did no good since the enemies scaled with you. One day on that horrid map that I could not beat I just lost it. I smacked the Playstation's open button, ripped the game out, stabbed it with scissors and then lit it on fire. Game over.

Your turn!

This is just so stupid that it will put a smile on your face.

Quote
BORDEAUX, France (Reuters) - The mayor of a village in southwest France has threatened residents with severe punishment if they die, because there is no room left in the overcrowded cemetery to bury them.

In an ordinance posted in the council offices, Mayor Gerard Lalanne told the 260 residents of the village of Sarpourenx that "all persons not having a plot in the cemetery and wishing to be buried in Sarpourenx are forbidden from dying in the parish".

It added: "Offenders will be severely punished".

The mayor said he was forced to take drastic action after an administrative court in the nearby town of Pau ruled in January that the acquisition of adjoining private land to extend the cemetery would not be justified.

Lalanne, who celebrated his 70th birthday on Wednesday and is standing for election to a seventh term in this month's local elections, said he was sorry that there had not been a positive outcome to the dilemma.

"It may be a laughing matter for some, but not for me," he said.

Here I am sitting at work and I stumble upon this.. Haha, made my morning! What a wild thing to declare. "Don't die in my town!"

How can you enforce that????
