It's been awhile, here's a download link: The game has changed dramatically since that rough demo I released a long long time ago. Despite everything I'm still making games and working
hard to improve myself in more ways than one. Feedback / discussion, as always is appreciated and valued.

I don't want to go too big, because I do play a lot of First Person Shooters, so I figure 24" would be best.

I'd also like at least one HDMI port so that I can hook up a console to the LCD. (I'm guessing that's all I need, anyway)

My current monitor is as follows : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6824009998

As I stated earlier, 24" would be my ideal size, but I'm wondering what else I'll need. I'm guessing I need an HDMI port  my Wii; but would it be possible to have one of these monitors work as a television as well (for those mornings before work where turning on the computer to get the weather would be a waste).

My main concern is getting something with a good response time, color quality, and contrast ratio. I've seen some more expensive monitors with confusingly lower numbered contrast ratios than my current budget acer.

Currently, I'm considering this : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] -_-Product

"ASUS VW246H Black 24" 2ms(GTG) HDMI Widescreen LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 1000:1 (ASCR 20000:1) Built in Speakers - Retail 19"

The "1000:1" concerns me, does that mean the monitor has a lower contrast ratio than my current monitor? Any input on the matter would be sorely appreciated, as well as any new suggestions.

Price isn't a huge object being that I'm selling off some junk to pay for this; but I'd like to stay within the 300$ price range if at all possible. If it matters, here are my current specs (that matter).

Factory overclocked Ati 4890 Graphics card
3.0G Core 2 Duo Processor

Would prefer a 1920 x 1080 resolution on this new monitor

Free Digital Upgrade Introduces Unlimited Free Play and Raises Level Cap; Beta Begins Today

WESTWOOD, MA – June 9, 2009 – Turbine, Inc. announced today the start of the Beta program for Dungeons & Dragons Online®: Eberron Unlimited™ (DDO Unlimited), a free digital upgrade for Dungeons & Dragons Online®: Stormreach™. DDO Unlimited will raise the level cap and add major new content, as well as make the game free to play for everyone. The new DDO Unlimited delivers heart-pounding game play featuring the industry’s best combat system, a massive world with state-of-the-art graphics and gameplay, and a rich set of features that until now could only be found only in premium subscription-based MMOs. Launching later this summer, DDO Unlimited will introduce an innovative new pricing model that allows players to download and play for free, purchasing adventure packs, items, and account services a la carte from the new DDO Store, or to subscribe to get unlimited access to all of the game’s content. Players interested in getting a sneak peak of the new DDO Unlimited can sign up for a chance to participate in the Beta program at http://www.ddo.com.

“Our team has spent years crafting DDO Unlimited into a powerhouse experience featuring cutting-edge graphics, a kick-ass combat system, high level content, and cutting-edge social tools. Today marks a major milestone as we prepare to launch the world’s most exciting free MMO,” said Kate Paiz, Senior Producer.

“Turbine is blazing a new trail with an innovative new pricing structure that will deliver a new era of choice for the growing market of online gamers, and we are very excited to invite players to work with us in the DDO Unlimited Beta program as we redefine how people play and pay for MMOs,” added Fernando Paiz, Executive Producer.

The Fiercest Combat – DDO Unlimited features an extraordinary and heart stopping combat experience that requires players to fully engage in the battle by relying on their wits and reflexes in real time. No more clicking skills and watching the action from the sideline.

Mind-blowing Visuals – Explore a vast and dangerous online world that features the most advanced graphics in the industry and is stuffed with the legendary monsters, glorious treasures, devious traps, mind-bending puzzles and endless adventures from the world’s best known RPG.

Full-featured MMO – Experience sophisticated systems found only in the best games including auctions, arena death matches (Player versus Player), NPC hirelings, gambling, crafting, and powerful social tools for finding a group, forming a guild or planning an epic raid!

Easier Than Ever! – DDO Unlimited gets you playing in minutes instead of hours, using new proprietary Turbine technology. Creating a new character is incredibly simple with guides and templates that speed you through the process. Features an all-new new player experience that gives gamers their first taste of excitement quickly while teaching them how to play solo or with a group of fellow adventurers.

I happened upon this by accident. An interesting development to say the least. DDO had one of the more interesting combat systems for an MMO (Opting more an action RPG approach), and is quite a bit different from the average MMORPG these days.

I think I'll give this game another shot now that it's F2P. My biggest complaint when playing the trial was the lack of players; but now that it's F2P, there should be a pretty good amount of people running around... There's just one thing I'm a bit wary about. Does this game come bundled with that piece of crap software "Gameguard"? I can't remember too well.

For those who don't know, the Ati 4770 is the latest budget card that supposedly delivers unbelievable performance for the price (trumping the 9800 GT in price and performance)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150366

For awhile I've been watching the ati 4770. After looking at all of the benchmarks, I've decided to try this out... But there are a few questions before I just run to newegg and buy two of these things with a new power supply.

The first of my concerns, my motherboard : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130141 (MSI P35 Platinum Combo LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard)

I'm pretty sure I could use two ATI 4770s in this machine, but to be sure... Can use crossfire with this motherboard?

Next comes the power supply. I currently have a measly 480w power supply. Naturally; if I want to crossfire two ATi 4770s, I'm going to need a new power supply. Does anyone have a suggestion? I was considering a 750w with crossfire/sli support; but I don't know which to get. If you could recommend one from Amazon, that would make things much easier for me, as I have a gift card laying in wait that can only be used there.

Next up is the Crossfire bridge, which bridge should I get for connecting two of these cards?

Lastly, does anyone have the Ati 4770? Which manufacturer should I go with to grab this card? I'm leaning towards XFX, but I'm open to any suggestions. Also, I've heard of some driver issues regarding this card and certain games, some report playing everything just fine while others have problems with games I frequently play (Source games such as Left 4 Dead and TF2).

Edit:

It should be noted that I currently run in 1680 x 1050 resolution.

This is a bit of a mouth full, so I'll start from the very beginning and be as concise as I possibly can.

It started with me playing Left 4 Dead this evening, I closed the game and noticed it was taking an absurd amount of time for the game to close. I was forced to restart. The last time this happened, my diskeeper's auto defrag was off, so I went to check on Diskeeper to make sure everything was up and running, when I encountered an odd error, stating...

Diskeeper failed to connect to service. The service may have stopped. See windows event log for more details.

So, after being unable to look at the log for some reason, I check under the control panel services to try and start it manually, I get another generic error message... So at this point I move to uninstall / reinstall the program. Same deal. Annoyed, I uninstall / restart / reinstall with the same results. I break down and finally just get a trial version of O&O defrag just so that I can get a defrag done. I get similar errors and issues with this new program. I remove the program and go looking for a registry cleaner when I come across this number called Advanced System Care Professional.

I notice it on download.com, notice over 5000 reviews averaging out to be 4 1/2 stars, so I go to try it. The program itself finds a ton of errors. I set it to fix, and restarted my computer... But something didn't feel right after the reboot. First of all, the stupid windows security alert kept popping up after each restart, (the small annoying reminder window that I had somehow disabled before), and the fonts looked smaller and kind of... odd.

Here, I'll show a screenshot.

Most programs have this weird new font; my email, firefox, etc. Its not specific to one thing

After I noticed this, I looked up some more reviews on the program, many were glowing, while some were from disgruntled users that have had to reinstall windows because of this program.

At this point, I'd like to ask a few questions.

1 - Why won't diskeeper / O&O defrag work? Bear in mind I've already tried the most common solutions (checking services and trying to start the service manually)
2 - How do I recover my older font layout?
3 - Is Advanced System Care safe to use? There seems to be a very big love hate thing going on with this program.

And the bonus question

4 - Windows restore refuses to work, I hit the final "next" button and nothing happens at all... Help?

Thanks in advance for any information on this. I fear it might be time for a new installation of windows.

I'm going to be ordering an Antec 900 Case, but with all of the fans the thing has, Im wondering if Im going to need a new PSU.

I don't notice any "struggling" from the PSU, but since it's a 475, and since newer video cards are probably going to require a bit more then that, I'm a little concerned about the future. Also, it would be far easier to get the new PSU now, and hook it up with my new case rather than waiting to get it, and having to do all the just delightful wire managing all over again.

My current computer specifications are as follows : 4G Ram, 9800 GT Graphics card, 3.0 GB core 2 duo processor, 475 Power supply, I also have one of those giant zalman copper fan heatsinks over my processor.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129021

Again, the Antec 900 has a lot of fans; should I be worried; or should I just get a new PSU when I need a new video card (in the distant future, probably)

Earlier today, whilst messing around on youtube, something odd happened. I loaded up a "maxed out left 4 dead" video when suddenly red lines appeared all over my screen. My computer slowed to snails pace and then froze outright. I restarted, and found that my bios screen was similarly distorted. (Blue distortion instead of red lines). Even the BIOS font had a few distortions in it. At the windows loading screen: same thing. Windows loads up, a blue screen with some computer jargon appears, and my computer restarts itself.

At this point, I take out my gfx card, spray out a meager amount of dust, and try again (in the second monitor port thing) same thing. I then dug out my old ATI X800 GFX card to see if I can just get the thing running until tommorow, but that didnt seem to work; as nothing appeared on my screen at ALL. (It's very old, its possible it could be just broken...) Scared, (having had dealt with this crap less than a year ago on my old mobo) I put my newer card in, (The 8800GT) and got a display again. Only this time an odd message appeared "Overclock settings FAILED, RETURNING TO DEFAULT SETTINGS (PRESS 9 TO DO SO) I press 9, supposedly return to default bios settings; computer restarts (distorted again) and thats that. I try booting into safe mode, it works, and I rolled back my computer to sunday. Distortions persist, and here I am asking... No: begging for help.

Here's my question.

Is this a graphics card issue, or a PSU issue? Is the 9600 a good replacement for an 8800GT? I cant get anything much bigger than my old 8800 because of my case's size.

Im heading out to get a replacement tomorrow, so if I can get some second opinions on this before then; I would be very very grateful.

Edit: Distortion also appears when I boot into safe mode.

Well, the problem's pretty much what the subject says. I noticed the problem started earlier this week, I tried to use the n52te forums. I tried to use the password recovery to no avail, I just didn't get the email. So I just tried to make a new account using a different email with no results either. The junk mail box was empty as well.

Recently I tried to register for quake live and again ; no confirmation from any of the three email addresses I've tried. Is there any conceivable reason this happens; and what can I do to fix this?

...Come to think of it; I remember this happening once. Only about a week later after the first time ; I got a huge cluster of confirmation emails in one day.

Oh, it should be noted that I still get other emails just fine.

First, allow me to list my basic system specs.

3.0g Dual Core Processor
4g of Ram
8800GT video card
Windows XP

I'm considering getting a 22" monitor; but I'd like a little information,

Debating between this one (that I have a promo code for)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009998&nm_mc=EMC-IGNEFL010809&cm_mmc=EMC-IGNEFL010809-_-Monitors-_-L2C-_-24009998

or this one (which is 10 dollars more w/o promo code; but has a customer choice award)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009145&cm_sp=MyNewegg-_-TopSel-_-Pst01Image

I'm not sure which one to choose, but that's not all. Can my computer hope to run games at max resolution? My Graphics card is kind of dated at this point, being a mere 8800 gt and all. Also, could this system support dual display without big issue? The games I play include Left 4 dead, TF2, and so on; but I'd like to know if I could handle more graphically intense games with this new setup, like maybe CoD4 which I play on rare occasion... Also, if either of these monitors is poor for gaming; that would be great to know too.

The dual display is something Im not going to be using for gaming, but rather - multitasking. Having a screen on the side for messages / photoshop or what have you will be profoundly useful, and a given being that my current 19 inch is still okay for the most part.

With Christmas approaching I've been being asked as to what I wanted for the consumer holiday.

While being at a loss for what to ask for (That isnt 200+ USD), something recently came to me, my hard drive; by far the oldest component in my now new PC. I've gotten some great help here before; so I come here again with another pestering group of questions.

1 - I really like how I have my windows set up now. Diskkeeper, NOD Antivirus, and all of my other protective measures are all set up just the way I like them. I run a tight ship; and the computer runs consistently well... My question is; is it possible to make a snapshot image of this current set up; and transfer it easily to my new hard drive?

2 - What high performance hard drives do you suggest for a gamer such as myself? What would fit in my case?  (http://www.devhardware.com/c/a/Computer-Cases/Raidmax-Sagitta-Gaming-Case-Review/)

3 - I'm not sure if I even really need this at this point; but I'm always paranoid about my case temp. What would be a good replacement fan for the above linked case? Can I even replace the fans on this thing easily?

4 - I saw some weird thing at a staples the other day. I didn't get a good look at it, but it looked like some kind of fan that hooked up into a pci slot. A Graphics Card fan, the package stated. Is this a good thing to have? It would cover up a hold I have in the back of my case nicely (I can't find the case cover for that one piece).

"This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may (wont) fix this problem"

This is the message I'm greeted with when trying to run a mounted ISO. After trying two different mounting programs, I've decided to come here for help.

This is kind of a problem that can encircle many programs; so I've had no results with the obligatory google search; so any type of insight as to what I can do to fix this would be appreciated.

My parent's computer is having a rather annoying problem. For some reason, the sound doesn't seem to want to work. Instead after installing the drivers the speakers give off a static noise.

I've checked all of the connections and they all look to be in order. Could they have installed the wrong drivers?

The soundcard is the Philip's Acoustic edge, and I'm not sure of a safe place to find these drivers myself. (The Philips webpage does not host the drivers for some reason.)

A bit of help?

Hello. Remember me? My last problem involved my computer not posting mysteriously.

So, after much trial I decided to get a new motherboard, a new processor, and new ram.

4 new gigs of ram. MSI 35 platinum, and 3gs of dual core CPU power.

Oh I was excited, all week I waited for my brother to come and put this in for me, because I'm far too stupid to do this sort of thing myself.

Unfortunately; my waiting ended with disappointment. We turn on the computer and... NO POST.

It's quite odd, but here's what happens.

Computer turns on... ... turns off.

Turns on again. and nothing.

This board apparently doesnt use the beep diagnostic; it uses a color coded LED Thing. My brother THINKS it indicates the processor. After reseating it once, same issue.

So; while putting in the default fan device, he got pissed off and left; because he forgot to do one thing with something, or something along those lines. I don't really blame him.

Anyway, I come here once again severely... severely let down; and confused. All of these components are brand new, yet the computer won't even post.

I'm just so fed up, that I may just take it to a place for them to deal with.

Please excuse the grammar, for i am typing this from a nintendo Wii.

today i come hone to a pc that would not boot.

i narrowed the problem down to ram: and even had it boot once.  my brother told me to send back my 2gs of ram to kingston.  i put them aside and used some spares my bro left me.  the first time i booted they were loose, not backwards: so i fixed it and tried again...no luck.

the mobo and ram show no signs of burning, and ive since tried each ram alone with no luck.

kingston was no help: and even my brother is confused....

what could be wrong?

mobo still givss same beep..,

one long beep.

mobo is MSI k8Fneo or something like that.

ihave exhausted all options: any insight is appreciated..,

Like anything user friendly, there's a lot of garbage out there on youtube. But amongst the garbage, there's some really good stuff; good stuff that probably would have never seen the light of day if it were not for youtube. Upon looking through anything, whether it's a bloated list of rpg maker games, or a side bar of videos involving some retard getting his balls hit by a see saw; there's going to be something of worth amongst that.  I'm not one for starting topics, and I'm highly lazy; so here.

I was going to write up something about this, but someone else took the liberty of writing a needlessly complicated description for me, so here you go.

"Dr. Smoov works for Destrou

That is the only way to be able to create such a wonderfully entertaining, charmingly surreal episode of Transformers. The attention to detail and the quality of the dialogue are only matched by the distinguished class of the voice acting and delivery. Brilliantly blended editing that only enhances the viewing pleasure. Very certainly (as other have previously acclaimed) genuinely world class material."

There are a few great little episodes here, my favorite however would have to be "Shockwave's Burden"

The guy has several other works here, including one spoofing GI Joe.

His voice work is both uncanny, and of the highest quality.

Does anyone else here know of any other great youtube series? I'm always looking to watch some interesting works (waste time).

Recently, after doing and optimization of my computer's performance, I finished everything and the system runs a great deal smoother, but one thing bothers me.

System Specs:
Windows XP SP: 2
2.4 Ghz Dual Core AMD
2 Gigs of Ram
8800GT Video Card
Some crappy old sound card, Acoustic edge or some nonsense.

I'm not entirely sure why one of the cores of my processor is far hotter than the other. Maybe my system is only using one of the cores?

I've tried cleaning my system and nothing seems to improve. I've had no hard locks or auto rebooting issues but it's far better to solve this problem as early as possible.

Does anyone here have any ideas?

As of late, I've had this strange urge for a fast paced, futuristic shooter; unlike the (still good) Call of Duty 4.

Unreal 3 comes to mind, it's price has recently dropped and the reviews seem good... at first glance.

But I decided to go deeper into the matter; and some concerns arise.

Apparently the game was not well received, many people complain about the removal of certain old game modes, while some complain about something as simple as the interface. My primary concern however, is the amount of people playing it.

You see; the game looks fun enough alone - but I don't want to buy the game, log on, and find there's only 14 people playing in the world.

My question here is; does anyone else own this game? Would it be a mistake to buy it, even at it's current 29.95 price tag?

I have a bit of an odd question for you tonight.

I've had this LCD monitor for awhile, I know the colors are kind of washed out on it, so usually I use this little device my brother has. It's a auto color calibration thing that fixes the colors on the LCD so they don't look so washed out (while retaining the same colors for games)

I recently acquired my new graphics card, (recently as in last week) and I lost the calibration settings in the process. It occurs to me that the calibration program is kind of annoying; it takes sytem memory and sometimes it doesn't shift to the proper colors when going back to the desktop (example: I play some TF2, after I'm done, I exist the program and the colors are all washed out again. I have to launch WoW and close it in order to get the good color again)

So, with that rambling out of the way It's time for the question. Isn't there some way to simply manually calibrate my LCD's color without the need of this annoying program / device?

I've been keeping a watch on many retailers, and recently newegg.com has an interesting graphics card sale right now. However, I'm concerned about some of the technical issues. Mainly; cooling and getting one that's a good fit for my system. Cost is also a factor; I'd say up to 200$ would be a good limit.

Dual Core AMD Opteron
Processor 180
2.41ghz 2gigs of Ram

Any opinions are greatly appreciated. Does anyone here have any suggestions?

These things aren't really for everyone. Items like the N52 Nostromo are used and adored by some, while others think of them as unnecessary; and stick with the keyboard.

I myself have grown quite accustomed to my N52 ( http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=157024 ), but there's on thing that really irritates me. The shoddy quality.

These things never last more than 5 months, and the warranty was voided on my first one when I opened it up and stupidly attempted to fix it myself. (It used to work with my own SNES controllers!)

Now, I'm on my second n52, and I've encountered some more wear a tear, 5 months later; almost as if it was on queue. The psuedo mouse wheel thing on it gets stuck frequently, causing me to rabbit hop like a retard in many of the games I play.

Frustrated with the sub standard quality product belkin has put out; I look to get a new pad. I find out the n52te is coming out, so I ask for it for Christmas.

Little did I know - this product has been delayed roughly SIX times at this point; with it recently being re delayed to Febuary 15th. But will this even matter? It has new backlighting and a new pad / look - but will the product be so poorly made, like many other belkin products?

I'm unsure if I want to spend the 70$ US for something that will break in a half a year; so I look for alternatives.

So here I am, throwing myself at the mercy of the video games forum. What, if any peripherals do you use? Can you recommend a viable alternative?

The ideazon fang looks like a good product. Praised for its durability and even winning rewards from reputable magazines.

http://www.ideazon.com/us/products/fanggamepad.asp

Help.  Please?  :fogetsad:
