Does anyone know if Angelfire websites created before 2010 can still be edited in HTML mode? Angelfire's Web Shell was free in the past, and offered to upload custom written HTML pages. But in this day, Web Shell is a paid service and you can only use the crappy sitebuilder.

Hello,

I have a piece of music which I looped and intend to use for a level of my game. However, the loop sounds sorta awkward. I'm not very good at audio editing stuff. So I was wondering if someone could help me improve it.

Now just to be clear, I'm not a fan of horror movies. Not because they scare me, but because usually, the definition of a horror movie is blood, gore, zombies, ghosts, monsters.

One day I for some reason came across a Wikipedia page about movies with timeloops. 1408 caught my eye. I read the synopsis and decided to give it a go.

Man oh man. Holy shit. What a brilliant movie. I mean, everything about it. A sarcastic ego-centric writer who doesn't believe in shit goes into a hotel room where all this crazy shit happens.

But, what scared me about it wasn't the dead zombie chasing him through the air ducts, or a masked dude trying to kill him. What scared me is when the window slams down on his hand and pulverizes it for no reason. Or when he sees a guy behind the window on the opposite of the street, who is clearly not a reflection, and a few seconds later it turns out to be a doppelganger. Or when tries to escape to the window of the next room, only to find out all windows had disappeared.

So I guess what scares me (or excites me) is that batshit insane shit that can't be explained. Mindfucks. The receptionist randomly calling about a sandwich he never ordered.

Anyway, this is kinda turning into a long post, but I just wanted to ask if anyone here has seen 1408 and knows some movies similar to it. No monster movies, no zombies, no vampires, no ghosts, just complete mindfucks and completely illogical thrills.

By the way, I've also seen the movie Triangle, and it comes pretty close to 1408 in terms of insanity. I thought that one was scarier though, and I still don't understand how the time loop worked. But anyway, that kinda thing.

I see this all the time. Especially on Naruto forums, but it happens everywhere.

People argue on endlessly about who would win in a fight, Sasuke or <random dude>. They come up with all kinds of bullshit to prove their point, and neither of the two ever concedes to the other.

So what's the point of an argument if neither of the two are gonna change their mind?

After watching BTTF trilogy for the hundredth time, I realized the movies actually make very little sense, because of the grandfather paradox.

For those who don't know it, the grandfather paradox is basically what would happen if you go back in time and shoot your granddad. Since your granddad is dead, you can't exist, so you're erased from existance. But if you don't exist, then you couldn't have gone back in time to shoot your granddad, so your granddad's alive. But if your granddad's alive, you're alive too, and you went back in time to shoot him... Etc.

In Back To The Future, Marty goes 30 years back in time and prevents his parents from falling in love. At that moment, Marty starts to be erased from existance, because if his parents weren't together then he'd never be born. But if Marty was never born, he could never go back in time to prevent his parents from meeting, so his parents would fall in love, and Marty would be born. But if Marty was born, he'd go back in time to prevent his parents from meeting.... Blablabla. Movie makes no sense at all.

Second movie, Future Biff goes back and hands himself the almanac, resulting in him getting rich, but later on Lorraine shoots him. If Lorraine shoots Biff, then Biff couldn't have existed in the future and he would be erased from existance. But if Future Biff never existed, then he couldn't have gone back in time to hand himself the almanac,so Biff wouldn't have been shot in the past. But if Biff hadn't been shot, his future self would go back in time and hand himself the almanac....... Blablabla, movie makes no sense.

I don't know about the third movie, but something about it doesn't seem to make sense either.

I just watched the South Park episodes about Scientology and Mormonism. And I couldn't believe that those religions could actually be like that, so I checked on Wikipedia. And South Park's portrayal of Scientology and Mormonism is actually accurate.

Why do people believe this crap?

First off, Scientology. Everyone knows L. Ron Hubbard was a science fiction writer, even Scientologists ACKNOWLEDGE that he was. And yet they still choose to believe in aliens from outer space influencing humanity.

And then there's Mormonism. The sole fact that John Smith failed to replicate the so-called "scriptures" from the golden plate letter after letter after some pages were stolen, outright proves that he was a fake. And yet there are thousands who believe that he actually directly communicated with God, Jesus, and angels and that he got some new golden plates and that's why he couldn't narrate the old story once more.

I mean, I'm not someone who's against religion. The whole idea of God and Jesus doesn't sound that weird to me. I'm not a religious person, but I also wouldn't rule out the possibility of a higher being who could actually make miracles happen. But when there's a religion that believes that some douchebag has actually talked to Jesus, and was told to make his own religion because all the others are WRONG, that's where I draw the line.

Can't these blind people see they're being taken advantage of so that the people who invented Scientology / Mormonism can make money?

It just boggles my mind. Just had to get that off my chest.

do you guys remember final fallacy? it was a game made by spoonybard in rm2k and largely used the RTP and wasn't all that special. but it had some pretty good humor in it and to be honest it's one of my favorite rm2k games.

unfortunately that game was never completed, because right when the main bad guy was revealed it cut off. a sequel was promised by spoonybard, but for 10 years we didn't get more then some screenshots and minor updates.

but every now and then i still swing by his website. and this evening i almost shat my pants.

FINAL FUCKING FALLACY 2 IS HERE. well actually not, it's final fallacy: dusk of spirits or whatever and it takes place wayyyy later then the first game. but still, after 10 fucking years, this guy came back and made a sequel to his 10 year old game.

since nobody visits his website anymore, in my opinion people need to know about this shit. it would be a waste if it just went by unnoticed.

actually he released it in june this year so i'm also a few months late, but whatever.

http://www.angelfire.com/rpg/supponibarodu/

if you remember this, kudos. if you don't, shame on your for missing out on a great rm2k gem.

Today something unexpected happened. I learned something new about RM2K.

What did I learn? In the map editor, when you put tiles in the map, if you hold shift while putting tiles, it will leave out the grass around the tile. For example when you put grass tiles in the water, it will just create square cut off tiles without adding the little transitions of water to land.

This is actually pretty handy, often I found myself in need of water or whatever and I'd always get those grassy lines around it, forcing me to use the selection tool to copy and paste square water tiles.

So it goes to show that even after 8 years you can still learn new things about RM2K.

Okay, I have a problem.

I realized too late I want to use Rm2k3 for my project. I started out with Rm2k knowing it was inferior because I wanted to keep that authentic old-school look and keep using the Rm2k monsters.

However, now I realize that Rm2k3's features are so more user-friendly that Rm2k3 is just the best way to go.

But now the problem, I can't convert my Rm2k project to Rm2k3.

I tried the obvious way, opening the project in Rm2k3. But that resulted in the entire Database getting f'ed up. Everything in the Database was still from Rm2k (items, skills, battle anims) but it was trying to find resources for this in the Rm2k3 RTP which obviously led to some messed up sh*t. Also, whenever I go to the Monster Group tab, I get a crapload of access violation errors, and after they're gone I can't see any monster groups and whenever I click anywhere in the screen it's more access violations.

Then I tried copying and pasting the maps to a clean Rm2k3 project, which didn't work at all either.

I don't believe there is a way to do it, but if there is I guess I'll try asking here.

If there isn't, is there at least a way to run Rm2k and Rm2k3 both at the same time? In the worst case I'm willing to recreate everything, but it takes so much more longer if I have to switch between the two makers every 2 minutes.

Hello, I got a problem with Rm2k.

Whenever I use dialog, there's these two lines in the input field which I presume indicate where the text is supposed to cut off, one for when you're using a faceset and one for when you're not using one.

Anyway, one of my dialogs uses a faceset but stays perfectly clear of the first line, but still it cuts off the last three words or so.

Is there a way to fix this?

Already posted this in Feedback but Faust gave me the good advice that it didn't belong there so just posting it again here because for the hell of it and also the chain story 2 chapter five written by xanqui

I miss the old Gaming World. But I'm not making this topic because I think SaltW should aim to live up to what it once was, because that time has passed and the community has died or moved on.

However, I remember first coming to GW as a kid. That was when I started fooling around with Rm2k. I remember how awesome it was to be able to make my own games, even if they were complete crap. I also loved browsing through GW's database of games and play what other people made. This is how I first witnessed classic titles such as Legion Saga, Final Fallacy, The Way, A Blurred Line, and cRaZy_gUy's Journey, to just name a few.

The forums back then were a little more rough to newcomers. It was the age where flaming was mandatory for its existence, but it had its charm. The days when people were posting topics of their "omg so awesome" Rm2k projects like there was no tomorrow.

I think part of the charm was being a kid and it being new, because these days I don't find myself fooling around much with Rm2k anymore either. But I know I will keep opening it up every now and then and play some of those classic games.

Anyway, with this in mind, please look back on the old Gaming World with pride for once more.

And I just wanted to thank the guys who created GW and its community, because it's been a blast.

Hi.

I'm running on Windows 7, and after getting annoyed with Windows Aero I decided to go oldschool and switch to the Windows Classic theme, modifying the color scheme to my liking.

All you Windows 7 users probably know about the small thumbnail that appears when you mouse over an active program in your taskbar. This thumbnail still had function with Windows Aero, but when I switched to Windows Classic, it's no longer a thumbnail. Now it's just a button with the title of the program and a cross next to it, which is completely useless.

Anyway, long story short, I want it gone. Those pesky little "taskbar thumbnails" in Windows Classic, I want them gone. How do I accomplish this?

If you still don't get what I'm talking about:

Yea, it's serious this time :P

Anyway,

I'm making a game in Unity with the main character as a box man. He ends up in a strange world, but I can't figure out a good main goal for him. Some conditions:

- It needs to be noble, for someone else
- It needs to be really silly, because it's a humor based game
- It can't take too much time as it's not a very long game

So anyone, ideas? Let me borrow your exceptional imagination :D

Also, anyone got an idea for a name for this guy? I was thinking of Bob the Box, but maybe that's too standard.

Hey hey, I've got an idea for a game and I'd like to hear your thoughts about it.

Okay,

So you're a shark, and you need to ram lantern poles until trains fall out. You can then board these trains to the planet of sharks, where you have to dig a hole in the ground until you find clouds. you can use these clouds to fight the evil wizard who plans to kill all the sharks by hitting them with baseball trees.

what do you think??
