Hi friends,
I recorded an album of heavily distorted ukulele shoegaze music.  I bought a uke and then I made some shoegaze.  There's a little guitar on the last few tracks You should check it out

anyone play a ukulele?
I am looking to buy a uke - turns out they are super easy to play I picked up on how to play my friends soprano in like 30 minutes.

Looking at getting a concert uke of my own - any suggestions of good ones to look at under the 150-200 dollar price range?

Anyone a fan of stand up comedy?  Well, okay that is a bit broad of a question; so what all you favorite stand up peoples and things?  I'll be going to my first like legit stand-up show (which is more than just happening to wander into a bar and there is some dude doing stand-up) in March (seeing Aziz Ansari), and what sort of things should I expect; or is it pretty straightforward?   Have anyone of you guys seen any stand up-ers?

seems like a simple topic enough.  I finally may be getting out of the midwest after the end of the summer; but important thing such as a job and a place to live in somewhere where I don't have ready access to (eg: places that I would not be able to drive to which is like 15+ hours of driving) etc.    what advice to you peoples have regarding how to look for jobs and places to live, etc. in places where you don't already live/are hoping to maybe move to. etc.

it's christmas time, and we all know that means joys of consumerism and commericialism, so let's talk about shopping and shit

what sort of things are you getting people for christmas this year?   I myself need some ideas for a few people (such as my gf, brother, etc) and was wondering what other people are doing.  One thing that   I'm thinking of getting my parents some sort of amazon prime account or something (so my dad can watch all his star trek series, and my mom gets a lot of books from there for her classroom etc) but this obviously could change.

are they worth it??   I have been using a mixer going straight into my Macbook's soundcard audio input for the last 4 years now, and am struggling what to do next to upgrade my soundquality.    would it be worth it to invest in a USB interface system? (thinking maybe something like one of the Line 6 pods because I hear Pod FARM is a nice system to use for recording electric an stuff).    Or am I better off looking into something else (eg microphone upgrades, etC)  :o

Hello individuals of Games World

I am in a position in which I require a vid cam to shoot a music video project in HD.  I'm not looking for a pro grade camera, and was thinking something more along the  lines of a flip or something like that.  Something that looks good enough to be a little bit more than amateur, (prosumer) but not a 1,000+ camera.    Specifically, I'd like something under 200 dollars actually and can do good quality 1080p.  Optical zoom would be nice if something like that exists at the price range (no idea if it does) and can be sat on a tripod (either the tiny kind with the three little plastic legs, or a real one).    Maybe something like those dumb vloggers use, but can be used outside.  I'm planning on shooting a lot of stop-motion things with it.

I know nothing about vid cams.  TEll me about vid cams

Hey,
so due to various circumstances, I've inherited a drum set, or at least parts of a drum set.  It's a 5 piece, but I only have the bass drum the two toms that attach, a floor tom, snare, and a hi-hat.  The snare needs a stand, and the hi-hat is missing a piece that I'm just going to grab from guitar center one of these days.

It's not a particularly great set, but I'm mostly just doing this for fun because I've always wanted to play the drums, but never could because my parents thought that it would be too loud.  However, now that I'll have my own place in a few months, I'll be able to like mess around on it.  I'd like to be able to do this for as little money as possible.

Any recommendations for getting cheap stands, crash and/or ride cymbals, and sticks?  I'm not completely a beginner, but I'm not particularly great so I don't need great equipment.
also tell me about playing the drums, and anything that I should keep in mind while I sort of teach myself over the next few months.

Hey everybody,
it's time to talk about everyone's favorite subject, jobs.

I'm going to graduating this May with degrees in General Biology and Psychology.   I've got an internship set up for the summer, and could be potentially going to grad school in the Spring for public health.   However,  I originally had a temporary job lined up for the fall that I was hoping to use as an income source while I took some time off to work on music, and just not deal with school related things for  a while, but for various reasons that has fallen through. (Or is likely going to fall through, in that I can't count on it at this point anyways).

Does anybody know of any good jobs to look for for just a few months, and where to look at them for?   It doesn't really have to be anything related to my major, but I would like to have to avoid meanial jobs as much as possible, so that I can have something where I would be able to afford rent, food, nourishment, etc.

have any of you guys done long bus trips?  A few friends and myself are considering popping up a greyhound trip to the great north this summer (specifically Chicago to Edmonton) and I was wondering what people's experiences were like going greyhound (if you don't know what this is, greyhound is a north-american bus travel company).

The benefits : Well,  booking a trip like this on bus roundtrip rather than airplane is about 330 dollars cheaper per person compared to the cheapest possible round-flight ticket  (not including booking fees, taxes, checked bags, etc.)

The cons :(and boy what a con).  This trip has a 3 and a half day travel time for both traveling to, and arriving back.   (plus like 4 or 5 bus transfers for each journey)

apparently the buses have like wifi and shit on them, and if I travel with friends i'm sure interesting times could be had and what not.

have any of you yucks done any sort of long distance/long time bus travel, and what are your opinions/experiences.  Are we crazy for considering spending an entire week on a bus?   (the in between time would be about 9-10 days)

I seriously know nothing about graphic design, poster making, or anything that is worth your time when creating something.  and yet I have somehow been given the task of having to make a poster for a concert that I'm hosting later this month.  So here is something that I came up with so if some of you more design savy people could take a look at it and say what they think about it, that would be super helpful.  I didn't compress the size of the image, so here is a link to it http://i42.tinypic.com/33wwsir.jpg

I have a soundcloud.  They're super easy to make and stuff and you can put up a lot more streamable music than you could on shit websites like MySpace and stuff like that. My soundcloud is http://soundcloud.com/nathanieltann

you should share your soundcloud
