Yesterday my mom's house caught fire. She's unemployed at the moment so she can't afford the costs of the reconstruction. My sisters and cousins are planning to hold a fundraiser for her but we need ideas for an effective fundraiser. Any suggestions?

Michael suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this afternoon at his Holmby Hills home and paramedics were unable to revive him. We're told when paramedics arrived Jackson had no pulse and they never got a pulse back.

A source tells us Jackson was dead when paramedics arrived.

Once at the hospital, the staff tried to resuscitate him but they had no luck.

We're told one of the staff members at Jackson's home called 911.

LaToya ran in the hospital sobbing after Jackson was pronounced dead.

Michael is survived by three children: Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr., Paris Michael Katherine Jackson and Prince "Blanket" Michael Jackson II.

:shocking:  This has been a bad week for celebrities.  Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett, and now Michael Jackson.

Edit: Reportedly dead.  I can't find another news story at the moment to confirm this one, but that shouldn't take too long if it's true.

Kill Bill star found dead in hotel room

Quote from: AP
BANGKOK – Actor David Carradine, star of the 1970s TV series "Kung Fu" who also had a wide-ranging career in the movies, has been found dead in the Thai capital, Bangkok. A news report said he was found hanged in his hotel room and was believed to have committed suicide.

A spokesman for the U.S. Embassy, Michael Turner, confirmed the death of the 72-year-old actor. He said the embassy was informed by Thai authorities that Carradine died either late Wednesday or early Thursday, but he could not provide further details out of consideration for his family

This sucks.  I wasn't a fan of the Kill Bill movies (too much gore for my tastes), but I loved his old Kung Fu series and use his Tai Chi instructional videos on a daily basis.  I wonder what may have prompted him to commit suicide.

Basically I'm making this topic as a way to see what it's like in other areas where GW members are from.  Not to mention I'd like to see if there are any other areas as fucked up as Erie County where I live.

Just post the main headline of your local newspaper and a brief summary of what it's about.

Here's mine:

Erie police try to remove video from YouTube

Before the YouTube video of an off-duty Erie police officer was locally circulated and Mayor Joe Sinnott was notified of its existence, the police internal-affairs investigator was working with the videotaped officer to find the source of the video and get it removed from the Internet.

Internal-affairs Inspector James DeDionisio was accompanied by the officer in the video, Patrolman James Cousins II, on Tuesday when he questioned the brother of the man who posted the video on April 6.

The brother said DeDionisio warned him to find a way to have the video removed from the Web, and told him police were pursuing a possible wiretapping case against the person who posted it.

Full Story Here.

They were unsuccessful getting the video removed since the DA refused to file a complaint with Youtube.  Not that it would matter.  It's extremely easy to download videos from the site so someone else would just post it again if it was taken down.

I'm already planning on getting Mario Galaxy, Twilight Princess, Mario Kart, and Smash Bros.  I have no idea what else to get though.  Any genre is fine, though I mostly play fighting games and rpgs.   Also, are there any decent Wii ware games?

Long story short, I'm stuck at my Aunt's house for a week to dog sit for her while she's out of town.  Everything was going fine until I tried connecting to the internet.  Now her DSL modem is saying that a network cable is unplugged, but the damn thing is in there pretty firmly.  The DSL, Wireless, and Internet lights all stay on, but none of the Ethernet ports light up.

Here's the PC and modem info:

OS: Windows XP SP2
Modem:  Westell 327W
Model: D90-32W15-06  Rev: F

I've tried calling Verizon's Tech Support, but they just keep giving me the run around, and trying to pass the buck on who's fault it is.

It's that time of year again. Schools are letting out and everyone is planning their summer vacations.  So where are you going this year?  Have you been there before or will it be your first time?  Discuss your plans here.

As for me I'll be heading back to New York City for a week.  I promised my brother I'd take him to a Yankees game before they tear down the stadium at the end of the season.  Then I'm going to visit the Museum of Natural History, the Bronx Zoo, and go on a spending spree in Chinatown.

I just got a R4 card and was wondering if anyone has some suggestions for good homebrew games and apps to try out.  So far I've been getting a kick out of Virus DS Xmas Edition, Setsuzoku No Puzzle, and Virtual Game Maker DS.
