So... I decided to suck it up and play through the lag. And I found out what caused it: the number of monsters on screen, apparently. After I took down like 3 or 4 monsters, the lag stopped altogether and the game ran normally. It did it again in the . Maybe it's just my comp though, I dunno.

That's what I was thinking. I went into the game files using RPG Maker and took the fog out. It didn't take the fog out for some reason; maybe I missed something. But I didn't have any problems with lag up until the Sewers.

Really, I like all of the options, if they're done well. Minigames I'm mildly on the fence about, but if they don't break the flow of the story, it's fine.

I believe that in capable hands, yes, a game covering those themes intelligently could be done. I have yet to see any of those themes being covered intelligently though.
