hey biggles, I've gotten a lot of those comments about my music, i think the most prevalent one was the distortion getting in the way too much, so i know if i ever make some more songs i'll try to dial it down a lot. i really don't know much about compressors or gates or even equalizing, i use some cheap headphones so its hard to kind of figure out what they really sound like. but music has always been a every once in a while hobby for me. these songs were put together over two years with not a spectacular amount of effort. just everyonce in a while i'd write something or make a beat. glad you like some of them and thanks for listening! :)

also have some new videos uploaded if anyone interested in critiquing or w/e: http://www.youtube.com/jumar1987

Going to road trip to St Petersburg (like 4 hours north) to a Taking Back Sunday concert in June with a few of my buddies. I saw them last year in Georgia at this small venue and had a lot of fun. They release a new album June 2 or something so they'll be playing (probably) a lot of their new stuff.

EDIT: Just found out that TBS is doing the show with Envy on the Coast, now I'm really excited! :)

Also found out an Animal Collective show I kind of wanted to go to just got sold out. The show isn't even until June 9th. Sucksssss...

jesus christ. i mean senses fail is still kinda a GUILTY PLEASURE for me but i would never pay to see them. especially because they're probably playing alot of their ne wstuff which is  a lot more MATH ROCK shredding and fujck that.

Yeah, idk, marginal utility. I think the latest album is pretty good. I'm going with a few friends and we're all into the band. The tickets were less than 20 bucks each compared to some of the other concerts, which go up to 35, so I thought, probably worth it.

I don't understand this guilty pleasure nonsense. If like a band I'll say so, I wouldn't be ashamed to say I like their shit.

I have a Senses Fail concert I'm going to Friday. They're playing with a few other bands that I really haven't heard of. Except for Hollywood Undead, which is kind of not that good hardcore rock rap. Senses Fail rraarrr.

Sunday March 8, Modest Mouse. I saw them last year at the Miami Beach Fillmore, but this show they're playing at Revolution, which is general admission so I'm gonna come early and grab a spot as close to the stage as I can. I had a little trouble deciding between seeing these guys or Deerhunter and Girl Talk the same night. I think Modest Mouse is the better show.

Taste of Chaos is sometimes later this March too. It's headlined by Thursday, but I'm really excited to see Bring Me The Horizon and Four Year Strong, I've been jamming a lot to their music recently.

And then even later this March is A Day To Remember with Devil Wears Prada and a couple of other hardcore bands. It's busyyyyy.

And maybe Animal Collective later this June. I'm not totally sure because I really liked Strawberry Jam, but I think it was just a phase because I just don't like to listen to them as much anymore. But idk, might be worth seeing them I guess. I was planning to see a Matt & Kim show but eehhhhh. I really only liked Daylight and Yea Yeah off the two albums. :/

Blue Velvet's probably the best thing he's ever done, it's like a movie Lynch decided to actually plan out and write while most of his other stuff is more like "random scenes makes it surreal!!"

another recommendation: I think Inland Empire is the greatest collection of random scenes he's put together. It's kind of like watching the end of Mullholland Dr but for three hours. I'd recommend it, but idk, i could see that movie boring some people to death if you appreciate logical sequence. Plus the DVD has a bunch of great extra behind the scene footage of David Lynch being goofy and making the movie, which is defiantly worth watching if you're a Lynch fan.

I''ve always liked thier serious/emo stuff more than their older albums. they started, imo, getting less conventional and more original and interesting. Like I think hearing Robert Smith on a Blink 182 album for the first time was a pretty cool experience for me. and, idk, having an electronic back beat for the verses on Violence then breaking into punky chorus was cool, too.  There's actually a lot of cool electronic stuff going on the whole album.

i'm just trying to say that it was really stupid.

i lurk because a lot of the arguments here at gw are basically retarded.

or idk maybe you guys are joking or something and the whole first page of nonsense about sweaters and posting last fms to judge musical tastes is supposed to be funny.

^^^^basically why i lurk more than anything now.

For a while i never really listened to Blink 182 outside of (I guess) their singles. This was back when I was a total snob and thought that pop music in any form was terrible and that in order to be good music must have depth and meaning and metaphors and lots of bull artsy shit in it. I got of my high horse and gave some of their albums a listen and found that it's just really good, catchy, pop punk music.

They got progressively better as they released albums, so I'm pretty excited about the reunion and maybe a new album. I'm for sure going to see them live when they tour, their shows always looked like fun.

I've been watching a few of these "mumblecore" movies recently. They are kind of the anti-movie in the sense they don't have tight structures or plots that go somewhere. They have elements of Neo-realism, basically teenagers and twenty somethings talking, trying to find out what its all about. It's not as pretentious as it might sound.

Included: Dance Party USA (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0497351/), Quiet City (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0914382/), both by Aaron Katz. Both were pretty interesting. Mutual Appreciation (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0446747/), has been my favorite so far, this one directed by Andrew Bujalski. I'm going to watch his first film, Funny Ha Ha, which is kind of considered the first mumblecore film ever made.

I also watched Hana & Alice (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0407851/), a film directed Shunji Iwai, some of you might know him because he directed All About Lily Chou Chou, which I remember seeing some praise for in this forum once. It's pretty good, not on par with Lily Chou Chou, but it definitely has the same kind of feel, so if you liked the cinematography and music and montage style in Lily Chou Chou, you'll probably appreciate Hana & Alice.

All of these are on Netflix btw.

My apologies then, I guess. I just felt like you guys were ganging up on him for the most inane of reasons, and while he was being more or less civil about it, I felt like you guys were insulting him for no reason.

The point is you guys should stop being elitists and trolls. He already said he was wrong for assuming that he thought most foreign films were trash. He never tried to insult you or your intelligence (over movies, obviously the most important thing you can insult someone over) in any of his posts.

On the other hand passive aggressively...

Dude you are ridiculous, did you really think that only America made decent movies?

I guess it would make more sense if you're like 13 but if you're older than that I would imagine you would be a little more educated or something.

which I assume is why you ended up watching big hollywood explosions

Worst cases of unwarranted self importance on the film forums.

I don't think anyone should be really getting into the argument of whether or not certain countries make shitty movies. They all have their fair share of terrible shit. You don't hear about those movies because they are terrible. It's beyond me why you guys think there's a valid argument in saying something like, "a lot of Italian films are masterpieces" or "haven't even overheard people saying FOREIGN MOVIES ARE SO ARTISTIC," and basically not possess the extra curricular thinking to assume that not all foreign movies are amazing high art classics, and that Massy2k6 has seen some of the shittier movies that you guys haven't.

The fucking worst. Great job in assuming just as much about foreign films as he did. Stop being gay elitists because you've watched a few movies with subtitles, please.

EDIT:

Event Horizon (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0119081/), mostly because I've been so head over heels for Dead Space and remember some people comparing the game to this movie. It was interesting, and I can certainly see how it was an influence, but I think it was just too B-Movie for my tastes. Some of the story really doesn't make too much sense in retrospect and the characters do a few things which seemed to really just make sure the plot kept going. I remember being really freaked out by this movie as a kid, but this time around it didn't really work. The religious imagery is kind of obvious and really not too substantial. I guess it was entertaining though. The visual design was pretty cool.

I've been looking forward to this game for a little while now because I'm a big survival horror fan. I might rent it at Blockbuster when I get a chance.

The reviews so far have suprised me though, some reviews are calling this game the new benchmark in survival horror, check it out:
