sounds like you fixed it
Avast software updater says it's a critialc vulnerablilty, and i don't want that risk, so i updated it. The question is what to do now. Does anyone know if Quicktime Alternative can be used along wiht Quicktime?

So I realized I may have only mentioned this game in passing without drawing much attention. Not only did I compose much of the soundtrack (With some help from Wolframtones) but am involved in crafting the plot; please check out the demo! In time more work will be forthcoming, but  the artist/programmer is  taking a break and focussing on his Nuzlocke comic. Enjoy!

It's not opening the that's the problem, but creating them. Wolframtones uses math- procedural generation?- to randomly  generate midis in my browser using the parameters I specify, and unlike 'Music Mucker' it can be any type  or time pattern. I find it quite useful as a starting point for game music. Currently the website, which requires both Quicktime and Java, works wiht QT versions up to 7.6, but after installing the newest, version 7.7,  the site  asks for the quicktime plugin even though it's already installed; even if I've removed npqt.dll and restarted to clear possible corruption(something that can happen when using the progrma in Firefox) i get he mseeage. Of course firegfox and avast also compian about vilnerablities if I use the older version.
I've writtien to MAthematica asking the yupdate the program, but it may be a while before they do so. For right now I'm gingerly going back to 7.6, but wish I didn't have to.

OK so I'd been using the random generator at  Wolframtones to cook up  midis as a starting point fo rmusic, including nearly all my contributions to the soundtrack for Kirastar: The Polybius Problem, a game i've been involved in.. But the newest verison of Quicktime'-one of the required programs- doesn't seem to be recognized by the site, though the previous version is. I''d really like not to have any security holes but it's also frustrating not to be able to use the program. I've writtne Wolfram giving feedback and asking them to pupdate the site's compatibilty, but don't know if they will and would like advice here...

I was recently on the Dosbox site and they noted that from today until the end of the 20th a game called Torchlight is available for free on GOG.com. After reveiwing some information and discovering Torchlight is a FATE-like game, I decided to make na account and grab it. I thought you might want to check it out.

Hey guys, long time no see. SoAnyway, sincemy MCaffe Security Suite was set to expire in afew days I switche dto Avast - but I want to set up an addtionallayer of protection against mkalware and spyware, preferably free. There are so many different programs that scan (and in some cases, actively block) spyware and malware to choose from, and I'm getting rather bewildered. I rread reviews and asked advice of feel RMN emeber,s but realize i don't realy know their qualfications. Since many of yu actualy wokr in technical support I thught you might have some special insight into waht programs work the best...
Sadly I use a paid program it's called Spy Sweeper it's going to cost you but I love the dam thing.
Not having a job right now that's not a good option. What's the bese free one/ MAny peole suggest MAlwarebytes, thug one perosn who I belive wokrs in IT suggests SuperantiSPyware.
I used MAlwarebytes before i was not impressed and SuperantiSPyware looks legit it almost reminds me of the older versions of spy sweeper. (jugging by screenshot alone mind you.)
I've heard a lot fo  peole combon MBAm and SAS. and MBAM just blicked a suspcious site just before i typed this. however, i suspect that's aprt of the short-term pro trail.
That's what I do right now. I alos removed MCafee and installed Avast Free. (BTW, everyone ples update your JAva.

you should both make topics >:^|

videogames turn out to actually be a covert attempt to annihilate the entertainment industry by making infuriatingly banal things with just enough lingering sense of missed potential to spur the player into thinking about what could have been and thus heroically transforming them from passive spectators into engaged alert citizens of tomorrow

on reflection the last game i played was RAT CHAOS
that's funny, I thought they were for entertainment and social commentary. And with a Name Like Rat Chaos of course it was horrible. I know plenty of other games that are good.

Yeah, Noscript is useful but I generally only use it when I visit a site I don't know about.

I always have ABP running though.
Which for me is quite often. However,   I Have Mcafee Site Advisor installed, as well as antivirus,  so it warns me about sites. Usually i avoid things it blocks but there are some exceptions such as Zophar's Domain and the like.
What's ABP again?

I was getting too frustrated with Noscript, so removed it, but installed Ghostery so I can see what's gong on. I may add it back in the future but I really found it very frustrating.

DO you think Noscript is worth the trouble?
