I'm such an idiot. I decided HEH HEH MAYBE I'LL LISTEN TO THIS ALBUM FOR OLD TIMES SAKE cos I loved Eminem when I was 10 and I thought it would be fun to just dive into this album for an hour but yes, I'm an idiot and I've been listening to Eminem all week. I'm gonna write out what I think about every song and then I think I'll probably be so annoyed with myself I'll be done with it so let's go, my friends.
Dr West:
I actually quite like this skit. Dominic West is the english doctor on this skit - he plays McNulty in The Wire. He's actually english, yip! I think this is a good intro to the album basically it's self-deprecating and very slightly searching which is all Eminem had to be on this album.
3am:
This song is so stupid. I really like how it sounds though. I like the high voice thing, I think he done well to do that. I was kind of hoping he would do that voice for the whole album. The lyrics here are terrible and really dumb, though. The last verse flows excellent but it's still HAHA I'M A SERIAL KILLER. The bridge is great. It's just so stupid but I think this song pretty good in my ears.
My Mom:
He does storytelling in this one and he needed to do alot more of that on this album but he is a stupid prick and does nothing but rehash old things on this and I know it's called relapse but the thing about relapses is the increasing sense of despair not the bland rehasing of previous successes. It's got a good beat though, it's definitely the best Dr. Dre beat on this album.
Insane:
He tries to force a good one out of this. The voice is strong but it is such a lame idea.
Bagpipes From Baghdad:
Really? No, fucking hell. Like, do you know there is a b-side for this album called my darling which is probably better than every song on this album and this is what is in at track 5? The beat on this song is actually good. I really like it. This is one of the worst raps on the album though.
Tonya:
Fuck this.
Same Song And Dance:
Eminem is a stupid asshole.
Without Me You'll Just Lose It, Shady:
Heh heh
Medicine Ball:
I had higher hopes for this one because of the title but it's got christopher reeve references and the highlight of this song for me is when he admits the only reason he even talks about Christopher Reeve is cos his name rhymes with alot of words. The hook goes "I guess it's time for you to hate me again" and no, it isn't, really. No-one is going to care this time around? Which is exactly why this album gets it wrong. Eminem had a great album in him this time, he should had attacked himself for 70 minutes and the world would have went "whoah that was pretty good" but fuck this. He even thinks he means something, now, I think, and he did but he really doesn't anymore it was this that might have made him do so again but whoops.
skit
Stay Wide Awake:
This has got an eminem show style beat but he sticks an umbrella inside a vagina and blows it up in this song so fuck this and fuck him.
Old Time's Sake:
Dr. Dre is a grandad and Eminem is his weird friend who the kids wish would stop coming around to ask "how you doing?"
Must Be The Ganja:
Shut the face.
Mr Mathers:
This is kind of dumb but fine and the album gets alot better from here.
Deja Vu:
This has a shitty title but I think it is the best one on the album. He's actually talking here and he should have done this for the entire album but he's too much of an idiot or a coward or something. This song has a good beat and he just talks about himself and you listen and care so yeah this is good.
Beautiful:
So he's feeling sorry for himself but this is the only one like this on the album and I think it is pretty strong. The tears of a clown line clunks like a brick of lead but apart from that it is pretty good I think. Not as good as the last one but it's a great follow up.
Crack A Bottle:
I think this is a catchy song. It's stupid and shit, but I don't mind it.
skit
Underground:
I don't care.
Okay I'm done with this now.
