26th for NTSC. Not sure for PAL.  Also, pre-loads on Steam have started, but the servers are at full load, so good luck getting it to download.

As a quick tip for anyone preloading on Steam. Sit there for a couple of minutes constantly clicking preload and you will get in, a lot of people have gotten in this way. I did.

Been reading up on Borderlands inside other forums and have come across a few things that concern me, especially the duplicating glitch. The game hasnt been out for very long and already a few glitches have been found as well as some modding going on. Cant understand how the duplicating glitch was missed.. drop all your gear, disconnect from the game, re-enter and pick up the duplicates in co-op.. Im just worried I'll try to play online only to find everyone else geared with rare duplicates. Has anyone who's tried this online come across this?

You realise you don't have to play with people you don't know, right? A lot of people who have played it have been saying it's a bad idea to play with complete randoms because they won't care about sharing loot or anything like that. Also as far as I know if Gearbox catches anyone cheating they're gonna deal to them. Not sure how they're gonna deal to them.

I have a feeling for console players they'll get banned or something. Not sure.

I'm looking forward to playing co-op but no one I know owns or plans to purchase Borderlands (they all play COD) which means I'm screwed. I suppose duplicated gear wont effect me too much when playing the story mode in co-op but its the pvp which will really suffer I think with everyone wielding the same duplicated rare guns/shields.

PvP may not seem all that important at the beginning but when a person reaches the lv cap the only thing left for them to do is pvp, at least this was my experience with Diablo II which was owned by everyone duplicating their shit. I'll be interested to see if Gearbox actually bothers to fix the problem because somehow I find it hard to believe they didn't know about the duplication glitch before release, its such an obvious glitch that was found by a lot of players on the first day they got the game and I know a few of them even intended to check for this glitch before the game was even released.

In any case I suppose all I can do is try to avoid anyone I notice doing this as I plan not to ruin my gaming experience with stupid glitches.

This really doesn't look like much of a PvP game at all.

True but I do know they have some kind of Arena for those who want to pvp anyway.

I was just thinking about how to solve the duplication problem and thought to myself that if they made those orange, purple, blue weps which I believe are the rare ones non-droppable they could solve a lot of problems because not a lot of people would waste their time trying to duplicate white weps which are the most basic of weps and aren't worth anything. They could make it so if you don't want the weapon then you have to either sell it to a vending machine or destroy it.

There are two types of PvP in this game: Dueling, which you have to either initiate or accept.

and Arena, which you don't actually have to do and as far as I know it's only with the people in your party. It's not a true PvP game, at least it isn't just yet. It might be eventually in a later DLC though.

Duplicating isn't a big deal, anyway. Just because a weapon is more rare doesn't automatically make you a beast in this game. If your weapon proficiency in the gun is low, it doesn't matter how good the gun is. My SMG proficiency is at level 18 or something, so automatically my reload speed increases by 50%, I do 25% more damage every hit, and my accuracy is better. I could use a shitty smg on a guy and still win. Plus every weapon has a set level you need to be at before you can equip it. And you will never never find a weapon that completely tops every other weapon in this game. That's not how it works. I use some of my green and blue weapons over my orange rare ones.

Guys I hope this ad is real.

If so I can see Demon Soul, R&C Crack in Time and borderlands in my game roster in the near future.

Well this game more or less met my expectations. I currently have a lv 28 Soldier(apparently i'm classified as a "support gunner" which probably is cuz of my skill tree) and its awesome so far. Also in response to what DDay said above about maxing out, think about it. Would you want like 500 identical rolands running around online? I don't, the skill tree is meant  so you can can have a unique set up based on your prefrence and if you don't like your tree to respec which will take your points out of everything and reset them.

They don't, but they have seperate release dates for whatever reason. I'm just going on wikipedia though.
oh you were referring to an american region and a european region release date okay say that then because NTSC and PAL don't mean anything in association with software

I honestly had no clue this game even existed really but since I know about it now, it sounds like something I'd really like. I might consider this a purchase rather than a rent, I really love the rpg/fps ish genre these days.

God am I at a road block in the game, I am now level 30 and I am currently doing a quest in Old Haven. Its really difficult with all the heavily armored enemies roaming around the place and annoyingly placed enemies mounted on chain guns. Anybody else get past or is up to this point?

Use corrosive weapons. They're weak against it.

Ah thanks, made use of a corrosive shotgun and sniper I happened to have in my inventory and ripped em' to shreds though I did still die often cuz of the rather numerous amounts of badasses :/

I really like this game!  I like that it sits in a kind of unique space . . . a lot of action RPGs are light on the action and don't play that well, but are good RPGs, whereas this is light on the RPG and focused on tight action.

I'm not big on the "humor".  There are lots of jokes, but none of them are very funny.  And the running midget gag is actually pretty offensive!

But overall the game is really good.  I am really surprised by the amount of physical area in the game and how well designed it is.  A lot of games with big environments like this have kind of canned or boring environments and building interiors (like Bethesda RPGs).  But most of the side areas are pretty well-designed dungeons and everything.

Use corrosive weapons. They're weak against it.

It's too bad the game isn't more clear with this stuff.  Some of the early bosses I shot like a million times because I wasn't aware that there were real elemental weaknesses in the game.  I had just thought thought for the early parts that the elemental stuff just had special effects.

I'm just wondering since I don't have the game, how do you upgrade weapons and can you make your own weapons?

Oh man. Everytime I hear something new about this game, it sounds worse and worse.

The console version (PS3 especially) is apparently buggy as fuck. There is a whole bunch of game breaking bugs and some smaller bugs, a lot of them very easy to run into.
The game is also stupidly easy, and not very long.  (I did say ages ago, the game was about 20 hours long, but nobody believed me)

But the PC version is probably the worst part.
It is according to reviews (and people who have the pirated version) a crappy console port. It has shitty controls that look like they were added at the last minute, and at parts even has icons from the Xbox 360 version.

But it gets even better. The crappy PC port and the delay were apparently done on purpose, to make people more likely to buy a console version.
There was a whole shit storm on the developers and publishers forums a few days ago, about them wanting the PC version earlier, because it was already being sold in tons of stores, but DRM made it impossible to play until the 26th.
Eventually, the publisher decided to not release the game early, and gave two shitty reasons.
First reason was they couldn't "ship it out" fast enough. Even though there were confirmed reports from all over the world stating that the PC shipped at exactly the same date as the console version and tons of people had the PC version already. (In short, the publisher was blatantly lying about this).
The second reason was piracy.

Which brings me onto the next issue.
The PC version has been cracked (and the PC version is not even released yet, which makes the excuse of piracy a load of crap as well). You can download it now and it has absolutely no protection at all. You can play it offline or online just like someone who has purchased the game.

In short. Both the developer, and publisher of this game are lying bastards.  The game is over hyped to fuck. It'll still be a decent game, but is definitely not going to live up to it's hype.

Oh yeah. If you are thinking of getting the PC version. Pirate it. Otherwise have the publisher of the game laugh at you as they fuck you in the ass because you never got the console version like they wanted you to.

so what are these game breaking bugs and smaller bugs that are easy to run into that make the game suck
