I played Katawa Shoujo, first OELVN and came from 4chan. It's pretty good you know since it was well written specially from the fact it came from 4chan. It's generic school type thing but very professionally made.

Also Ever17 and Umineko. I cannot stress this enough. Just play those freaking two games to completion and tell me if Visual Novels suck. Ever17 is awesome. I am not joking. I made a VN hater love VNs because of it After grueling 100 hrs and don't think of getting yourself spoiled unless you guys want to have anti-zen since it won't make sense and destroy the whole plot of the game :|

I think visual novels and dating games need to be separated because you can hate dating games and still like visual novels (this is me)

They are different. Visual Novels like Narcissu doesn't even have dating sim elements. but at the same time Fate/Stay Night has dating sim reference but it's still a visual novel because basically you can't even woo the other 2 girls without getting Saber's route first. Ever17 isn't even a dating sim since no matter what in the end, Kid always get You and Takeshi will always have Tsugumi

Visual Novel = Different Endings and paths or Just a book
Dating Sim = get any girl you want without any direct storyline to follow e.g. the games in newgrounds dating sim.

Dating sims/visual novels are very similer if you cant play this for 10 mins then you might as well discard manga as well, books too. Try actully playing it before judging. If you tryed it and didn't like it, fair enough it's not for you.
