The only michael jackson music worth listening to is his old motown recordings

Don't listen to him gang! Off the Wall is terrific, and at least the songs that everyone knows from Thriller are great. Then things get a little wobbly.

Yeah, if you're not a big enough fan of michael jackson to care if he's dead you just simply don't listen to music.

I never really listened to much of his music but I feel really sorry for the guy. the past few years hes been labeled pedo, freak, etc. I actually really like the songs I listened to and he was a pretty cool looking guy (I watched the above vid) back in the day. His dances are totally narly *lol*.

It's not that I don't care (I do, I mean it is nuts but I'm just not feeling any personal grief which some people seem to be), I just want to know why some people are having such crazy reactions to this!

Its sad yea, mourn. But if in a fucking week they're still talking about michael jackson over the dozens of people being bombed in Afghanistan every few days then really. They, you, and everybody else that really thinks MICHAEL JACKSON really matters THAT MUCH can suck a fucking dick.

oh my god his music was so great

really

he was trained and taught to do that shit from the womb. And yes, he was very good at it. Gratz to him. But you don't have to keep riding his dick even though he fucked up as a person and music can only carry you so far.

specially when you're conditioned for it your entire life.

also billy jean really brought about some really thought provoking lyrics

The music was pretty but REALLY REALLY you've got the same people talking consistently about obscure bands no one ever listens to hobbling over goddamn michael, he wasn't that fucking great. Just that well known. And honestly kudos to him but I swear if I'm still hearing about this shit in a week everytime I turn the tv on, well I wouldn't really care cus thats what I expect but fuck. SOMETHING TO GOSSIP BOUT

Like many people it's still just a weird feeling, shocking weird feeling.

I have to admit i'm a pretty big fan of his, I LOVED his music growing up, and still pull out the history album every now and then.

It's pretty upsetting to me, but I guess it's because i was always a big fan of his, well, not the personal stuff but his music and the happiness it brought me when i listened to it.

R.I.P Michael.

Man, glad I wasn't old enough to like Freddie Mercury when he died :| I would've been shattered!

how boring does your life have to be that you get emotionally effected by the death of a pop singer who hasn't done anything in about a decade?
people are so up in arms about this because we've got this disgusting obsession with celebrities and the media gets saturated with all this sentimental garbage that people convince themselves that they SHOULD be feeling more strongly about this pop culture figure than they actually do. Remember all that bullshit when princess diana died? This is pretty much the same thing.

Pretty much everyone I have talked to in the last 2 days has brought this up at some point. It's hard to find present-minded ways to say "ehh...yeah it's weird...I suppose it's pretty weird...".

Actually, yeah. I have kind of had it in my head every time somebody brings it up that I should be considering is there something very special about Michael Jackson I am missing? All those classic hits, all the inspiration he has given to every who gives a flip who didn't know what else to say when someone asked about their inspirations, but I've decided at the end of it that nah. Not really. The guy made catchy pop songs, I guess they sound kind of nice in a way, and aside from a melancholy confusion at his junkie biomedia family and how they might react to it, I don't care. I just don't, and pulling the HIS CONTRIBUTION TO MUSIC crap is just disingenuous I think. Yeah sad when a person dies, but this is just the media feeding itself it's own diarrhea and I don't have the taste for it.

i'll probably cry when john waters dies, not gonna lie

i had a dream where he died and i refused to believe it and then the next morning i woke up and bea arthur was dead and my first thought was "thank goodness it wasn't john"

if he was your favorite musician i could see how this would hit you pretty hard!  he was just about to go on tour and he died suddenly.  we all have famous figures that we care a lot about whether it's reasonable or not, and we're not going to be too happy when they die.  just because it's not michael jackson for any of us doesn't mean it doesn't matter to other people.  leave them alone.

you are the second stupidest person still here

to theother guys no it's not that hard to understand. yes the media blows, how profound. he was a great musician actually, I know it's a lot of fun to be FEH POP but it's stupid to downplay his music because you don't like it. and yeah, I definitely think to see him go so suddenly is sad. you can disagree, you don't have to be affected by his death who cares, it does not make you a boring person. but in flowerpower's defense I think he was responding to internet people like ed (good luck, I hope your dad's ok). maybe not.

He was a massive icon of the western popular culture in general, not just music. Pretty much the embodiment of pop stardom, scandalous celebrity, all that. Not only does everybody know him, because of his private life everyone also has an opinion on him. The strong reaction really isn't a surprise.

And Coxswain, what the hell?

He sucks because he's been doing it since a little kid? A bit like Mozart and the Williams sisters? And what does people listening to obscure artists have to do with anything? No, he really was that fucking good. He wrote his songs himself, was really one of the best singers ever and a fun fact: really a great dancer too, an idol to many professional dancers.

Alright this doesn't concern you personally and you didn't like his music so no personal sorrow. But the people talking about how this really isn't a big deal, "people die every day you know", just don't know or understand what they're talking about.

This topic has too little Michael Jackson music.
Michael around 12 years old, Ain't No Sunshine
I'm gonna light a fucking candle.
