No? I never said he sucked.

I said yes, he was very talented. But something I remember jackson admitting in one of his interviews is that his father pushed, abused, and drove him and his siblings since his youth to be a pop star. Its basically all he knew and all he really GOT TO LEARN since being a kid.

So I dunno, his music was great but every time I hear it, it reminds me of that and I'm just like; ugh kind of bullshit. Because its not something he actively got to choose and work for, its something that deprived him of his youth and basically was a big reason in him being so fucked up.

Quote from: wiki
From a young age Jackson claims he was physically and emotionally abused by his father, enduring incessant rehearsals, whippings and name-calling, but also contends that his father was a strict disciplinarian that played a large part in his success. [8][9] In one altercation—later recalled by Marlon Jackson—Joseph held Michael upside down by one leg and "pummeled him over and over again with his hand, hitting him on his back and buttocks".[10] Joseph would also trip up, or push his male children into walls. One night while Jackson was asleep, Joseph climbed into his room through the bedroom window. Wearing a fright mask, he entered the room screaming and shouting. Joseph said he wanted to teach his children not to leave the window open when they went to sleep. For years afterwards, Jackson suffered nightmares about being kidnapped from his bedroom.[10]

Jackson first spoke openly about his childhood abuse in a 1993 interview with Oprah Winfrey. He said that during his childhood he often cried from loneliness and would sometimes get sick or start to vomit upon seeing his father.[11][12][13][14] In Jackson's other high profile interview, Living with Michael Jackson (2003), the singer covered his face with his hand and began crying when talking about his childhood abuse.[10] Jackson recalled that Joseph sat in a chair with a belt in his hand as he and his siblings rehearsed and that "if you didn't do it the right way, he would tear you up, really get you"

he was trained and taught to do that shit from the womb. And yes, he was very good at it. Gratz to him. But you don't have to keep riding his dick even though he fucked up as a person and music can only carry you so far.

this post is an internal judgement of him because he's "fucked up as a person" and apparently his music career is not enough for your to forgive just how fucked up he is. also if he's good at music all it's because he was trained (like the ape he is LOL) from the womb, so THAT isn't his fault. being fucked up is his fault, but being a good musician is another thing

your second post is some sort of convoluted heap of pity. but it's some weird kind of pity that allows you to not give a shit about his music, even the stuff he made on his own after he made it big, AND not give a shit when he dies of a heart attack.......likely, in no small part, due to lifelong stress

He fucked up as a person because he allowed that shit to make him do things that he should not have done. He should not have dangled his kid over a fucking balcony rail and he should not have gone to bed with little kids. Child abuse does not excuse that behavior but it does kind of explain it.

There are plenty of people that are abused as children that do not do shit like this, this is something you should realize is wrong. Thats how he fucked up.

I honestly could not care less about his music to begin with. But I do recognize that he was talented and made alot of money with said talent. But at which point in your life after suffering through child abuse does it leave you? I don't know why he continued to make music, maybe he loved making music and decided to do it even with said circumstances, good for him but at the same time I also recognize that his ability to do so was spawned from child abuse so thats pretty fucked up regardless.

I do not like the fact that he did not personally choose to begin with to be a musician. His father made him do it. He probably kept choosing to do it after he legally became an adult but at the same time damage was already done so you don't know what choices he might have made if he didn't have an asshole forcing shit on him from an early youth.

And no, I will not worship and celebrate michael jackson just because he made alot of money making music that is not what music is about to me and it takes more than BIG HITS AND BEST SELLER to make music good for me. so no, I do not care to at any extensive point other than "wow that kind of sucks oh well" for a split second because damn, alot of people die every fucking day for some really fucked up reasons and no one bothers mentioning them, but when a pop star dies the whole world stops turning for a few days. I think that is very hypocritical and sad as shit.

i am not affected by his death in any significant manner whatsoever, like the others i'm just a bit weirded out. i was just trying to say it's not STRANGE for people to get emotional over a HUGE pop star's death. you guys are dumb, wow no way his death is being discussed all over the news immediately after it happened?? i wonder why?? yes lets compare them to afghan people being killed because that's exactly the same thing right

wow who cares. i guess you should just shrug off 90% of other musicians who's parents pushed them to learn instruments or music as children.

See I honestly have no problem with anyone in this thread, but its a little silly that people I know who actively insulted him all of a sudden became his biggest fan overnight. I go to my facebook and I see so many disingenuous people.

Don't get me wrong, I understand why this is a huge deal. The man is a music legend and many loved him. But I hate how some people just change their opinions just because he died. But that's not really something I see in this thread, just a personal annoyance.

Now, I loved some of his songs and I really did hope that he'd one day get his shit together. Although, to be honest I'm not a huge fan and I am not personally affected by his death. The thing is, that he died in the worst way possible and the worst time too. I mean, this is basically what people have been waiting for. They've been waiting for this guy to finally go back to the man of old that everyone had eyes for back in the 80's.  He was going to go to England in like 2 weeks on tour, and according to people who were working with him, it was going to be some really amazing shit.  I think he even said "See you all in July".

Bam he's dead. It's just so random. I mean, I wasn't going to be there, I probably wasn't even going to check it out. But I can sympathize with the people who were really waiting all this time for him to get back out there and he just got taken away. The guy had fucking kids as well and god I feel so awful for them.

You also have to consider that he had a terrible childhood and as a result he never really grew up. He gave back to kids and really seemed to genuinely love them. I don't know if he ever truly molested a kid, but if he didn't you can only imagine how soul crushing it must have been to be him.  Also, people can be so fucking stupid sometimes about just about anything. Yes, we get that you don't dangle your child outside a balcony but I don't think he was , like, trying to tease the crowd with it like a you would do with a dog and biscuits. He was just like "Oh hey man fans look mah babeh". Sure it was dumb, but stop making a big deal out of it for fucks sake.

The thing is, Michael Jackson was someone EVERYONE knew. He wasn't some musicians that you could hear his music in an elevator and not know his name and someone would go "Hey how could you not know that". Pretty much the most ignorant people in the world knew this guy. He's been around for the whole damn generation and he was pretty young too. He had a lot of vigour to him and he really seemed like he would be around for much longer. That's why its so tragic and so damn weird to people.

If you don't care, that's fine. It's better than being a hypocritical bitch. But for God's sake, how can you not see why this is a big deal?

Also, let's be quite honest. If he didn't die, the news would be filled with some other trivial shit. Afghan war? that's still in the news. Iran blowing up - yep still in the news. Stop fucking exaggerating.

wellll what annoys me about this whole situation is that people couldn't even wait for his bowels to reflexively evacuate before they started making their favorite decade-old michael jackson pedophilia joke.  i guess i'm a PRUDE but shitting on a guy when he just died is kind of bad form, you know?

Terrible form. They're too involved with the I H8 JACKSON hype that they disregard the fundamentals of the Jackson case. For one, yeah, had a really shitty childhood. Of course he was going to turn out weird. It's kind of tragic, really. Remember too that Mozart was kind of a moral backwash. Still came out with some great music. People hate Jackson because he's weird, and because he's got bad press. They don't really factor in his music, or his child abuse. The hate on MJ is all just hype.

Two, the prosecutors in the People v. Jackson (the court case regarding the alleged child molestation) seem to have a history of lawsuit extortion. In one incident, the mother tried to sue some police officers for $3 million dollars, saying that they abused her when the entire family was detained on a charge of shoplifting. She was reported to have started a fight with the officers, and on later psychiatric evaluation was found to be depressed and somewhat delusional. The psychologist hired by JCP found in addition that she had rehearsed her kids to tell the court what to say. Using the courts to milk incidents like that is really, really fucking stupid. The charges on shoplifting were eventually dropped, and yeah it sucks to be detained and everything, but it's retarded to run back to the courts with some bullshit bag of lies and a mean streak. She actually came BACK 2 YEARS LATER with another lawsuit, saying that one of the officers sexually fondled her for 7 minutes. Complete bullshit, right? FUCK I SCREWED UP ON MY TAXES THIS YEAR WHADDOIDO? I KNOW, I'MA FUCKING SUE! Yeah. With regard to the Jackson case, there was hardly any evidence for the prosecution, and the fact of the matter is they didn't take this to court for 20 years. These people are money-grubbing sons of bitches.

Yeah, Jackson sure was a damn weird guy, but I loved his music when I was a kid. Shame that he went.

EDIT: About that hanging-kid-over-balcony incident, people do stupid shit with their kids like that all the time. For instance, throwing your kid up and down. I've seen dads chuck their kids up like fucking footballs. Yeah, it was an nsanely stupid thing to do. However, there is hardly any evidence pointing toward the idea that he was a bad, abusive parent. Clearly, more media bullshit.

I caught the video for this song Jackson released back in 2001 I think.

It's so strange. He's got the moves, and the song is better than pretty much anything he put out in the 90s. But it's like watching a cartoon really. It's like watching Jim Carrey dance around as The Mask. A shadow of his former self. And that's really sad. And this was nearly a decade ago, how would these planned concerts in July have panned out?

Don't you have homework to do pi-head, drawing some practice sigmas or something? We're discussing the finer, more aesthetic side of life.

It is sad but like it's been mentioned, the media are really whoring it out and as someone else mentioned, people are randomly starting to "like" his music just because he's dead. But hey, the media does that with pretty much everything anyways.

He did have some cool songs though.

Mays was found dead by his wife in his Tampa home on June 28, 2009.[2][1][14] The Associated Press reported that there was no indications that the house had been broken into, and that police did not suspect foul play.[14]

According to Fox News, Mays had been on board a US Airways flight that blew out its front tires as it landed at a Tampa airport on June 27, the day before his death. None of the 138 passengers and five crew members were injured in the incident, but several passengers reported having bumps and bruises, according to the station. It is unsure whether Mays' death was related to the incident.[2]

On the morning of June 28, 2009, prior to the reports released by Fox News and the AP, Mays' son, Billy Mays III, reported his father's death in a posting on his Twitter page.[15]
