Downloaded DOOM from the xbox live arcade at first i was thinking why the fuck did i buy this then i played it,it was AWESOME so im playing that now

is it awesome? play it more and let me know, i've been thinking about picking that up for a while.

Just played through Mirror's Edge.  It was meh.  I'm currently hammering through Risen, which I'm pleased to say is basically Gothic 4 with better controls.

If you wanted to play Doom you probably should have downloaded one of the source ports. A source port in basically a new engine for the game made for modern computers. They have more options and you can even run them at any resolution you want. They don't come with the wad file (this contains all the graphics and levels and whatnot), which you can download pretty much anywhere. If you didn't want to feel like you were pirating it, Doom is available on Steam (and I'm sure it comes with the wad file so you can use it with any source port).

How does one install it? just dump everything into the maps folder? (as well as making a backup of course) In which case, are they supposed to replace the old files? because they have a different file extension then the ones in the zip.

there's a read me that should come with the files but yes basically you just dump the new textures and there is one small alteration you need to make to the deusex.ini file but i can't remember what that is right now, sorry.

It's the best renderer for DX that's out. It also replaces the EXE and makes it more configurable (i.e. scalable UI at hi screen res).

If you have any problems with your computer just slowing down and crashing or anything like that go into the task manager, find the DX process and set affinity to one core.

I have a suspiscion that this mod uses one core by default but normal Deus Ex caused me a lot of trouble in the past with it's pooping itself over my modern PC.

Just started playing APB. For those who aren't familiar with it, it's an MMO that just came out today. It's by the guy responsible for Grand Theft Auto (the GUY, not the COMPANY) and is essentially just a gigantic game of cops and robbers.

I've only played for an hour so far and just did tutorial stuff, no actual PvP. Seems promising, but I'll have to wait until tomorrow before I can form a decent opinion of the game.
