ugh I regret buying FIFA 10. it's fun in some ways but have you guys not realised yet that you CANNOT EVER score headers, or score from corners? free kicks are nearly impossible as well! that's a fucking massive flaw in a football game!

I have never scored a free kick in ANY FIFA game ever. I've scored a few headers though but none of them have ever been been real bullet header or anything, more deflections of the heads of my players, you know? Also is it me or are the graphics for FIFA 10 not as good as the FIFA 09 graphics?

i have scored about 5 free kicks so far. andrea pirlo to win the game 4-3 was the best one, in off the post past iker casillas. as for corners all it takes is to pull a few defenders around. this is much easier when you create the set-piece yourself.

Yeah what Rockman says, if you press select on the training screen you can practice free kicks and set pieces etc.

The trick is to curl the ball by flicking the left analog stick after you release the button to kick. I scored one from the edge of the box curling it in off the right post the other day. It was most satisfying.

Headers from corners are easy too.

it always helps to have the right men taking your free kicks too. it doesn't just depend on their stats, you've got to think about which foot they're going to use and subsequently what kind of shot or cross you're going to take from that position. this is something i learned from football manager and it has paid off big time. then again in FM if you have riquelme taking your free kicks you can expect roughly 2 goals a game so maybe this has skewed my perception a little ;)

man i still don't know. i've played about 50 games by now as well as a whole virtual pro season (on various difficulties in both cases) and i always seem to score just inside the box, slightly to the left/right, aiming into the top/mid left/right of goal. occasionally i score by chipping it over the keeper too. i've scored one deflected header, but generally corners seem far too easy for the defence to pick up.

don't get me wrong its a decent game i just really think these points should have been worked on more. i've also noticed the game changes difficulty even if you don't. i played about 10 games of my virtual pro season on amateur to get used to the game (then realised you dont get accomplishments so i upped it), and i banged in like 7 goals against man u as a striker (playing for spurs), then i'd play some fairly shit team like portsmouth, have a million chances on goal, but they would have a superhuman goalkeeper who you just COULD NOT score against EVER. nobody else experienced this?

i started an fm2010 game where i was originally going to fire everyone and build up a new squad but i couldn't afford to sever all those contracts so now i am just making it a savegame where i ruin everything on purpose to see what happens (i do this in almost every game, i think most people do)


first game i put all 10 men as close to the opposing goal as possible, nobody on defense, everyone in the wrong position, goalkeepers as strikers, and some random dude in the goal (i was hoping the game would let me have no goalkeeper but no such luck)

i lost 1-12

that means i GOT A GOAL THIS WAY

i have had games where i actually tried and got no goals so i am very disappointed that THIS wreck could get one

oh i also tell the media that my team is a huge failure and constantly storm out of press conferences, and i am going to give all of my players terrible nicknames

definitely play the smallest person in your team in goal and set their player instructions to ALL-OUT ATTACK. also set the team instructions to the zaniest things possible

i will definitely try this, btw i scored again in my second match, almost did twice but i was offside.  i think it was 1-8

i am accepting requests for terrible nicknames to give my players

edit: jesus 2-4, it's like my team is sucking so much that they're going to flip from 000000 to 999999 and start winning matches

i could definitely tell a difference between PES09 and PES10, although i couldn't quite put my finger on what the difference was it just FELT WRONG

never played FIFA09 tho so i don't know if i would agree with you there or not

if you mean my post i was talking about fm2010, but idk maybe fifa has them too i only played the demo

OOoooohh nvm, I thought you were talking about fifa. That stuff makes sense in a football manager game cause that's what managers do.
