Just played King Kong 2 for the Famicom. Don't play it very often because it's very frustrating, but today I actually made way more progress in it than I ever have before. It's basically like Zelda except no saving, no real sense of direction, and warps EVERYWHERE that take you who knows where. This game is HUGE. You have to collect some number of keys (not sure) by beating bosses, except there's no clear indication of where the bosses are. You just go through all these hidden warps until you find one. In the past I had only ever found one once and it killed me, but this time I found two and beat them both. I feel like I was pretty close to finding a third, but I finally got killed. Wish I knew more about the scoring, because 197800 seems impressive but probably isn't since I only got two keys. Oh well, I really felt like I was kicking ass in this game today but I'll probably start playing it on my Wiz instead so I can use savestates (and play it on the go). It's a shame having the real game and playing it on an emulator instead, but fuck this game is unbeatable without them and without a walkthrough or map or anything whatsoever.
