I'm currently playing:
Modern Warfare 2:Damn, I've never really used LIVE much for anything other than downloading demo's and such, and prior to buying MW2, I'd only played a few games of Halo 3 and a bit of Gears of War on LIVE, but MW2 is pretty addictive, though I've not played much of the campaign (I got up to the "oh my god this game is controversial and violent and will turn us into terrorists despite having the option to skip it given to us multiple times... THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!!... That shouldn't legally be playing this game >:[" ][/"]Bad Company 2:[/b]
As a fan of Bad Company due to it's "blow shit up" engine and it's more light hearted approach to warfare story telling, I had to get BC2.
Having only bought it today, I can't say much about it, but it definitely feels like the difficulty has gone up a bit, which is good as I beat BC on it's hardest setting first, then only played on normal for achievements.
I tried the vastly increased online modem but it just sat at a loading screen for about 5 minutes before I got pissed and exited to the 360 dashboard, which is disappointing as MW2's online mode works well and only rarely shunts me back to the menus.
EA \ DICE uses dedicated servers while Infinity Ward opted for user based match hosting, so it's possible that the servers were experiencing heavy load at the time (I was informed that I had bought the last available 360 copy of BC2 as it had sold out pretty quickly).
The idea of being able to find vehicles on maps as opposed to MW2's killstreak rewards is another plus for me as new players don't have to wait to unlock them and stay alive long enough to use them.
Another issue I have with BC2 is that there's no solo deathmatch mode, which is kinda odd and annoying as I prefer deathmatch to team games.
Final Fantasy 8 (PS3):From when Square made good games.
I tried playing FFVII again, but I just can't get into it, but FFVIII seems to be OK.
If it didn't have random-battle-itis and it had modern visuals, it'd probably have people saying Square remembered how to make games that don't make people hate them.
These days though, I'd rather play Mass Effect (either) or The Elder Scrolls... Possibly Dragon Age, though I didn't love it as other people seem to.
P.S.
For more proof that Square are idiots, look at the release date of FF13 in Europe... A Tuesday?
I don't know about the land of raw fish and tentacle porn, but we usually get paid on a Friday unless we're paid monthly, but I suppose it's just another excuse for buying Battlefield instead
