you're kinda biased as a computer major, we have a zoo full of requests for linux torrents and napster and itunes and etcetera have emerged from the corpse of music sharing on 56k. people still do things based on convinience, if it'll take you half an hour to find a torrent with seeds of LIVE ACTION POKEMON MOVIE DIRECTED BY JOHN WATERS vs a 20 cent download you bet your socks people are going to torrent it less.

Much like world sporting events like the Wolrd Cup, or the Olympics will bring together different nations in friendly competition, (note the recent Asian Cup; Iraq vs. Saudi Arabia, no violence there) we come together. The differences being, we are not divided by our nationalities and we do it 24-7, and on a personal level.

We are a community without borders and without colours, the spirit and diversity of the gaming community is one that should be looked up to, a spirit and diversity other groups should strive toward.

I don't get it, do most computer majors get like a "Torrenting 101" class or something? How are we biased? I'm a computer science major and I'm terrible at finding torrents/youtube videos/using google (mostly because I never need to do any of that stuff). There are some computer majors who aren't "l337 haxxors google pro torrenter" folks.

sorry bro but if you know what torrents are and you're actively looking to download them you know how to find them

my mom does not know about torrents and guess what she doesn't know what the pirate bay is either, the pirate bay closing affects only those people going there in the first place, and that crowd is who matters here--they are not going to have a problem finding things elsewhere and you are completely wrong about this and so stop talking shut the fuck up climbtree you're the dumbest with the dumbest arguments

i don't know. there's a lot of casual torrent users and thepiratebay is really one of the only quality sites you can go to that isn't full of viruses, spyware, whatever except for invite ones which most people don't care enough to get into other than INTERNET FOLK. so i think this will probably have a substantial impact for at least a while

Yeah, what he said, basically. I am so plagued by guilt when torrenting in the first place, that seeing teh Bay go down means I must graduate to "harder drugs". And all my teachers since pre-school warned me about doing that....

why do you think sites like mininova and thepiratebay were popular if it's just as easy to get stuff from somewhere else? better advertising?

you are stupid as hell sorry, you said this won't affect torrenting and people will actually download more out of spite. maybe this is just me but there's been countless times i've typed something into mininova and if it wasn't there that's where i quit. it's not that i couldn't have found it somewhere else i just couldn't be bothered.

i think its just you, because if I can't find it on mininova or demonoid, I make it my INTERNET QUEST to find this thing. Less because I want whatever it is I'm trying to torrent (unless its something that I've really wanted) and its more just for the sense of accomplishment in that I HAVE TRIUMPHED OVER THE INTERNETS.

i only do that with stuff i really want, quite often someone will recommend me a band so i'll look for their discography and if it's taking too long to find an album i just don't bother.
