i love talking about videogame websites

yes!!

That’s right, you have the young gaming with the old(er), white people gaming with black people, men and women, Asian countries gaming with the EU, North Americans gaming with South Americans. Much like world sporting events like the Wolrd Cup, or the Olympics will bring together different nations in friendly competition, (note the recent Asian Cup; Iraq vs. Saudi Arabia, no violence there) we come together. The differences being, we are not divided by our nationalities and we do it 24-7, and on a personal level.

We are a community without borders and without colours, the spirit and diversity of the gaming community is one that should be looked up to, a spirit and diversity other groups should strive toward.

I haven't stopped making games, am I alone here?
*silence*
Okay I get it...
I think rpgmaker has grown old, and you don't see the same amount of people interested in it, and this community was pretty much based around it.
And about the other boards, I think the some of the oldies of the site already left, and maybe some new ones aren't that compromised with the site because it doesn't mean the same it meant for the previous ones...
I have been on GW since rpgmaker.net died many years ago, and I wouldn't call the site dead. You can see new topics everyday, and I keep checking the site many times a day, even though I don't post much in general, I always check the topics and love reading them, this site has been very important to me.
ok enough drunk posting....

there are a few reasons really

- people lost interest in rpgmaker and game development
- there was a long period of time when all the active admins were all admins who had never really been that interested in the site (and we were hired to maintain forums, back then bart was still developing gw6 and at some point we had site admins as well but that didn't work out), and none of us really knew what we should do with the site or have the motivation to do it. even after we had to start working on it, nothing was really organized so things didn't work out
- lack of motivation/activity by other staffers as well, though with the activity we have and the fact we hardly get any new members, this isn't surprising
- community kind of split in two, though this isn't really an issue anymore. there were those who visited gw just for g&d forums and those who didn't give a shit about it and thought it was horrible. there were lots of arguments and people often got pretty vocal and i'm sure many felt like that they don't feel that welcome on gw anymore
- gw used to be nicer, and it's a fact. i'm not surprised that a lot of outsiders wouldn't feel at home here. bart was pretty adamant about people not swearing on the site, staff and mods were generally nicer and there were less flaming and sarcasm etc.
- y2dazz stopped posting.. this is the biggest reason

I actually think people on GW are some of the nicest people on the internetz,  sure some GW jokes can be somewhat weird, but I have never gotten in an argument in here, and all the people I've talked with are really nice and educated.

GW was actually the first really community I stuck with when I first got an internet connection.  I think I joined back in 2002 I think, so it's kind of weird to think back then and see where things have come in the past six to seven years.  I slowly grew from RPG Maker and pretty much drifted around the forum until my horizons expanded elsewhere, though I could never leave this place entirely.  It just sucks to see how many people have come and gone since I don't ever see a lot of the older people anymore.  Erave, Tenchu, Jumar, Phatradeph, RG, Pyrate, Omniferce, Legacy001, Senior Behemoth and so many more.  Seeing all the fads come and go, the music circles, GW plushies, GW cards, Lith's Jizzy Riblets prank (so awesome back in the day), the controversy over that FF0 game that was being praised as the second coming.

Ah, well.

RG really was nice, I know my first project sucked back in the day but she always had encouraging words.  Then again back then a lot of people were far more encouraging.  I think this was way back when she was doing that Tales of Muiragi: Side Story game.

This topic kinda proves that there are actually people around here. Thing is there's no one making events or topics worth posting in so everybody's in lurker-state. My theory's that it's summer pulling away people from being creative on the internets and boink each other in the real world instead, but I dunno >_>

Since the whole world's pretty much in a hibernate status (no interesting terror-attacks, just a bunch of famous people dying and not a single extraterrestial phenomenom popping up on earth) you should start making stupid simple events, you gays.

Wasn't Bart terribly goonish and would reply with one-liners like STOP POSTING or YOU ARE DUMB.

I think I get your point; a long time ago, mods were actually people with a genuine interest in what was being posted in their forums. Currently, very few do. Everybody seems to have given up, and I do think that's a big shame. There are a bunch of people who should have given up that status long ago (but maybe just kept it because they wanted to be in on the GW development plans).

But Bart was actually one of the worst in this regard. He hardly posted anything of substance except in his own topics.
