Yeah, so, I was never a major poster or a big part of the community, but...

I found this site because I was (fifteen?) and looking for indie games. I stayed for the RP forum, and because there was usually a good crop of new, if rarely finished games to play. I didn't have much to do in my small Maine town except smoke pot and come here.
Then there was a forum purge that killed all the classic RP topics, and that was the beginning of the end for me.

Then I learned how to talk to girls, graduated from high school, got a job, started college, got a house and I can buy alcohol, but most of all...

I'm 21. Not fifteen. I don't have the time, and when I do, no one else is interested in RM2K any more.

EDIT: And a forum is pretty far from dead when there's upwards of thirty people online at one in the morning.

Why? Because nothing beats a fighting squid.

Nothing.

Deep down, I kind of knew that this site would EVENTUALLY die, I mean...things don't last forever. I'm not sure why, it's a comibination of things that the past posters have talked about, my two cents is laziness and the fact that we are getting older, there are more important things in life that is eating up our time. It's not that we hate game making or not, it's just...it's too time consuming and stuff, I'll always be making games or interested in game making in general, but I would rather go to school, get a good job, and make games on the side and be...like alone. Besides, it's so hard to log on these forums and stuff. I would much rather work on the game.

If GW does die, then it should be fine. We do have sites like RMN (which just launched V3 if I'm not mistaken) and RRR is still quite a lively place, Tigsource is nice. I probably won't bother to hang with either one, but still...there are communties still alive.

My hats off to you GW, you've been around for so long, you deserve a nice funeral when it's all said and done.

By I'm taking bets now. I say this site dies on X-Mas Eve, so they can blame the death of GW on Santa.

PS: Thanks mods for not banning my account after my last post, I'm a bit surprised actually. Meh, just wanted to offer my two cents and say Hi Ma! ^^

nobody cares about you dude I don't think you got that yet.

no one cares about monopoly no one hates you you aren't worth it and you only got banned because you kept coming and going and whining about how everyone hates you when no one really cares and thought it was funny at best.

Yeah, I was planning on writing another article a few months ago, then my brother decided to start playing World of Warcraft and asked me to level up with him.  Needless to say, I fell off the WoW recovery wagon pretty hard thanks to my obsessive nature when it comes to achievements.  Five months later and all I have to show for it is an intense hatred of Battle Grounds and a lousy awesome Shaman who racked up over 1000 Achievement points before hitting level 50.
Something about sharing his password, can't remember. :fogetmmh:

If there's one thing I learned from grinding the Warsong BG, it's that most of the players are content to hang around the middle fighting and not make a big effort to grab the enemy flag or stay in the base guarding their own.  If you want your group to succeed, you have to be the one to get things done.  What I'm trying to say is that we should all take some time to produce something in order to energize the site, we've come too far to just quit without one final effort.

I am getting this strange vibe from you that you're a really big fan of WoW.

Hold your horses. GW isn't dead/dying yet.

Decline in activity =/= A website being dead.

I don't know where the "GW is dying" notions are coming from. Is it just because Drule is changing the forums and site around?

Regardless, even with the rate of decline we have at the moment, GW still has well over a year of life left, hopefully even more than two or three years. Yeah, GW is inactive looking compared to LARGE communities, but as a SMALL community, GW is actually quite active.

After all this talk of GW's decline I've seemed to come back here almost every day, as compared to a few months ago where I didn't visit at all let alone post.

I grow older, but GW it seems will always be with me........     IN SPIRIT

It's just that the main site didn't need to be changed. Now it's worse. And there's never going to be any activity, we all know it. The old main site was fine, even though it was far inferior to GW 5 and was also dead.

Yeah, GW5 had resources and Coaster Craft Gold.
It was perfect.

I actually considered it several times, not gonna lie.  Never did try it, but I thought about it every time I saw it.
