Drule i think that the average member needs more input into the direction of GW like they have for the last 5 iterations. these are the facts drule, and we decided them together.
the front page needs to be constantly updated with LOADS of content. i'm talking twice a day. people want to read constantly, especially gamers, so long articles about college or pirates would be perfect for attracting new members. furthermore, if there's a constant stream of them, this will mean users have to be on the site constantly! if they miss some or go to sleep, they'll have to spend extra time the next day reading the content!
honestly new members used to come from random dudes searching how to do X in Y maker, now they come from chefs youtube account. it doesn't matter if the main page was static because they'd see it once. if you want them to sign onto the forums you can't answer their questions, you need them to have to sign up to ask WHERE'S THE HELP FILE
