How much would it bother you if the forums were integrated into the mainsite with a fixed width of 800px (or something around that width)?

The reason why we want to do this is because the mainsite will be section-based with several frequently updated subsections that requires frequent reading much like the forums do.

I see nothing wrong with doing that. If anything it would get people to browse both the forums and mainsite more than they would if they were seperate entities.

Don't care about the mainsite integration but the fixed width would probably annoy the hell out of me cause I tile my windows a lot and opera fit to width is rubbish sometimes. but yeah please don't do it fixed width if you can avoid it

I could see about making a SWITCH TO FULLSCREEN button that alters between the integrated skin and the current skin, but that would have to be a future update.

I'm somewhat concerned that it might end up cluttered, but as it stands the mainsite and forum and complete separate entities and this would probably be a really good idea.

Do it, just do it CAREFULLY.

EDIT: I have no idea what your plans are, but make sure the skins match or everyone will explode

What about just having a percent width instead of a fixed width?

I don't like the idea either. I'd prefer a small thing on the side, going with what's active, what's popular, etc.

Because it looks weird having a static width object, such as an image, on a 1000px or wider page. Websites usually also look bad on wide or big screens with dynamic width.

It would be around 800px wide and have a header section above the entire forum. Again, look at http://forums.tigsource.com/ to see how it's embedded.

That’s right, you have the young gaming with the old(er), white people gaming with black people, men and women, Asian countries gaming with the EU, North Americans gaming with South Americans. Much like world sporting events like the Wolrd Cup, or the Olympics will bring together different nations in friendly competition, (note the recent Asian Cup; Iraq vs. Saudi Arabia, no violence there) we come together. The differences being, we are not divided by our nationalities and we do it 24-7, and on a personal level.

We are a community without borders and without colours, the spirit and diversity of the gaming community is one that should be looked up to, a spirit and diversity other groups should strive toward.
