yeah I'm not really that concerned about it I'm just trying to sum up all cinematography of present-day movies in a single paragraph or something because I'm pretty sure it's possible
Edit: oh god Trash Head 2 is here he will sum it up in 5 words
Edit: says something nice seriously some of the stuff from GW is the most authentic stuff I've seen in ages even if it is painfully ironic sometimes I was looking at freeware game site on the other topic and only one or two games didn't feel like ridiculously obsessively idealistic versions of childhood games and one of those games was barkley
Edit: basically I have a strong hatred of games overly concerned with pleasing color harmonies/hyper-consistent game aesthetic/trying to look exactly like it came from 1993 in this hyperreal way like it's literally pointing out things that were always drawn funky in old games but never actually noticed on a conscious level
Edit: barkley was sort of this on paper but with barkley I never got the feel like chef boyardee spent hours of research looking exactly at how the dumpsters looked in 2300 A.D. in Chrono Trigger. Basically everybody make games with appealing graphics without having some dead Japanese videogame artist lead you by the hand every step of the way like a big dumb baby
Edit: Every Japanese videogame artist from the 90's is dead now
Edit: this is seriously exactly what I wanted to say though, every game I've seen on coolgamewebsite.com gives me this creepy vibe like the designers of each game have a massive windows folder of like 80,000 various game screenshots zooming in on exact details of how things were drawn and there are like 0.3 seconds during the entire development of the game where anyone operates on instinct alone. This is even for games which I don't think were meant to be specifically retro
