no man the ice melts when enough particles slam into it. water is much more dense than air, even though they're both inert, but there's so many particles hitting the ice that it causes enough heat to melt it. sodium/salt lowers the freezing temperature of water but it doesn't melt ice, what the fuck. have you ever made ice cream??? well actually yeah i guess it does melt it but if water didn't have any salt it in it's not like it wouldn't melt the ice.
