come to dc pal, i will take you to the most authentic chinese place outside of china. you can tell it's authentic because only chinese people eat there, it has 3 tables, the bathroom is in the kitchen, and they have a chinese newspaper on each of the tables.

this sounds like any restaurant in chinatown

I'm making a vegan gouda "cheese" block...let's see how it turns out!

Also I went to a Thai place last Thursday and got hot and sour soup and it was good but had fish sauce in it :(

not here. the typical chinese food place is either gaudy fake chinese stuff like plaster dragon fountains, or american style with faux wood moulding and maybe even faux marble. all the ones I've been in were pretty big.

Isn't most Asian soup made with fish-based stock anyway?

this place looks pretty good and has really reasonable prices. looks like you found a "keeper".

I forget that there's a difference in sizes between google documents and microsoft word so my four page paper magically became a 6 page paper.  So I just overachieved on a paper I wrote primarily the hour before it was due.  Whahay!

I miss school work... All I do these days is work, play xbox, sleep, drink, eat, play hockey or snowskate occasionally and I feel like I'm doing nothing productive. I'm getting sick of pizza hut and been thinking about what I can do with my life in a shithole like Thunderbay.. where jobs these days are pretty damn hurting. Maybe I should really consider being a cop or something, sounds like decent pay and interesting enough work. jus a thought

Ethiopian food is really cool.  They have this bread that's like rubber but you use it to scoop up the food.  I went to a place in Chitown with two friends and they gave us this huge platter with the bread and the assortment of food on top you just take the bread and dip it..so good.

for some reason korean food has been spared being westernized like chinese/jap/thai/viet

meaning you'll prolly have a cold indistinguishable soup full of whatever they can throw in

Wow, I think André Bazin defined the concept of death in video games the best when he wrote in 1975 in a text about photography: "Death is only the victory of time". [my ][/my]

I can attest to this after eating at a lot of these places. I have been to South Korea and tried a few restaurants there. I also went to one in Toronto a few years back and was surprised at how remarkably similar it was. The food tasted authentic and was essentially composed of the same ingredients, but the only main difference that I recall is that you had chairs to sit in. Some restaurants there had chairs, too, but it seemed that the more authentic ones did not; either way it seems trivial since the main comparison is the food itself.

There is a building in são paulo and it's not a chinatown but it has a restaurant just like chef described, even with the chinese newspapers. You can tell it's authentic chinese because it's full of chinese people

so Butter Chicken is named for butter as in a stick of butter right? For some reason I thought it was an Indian word that happens to be spelled butter, there's another dish called Mutter something

Yeah Butter = Butter  :fogetlaugh: . But its not only butter, its like.....concentrated butter, I dont know how to explain it but lets just say it tastes amazing because of the lipid content.
And Mutter just stands for green peas. You can have it with Rice or Pita (Roti). I used to cook a lot of brown foods back in highschool, mainly to impress some girls. But what I learned stuck with me and I started enjoying making things more.

Found out that a girl I was crushing on at 12th grade has(/had??) lymph node cancer. I can't find anybody to blame, telling mythological creatures to fuck off makes me feel somewhat good but it leaves an awkward feeling afterwards so I'm not doing thatI lied. Screw you, god..
