I am aware that the practical uses of majoring in philosophy are a bit limited (teaching, law school, ???), but it's something I enjoy and have the opportunity to pursue. I feel it will help me build a stronger foundation for future academic endeavours, so it's not like it exists in a... sort of intellectual vacuum... and I hope there will be numerous chances to apply the critical reading, writing, and thinking skills that accompany it.
philosophy that APPLIES TO SHIT is generally the worst kind. let's try to use logic to determine if Men are inherently good, or inherently evil...but alas, what is evil???
All women are subtle in exaggerating their weaknesses; they are inventive when it comes to weaknesses in order to appear as utterly fragile ornaments who are hurt even by a speck of dust. Their existence is supposed to make men feel clumsy, and guilty on that score. Thus they defend themselves against the strong and the law of the jungle.
Mothers find in their children satisfaction for their desire to dominate, a possession, an occupation, something that is wholly intelligible to them and can be chattered with: the sum of all this is what mother love is; it is to be compared with an artist's love for his work. Pregnancy has made women kinder, more patient, more timid, more pleased to submit; and just so does spiritual pregnancy produce the character of the contemplative type, which is closely related to the feminine character: it consists of male mothers.
The happiness of man is, "I will." The happiness of woman is, "He wills."
"Lo! "Lo! now has the world become perfect!"- thus thinks every woman when she obeys with all her love. The woman must obey, and find a depth for her surface. Woman's soul is all surface, a mobile, stormy film on shallow water. Man's soul, however, is deep, its torrent thunders in subterranean caverns: woman feels his strength, but does not understand it. Then the old woman answered me: "Many fine things has Zarathustra said, especially for those who are young enough for them.
Strange! Zarathustra knows little about woman, and yet he is right about her! Is this because with woman nothing is impossible? And now accept a little truth by way of thanks! I am old enough for it! Swaddle it up and hold its mouth: otherwise it will scream too loudly, the little truth."
"Woman, give me your little truth!" I said. And thus spoke the old woman:
"You go to women? Do not forget the whip!"
