there's a bell at my uni (not actually figured out what building it's in actually) that, every hour on the half hour plays a song.  it's different songs, always melodies you know but not always ones you can name (though sometimes it plays like ELTON JOHN it's really bizarre).  i have no idea what purpose this serves and i would probably go crazy if i lived anywhere near it.

Oh I suppose THAT'S why :/  Actually it doesn't do this though.  It really, really creeps me out.  Elton John songs might be fun until you hear them played on bells, then every song they play sounds like a slow funeral.

to be fair it is probably the best mcdonalds i've ever been too but it's still absolute garbage because it's mcdonalds (that is the whole purpose of going to mcdonalds you go there when you crave garbage)

so I don't think 2010's is any better and probably worse than 90's etc but I think it's gotten better at like how do you QUANTIFY awfulness like things that weren't even that bad but were easier to pick out on their flaws easy to put their flaws into words now it always feels like there is some incredibly awfulness to things but nobody's assertive enough to manifest it as one obvious glaring flaw you can work into parody/etc., or satirists aren't as good anymore I dunno. but I'm very proud of myself I managed to sum up a trend of 2010's music in one short statement in the year 2010 random black guys sounding like Cher is the epitome of cool (Kanye West etc.) now every musician at the moment will be like oh god we really do sound like Cher head explodes

not that there aren't other ways of making fun of music today but it's only stuff nerds like us would get 15 minute beats made in Reason Clarky audio compression I think the Cher thing has crossover appeal into real life SNL would do it

but yeah I just want someone again who at least evokes strong enough feelings to get into heated arguments about have to either like or dismiss the person like as bad as we think Hideo Kojima was he kind of rocked the game world for a while there other supposedly 'weird' game ideas like Katamari I think are kind of spineless like Pitchfork version of Japan weirdness lol king of the sky or whatever his name is seems kind of gay/pedo or something no real strong feels like DISCOMFORT or anything though. Deadly Premoniton seems like very pure undistilled Japan weirdness/games that could only have come out of Japan this is really more vital than the 'lol weird' part and I wish the game was for PS2 or something I'd buy it in a minute

Edit: I didn't outright hate Katamari games but I never beat the one I had and maybe it would come across as some Japanese hipster game designer trying to get to his roots of being a weird Japanese game designer but he can never truly understand... like that episode of the Family Guy where Peter is at the Indian casino and has some vision quest but the Indian dudes can't pull it off and are like 'oh man I want to have visions too' maybe now we can understand Janpa better than Japan itself Katamari guy sees Barkley Shut up and Gaiden and sheds a single tear...

oh yeah speaking of Burial this is what really annoys me about the dubstep movement it's like a bunch of dudes trying to establish a cliched sound so in 3 years people can be making truly oldschool dubstep but really the idea was never that solid in the first place and it was never really there and it's all like this desparate feverish attempt by some people to have some great musical movement of their generation
