Remember the glory days of playing Worms World Party on Hamachi? Those who played with us some time ago should remember, and for others it should seem obvious how fun it was. Me and ATARI wanted to relive those days, but alas, WWP is incompatible with newer Hamachi versions and the older Hamachi versions do not work online anymore. We tried an Hamachi-esque program, but it did not work. So what do we do?
We found Hedgewars, a Worms-clone. Now, to get something straight: some of you call Gunbound a Worms-clone, but here is the difference: Gunbound is a Worms-ish game, while Hedgewars really is a Worms-clone. The menu and the game are separated, making it look and feel alot like Worms 2, but the gameplay is the very same. Movement is a little choppier, but nothing too bad. It also lacks some polish Worms had, but otherwise, it is the very same thing. Some weapons are different, while still being equal counterparts to actual Worms weapons, while others are inspired and different or outright new. Oh, and obviously, instead of playing as Worms, you play as Hedgehogs.
Some new things are very cool though, like customizing each
WormHedgehog on your team with his own hat/mask, which is something present in newer Worms games. Some level themes are also very impressive, like the Underwater levels. The level randomizer also looks better, and the game also supports custom image levels and voicepacks(although we haven't managed to make voicepacks work so far..)
Either way, Hedgewars is a really fun Worms-clone, and our backup game until Worms 2: Armageddon comes out on PC.
