Since yesterday, my PC speakers have been producing an unwanted reverb effect.  It's like everything is being played through a long hallway.  I've tried unplugging them and I've checked things out on the Control Panel, restored defaults and all that, to no avail.  I'm gonna try plugging them into my laptop to see if it's a software issue.  Does anyone know anything about this?

Some sound drivers come with different sound settings/themes, some of which are ridiculous like CAVE or DAMP DUNGEON, make sure one of these isn't turned on. Check to see if you have any software installed for this (also check taskbar) and look at the settings.

Yup, Realtek is guilty of this. Try your speakers in another source to see if the problem still exists.

I get this on creative cards too, usually checking your EAX settings or installing latest drivers will help.

I think my drivers are Realtek, I'll have to hunt them down and see what's up.

I have RealTek.

You can open the RealTek Audio Manager by clicking the icon for it in the System Tray.

Once opened, go to Sound Effect, then click the Reset button.

And that should do it.
