If anyone has questions about prescription drugs I can help out. Unfortunately we don't learn much about street drugs in Pharmacy school so I really can't help out in that regard. (We did do a random lecture about the pharmacokinetics of marijuana for some reason though... one of the weirdest classes I can remember.)

I used to do quite a few drugs during school. I still smoke weed every now and then but it used to be acid, that air spray shit, Nos, Party pills, speed, shrooms nothing really serious. Never really tried the serious stuff like Cocaine, Heroin, P, etc.

Been offered P and stuf but never found myself interested in fucking my life up over a quick fix. I don't even think you can get Cocaine in New Zealand though.

P is basically the New Zealand equivalent of Meth.

I've done pot and like cough syrup and that kind of shit as a joke, but I've never done anything for anything more than recreational use, and I don't go out of my way to find it, although if I know some people going out for a good time, I'll gladly take a hit.

What is up with aspirin and alcohol mixing together to cause stomach bleeding?  I've always wondered that.

Aspirin and other anti-inflammatories like Ibuprofen (Advil) and Naproxen (Aleve) work by inhibiting the production of prostaglandins. There are two major types of prostaglandins - those involved with pain and inflammation, which when inhibited allow for pain relief and an anti-inflammatory effect to occur. (This is what you want to happen when you take these drugs). Unfortunately, there are also prostaglandins that are involved in protecting the stomach lining from the acidic environment. These drugs also affect these prostaglandins and as a result increase your risk of ulceration. The risk is very small HOWEVER so many people use aspirin and ibuprofen regularly that it is quite a big problem.

Alcohol contributes to the problem in an indirect way by increasing the production of stomach acid and thereby aggravating an existing ulcer.
