Hey everyone, with gaming-world being a huge success partly to being open since...the beginnings of rm2k, I was just wondering how I should go about advertising a webpage.
What I plan to do is create a Gaming-network and allow users to show off there creativity, or to get a game out there.

This is not just another website that will popup and last a month or two, I don't plan on purchasing web hosting(actually a good host would be nice, anything from around $5-50 bucks would be great) It's all going to be planned out to every detail.  All staff members will also be pre-chosen Or I will hold an election of the sort, and I will not allow a popularity contest.  Then I'd hand choose my staff, probably the best way anyway.

As for the general community I just plan to have it nice, compact, and neat. And very well organized like how gaming-world is.

A Design will be posted later, probably in the arts section. But for now, all I require are tips to get a website out there and possibly known.

You could try advertising it with google ads but I wouldn't do what you plan to do because there are already a ton of sites like that (tigsource, gamejolt, etc)
Play Raimond Ex (if you haven't already)

I'll not TAKE ANYTHING you write like this seriously because it looks dumb

Do something original and unique that will draw members in.

That's kinda the plan, and I think over designed sites are just too generalized.  Look how plain Gw is and how active it is.

I do accept just about any type of game, idea etc. So that's not a problem, hmm.. gotta find/create a good theme here.

Yeah and look how many members have joined since GW went "plain".

yeah ok so you basically wanna recreate GW.

well bud i'm sorry but the golden GW age is over. the glory is gone. all that's on GW now is members who've been here since the dawn of time and people who just thought they'd register for the hell of it.

suggestion: do something that's popular and make something unique, something that makes your site better then others.

gamingw got big because there was a huge interest creating one's own snes-style jRPGs on their computer from about 00' to 06', it was new and there wasn't any myspace and shit so all us dorks who spent too much time on our computers kinda flocked to the few sites dedicated to this.

Now nobody really cares about that shit and there's already hundreds of sites that do the exact same thing that you want to. Create some new social networking utility like facebook or twitter, like a site where you can upload recordings of your farts all day with your smartphone and get a bunch of celebrities/politicians to sign up and promote it

STOP CONTRADICTING YOURSELF.

Actually, if you want to make a successful community website, you should try getting a hold of someone who's good at writing. While you might have gotten away with using terrible language back in the 90s, it's not going to do you any good today. If you don't have at least semi-professional text on your site, you'll lose your credibility very quickly.

In fact, and I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but it seems to me like you are interested in creating the kind of site that was popular a couple of years ago. If that's the case, I don't think you will succeed no matter what you try.

Wait GamingW is a success?
"I would be totally embarassed to write this, even as a fakepost. it's not funny except in how you seem to think it's good. look at all the redundancies, for fuck's sake. "insipid semantics, despicable mediocrity" ugh gross gross. I want to take a shower every time I read your prose." -Steel

Heh, here's a tip: Take everything GamingW has done over the years, and then do the OPPOSITE of that.

Actually, I'm kidding, GamingW is a quality site that only continues to grow in prestige and quality.
