I doubt anybody has really even heard about it.
I don't know, it seems like there are some pretty fast-acting channels of communication here. There have been cases of tunnels being dug for miles under the border and areas being exploited by thousands in a matter of hours so obviously it's not just a wild free-for-all. Many immigrants have family already in the US and... they do have phones in Mexico.
I am not saying a few jugs o' water are going to change any minds, but if a bunch of people got together and started doing this all over after this guy's example then it could have an impact. They aren't given many options, so even a glimmer of hope can seem like enough sometimes!
I don't understand why they need bottled water anyway, couldn't they just lick each other's backs to quench their thirst?
Except that term comes from them swimming across rivers which they are obviously not doing if they're in the desert!!! GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT "MARK"
edit: Although like I said I am just presenting another point of view I don't think it's bad to give water to thirsty dying people!
