some of you guys may remember this movie that I posted about a year and a half ago.  maybe not.  it was a while ago.  but you guys seemed to like it a little.  apparently it wasn't good enough to get me at least a C in the class (C- if you're curious) though so I had to retake it this summer.  nine in the morning for three and a half hours monday through thursday for six weeks.  it was fun.

so here is my final project for you guys.  I'm pretty proud of it.  it has its fair share of issues, like weird continuity errors (see if you can find: a tripod, a mysterious shadow, a dead man who does not appear to be dead), inconsistent lighting, and shots that I forgot to do and had to bullshit at the last minute.  also it is kind of just jokes and joke and jokes and spaghetti.  but despite those issues I like it.  let's see if you like it:

that was shot in a period of about five days fraught with script changes, reshoots, people who seemed like they wanted to just get it over with (not that they weren't great help!), and plenty of self doubt.  two days before I had to hand it in I realized that it was a piece of shit and was going in the wrong direction.  so the next day at noon I reshot a bunch of stuff by myself and changed the way that my character discovers Adam.  Adam, by the way, was gone for most of the shoot, so I had to shoot some of his stuff before he left (the intro and the close-ups of him on the bed), and the rest (every shot of me sitting on the bed) at 6:30pm the day before it was due.  and even then I forgot to do a couple shots of me saying "See what happens?" and "What?  No, he's fine," which is why both those lines are kind of awkward.  the ending was also Adam's idea because I ran out of daylight to shoot the ending that I wanted to, so that was also last minute.  I like it more than the ending I had planned, except for one thing: I absolutely should have shaved my beard for that part.  that would have been very good.  but basically the process was pretty stressful and difficult.  it also a lot of fun!  I'm pleased with the result.

so that was my final project and I think my teacher liked it.  there is no way that I'm getting less than a B in this class so I can finally take the next step and take some upper level classes.  so hopefully my next movies will be even better.

I also had a midterm project that was ok but not quite as good as I would have liked.  here it is:

I think it has its merits (I was very excited to figure out how to light a dark room) but overall I didn't have a clear idea of what I wanted and it shows.  I was kind of going for a sleep paralysis/nightmare type thing but I couldn't think of an ending and a lot of it was done last minute so it suffered from that.  I was up until four in the morning in my roommate's room (he's the one with Final Cut) editing and eventually I got frustrated because I didn't know what to do so I slipped that picture of Michael Jackson and Oprah in there.  too soon?  nah.  and of course the ending is stupid and doesn't make any sense.  either way I got a B on it so I'm not complaining.

let me know what you think!  I hope you liked them, but either way any comments and criticism would be great to hear.  there will be more to come sooner or later.  my roommates and I (Adam and Gabe, the guy wearing the ski mask/lying on the couch; they are also film majors) are working on a music video that we shot for our neighbor.  the story behind that one is fun.  as in we had to deal with all kinds of bullshit.  but it's almost done so I'll post it for you guys to see.  hopefully that will be soon.

idk I liked them, I don't know much about film. I hope you've shaved that amish beard now. I liked the line "isn't AMERICA a little patchy".

Anyone who does not post in this topic hates art and should get out of Gaming World.

Art is the highest thing in the world not no RPG Maker final fantasy chrono eternia saga bullshit man.

Yall need to help filmmakers out, people like myself and Roman.

Without the advice of an audience, or any audience at all, we're nothing. And without nothing, there are no films, and without films, Pipcaptor Hatsuya can't make his Kamen Rider fanfics and all that!

Try making the lighting as consistent as possible. Like putting tape around the light sources and marking what angle you set them at or whatever, so incase you have to go back and redo some of the scene you'll have the same light source (pretty much like doing a still life). And did you notice the tripod and not-dead body and stuff after you turned it in?

I'm aware of the inconsistent lighting, which was pretty much out of my grasp since I had to shoot at different times of day with different people, but thanks anyway.  And no, I actually noticed those errors the night before I turned it in, but by that point it was too late to do anything about it.  Nobody ever really notices the tripod anyway.  Also: it was hard reshoot stuff because every time I would say "hey guys I need to shoot this again" they would say UUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGHHHH which is very obnoxious.

imo the best shots are when your character first scans adams room and when adam has his freak out in the beginning. those all worked together really nicely. otherwise i feel like there's not much to say! lack of enthusiasm from the actors is apparent but i mean its a project for school so i can sympathize. the jokes all work, but they need direction and something to push them forward which just isn't there.

otherwise a promising effort man so long as your proud thats what counts keep em coming! will comment on second one later
