so i saw this promo on gog today: http://www.gog.com/en/page/ubiaction_promo/

PoP1 is awesome, and even though I already have it on ps2 it's not like a horrible thing to have on the PC. Anyways, I've heard lots of really good things about BGE. Basically my question is twofold:

1) have you played it? if so, is it good? would you recommend it as a game you should definitely play?

2) should I get it used on ps2? I'm sure it'd be basically the same price (probably 10-15 bucks at gamestop)

I'm probably going to get this for sure regardless of whether you think its good or not, and i'll probably get it on the ps2, but if theres any overwhelming reasons to get it with the gog special for PC then i'll perhaps do that. I think i'd rather play it on ps2 though.

It's an awesome game, but yeah, get it on PS2. It's the same game, and on PC it doesn't even have built in gamepad support.

I actually just starting playing Beyond Good and Evil for the first time and I'm about 2/3 hours into it and I am enjoying it a lot so far! It's like a mix between Metal Gear/Sly Cooper/Pokemon Snap with some adventure game elements. The gameplay is fun and the music is awesome. I love the exotic latin/french music. I'm playing it on the PS2 and the game is great looking.. although I've heard the other platforms look better, but having not seen them I don't feel like I'm missing out at all.

Oh God yes get it. It is pretty much the best 3D platformy adventure game there is in terms of story, gameplay, sidequests etc.

Get it for PS2 if you can, the PC version is known to be very buggy - after much, much much tweaking I got the GOG version working flawlessly on Vista but it would have been much easier to dust off my PS2.

However, with the GOG version you get the soundtrack as a free download - and it all works. The soundtrack Ubisoft released back when the game came out was glitchy and full of artifacts, so this reason alone made me repurchase it on GOG.

Well you can use a gamepad, but you have to use external programs like Xpadder or something.

Beyond Good and Evil was a great game. It had an awesome world, an awesome story and characters that were worth giving a damn about. I found it a little short. I finished the story in about 4 days, but then again I played it nonstop (which for me is rare) so it might not be THAT short. Get it, definitely.

so i played the game for a bit and i think its pretty fucking amazing. I cannot wait to play the whole thing, but something is wrong with this disc I bought. The sounds basically don't work at all, like whenever there's a cutscene or anything the wrong soundfile is played and it's like looped, and all the sounds loop over each other and it starts sounding really trippy. It's practically unplayable, especially since I'm missing all the good dialogue and stuff, so I'm gonna have to return it and get a good copy.

But holy shit the game fucking rules!! Everything about it is so smooth, the storyline (even though I only played for like 2-3 hours) is really good, the dialogue is good, the gameplay is good, the voice acting is pretty superb; i mean all-around awesome game.

Gabriel, if you haven't completed the game yet I have one piece of advice for you - save in multiple slots! I just got a game breaking glitch happen to me - Double H completely disappeared from the map and now I can't get back an elevator (and I'm at the end of the game too!). I wish someone would have warned me about this bug, because now I can't finish the game (and there's no way I want to redo everything after putting in 6 hours into it. Maybe I'll just watch a video of the ending and pretend I got there..)

aw man that sucks! I have already been saving in multiple slots just to be safe. It only took you 6 hours to reach the end?

Maybe play it on easy mode so it'll go by quicker?

Well I finished it on PC and it didn't kill me.

But yeah it's a pretty good game, you can also look into Anachronox for something slightly similar.

I just started playing this game today on ps2. Freaking brilliant. It's a crying shame it wasn't better promoted. It's almost epic on Zelda proportions. Almost. Its a great game, compelling characters, fun gameplay. A real masterpiece that could've used just a little polish and some good marketing and it would have been a hit.
