So, I just installed Linux Mint 7 "Gloria" Gnome Last night, and am using it as my main os at this time..
I installed VLC... that's about it.. I'm also having a problem playing stage6 videos that stream in totem, mplayer and vlc... they just don't want to work.
What are some good applications for Media, and etc...?

By the way, Linux Mint is based off of ubuntu..

I saw it featured in the Linux magazine awhile ago. Looked nice.

I can't think of any biggies, except for maybe Wine. As for your media problem, there should be plenty of threads online to look at. Newer distros tend to have problems like this so I'm sure there's a tutorial waiting for you somewhere.

In terms of media apps, I find Exaile pretty good as a music player. In general, this site which I used to find a note-taking application that did what I wanted a few weeks ago looks like it would be pretty useful to beginners. The list they maintain is actually reasonably comprehensive.
