Hey guys, I'm back.  I graduated the morning before last and arrived here in Charleston (Naval Nuclear Power Training Command) last night.  I'm really confused right now, trying to find places and get around without a car.  Seems like a decent place, though. 

It appears I have a lot of catching up to do.  I'm reading over the Steel threads right now.  This is pretty tragic. 

Anyway, I'm starting an indoctrination process tomorrow before I get into classes.  Feel free to ask questions about boot camp or the program.

I did get to fire the M9 Service Pistol, though.  I had a lot of fun with that, so I'll probably hit up the shooting range one weekend. 

I'm getting a feel for the base, and it's pretty cool so far.  My SLPO is really cool, he gave us an indoctrination brief today.  I'm thinking it will be a few weeks until I even class up, and once I do that, it will be 4 weeks until I "phase up" with the freedom to wear civies, more relaxed liberty weekends, etc.  I'm hearing a lot of things about the Electronics Technician rating (my rating) being particularly stressful to learn.  I guess I'll find out.  I'm going to have to take learning very seriously in the coming months.

Today we started some of the "work" we'll be doing until we class up.  After mustering, we newbies cleaned the same building for about 4-5 hours.  My friend from basic and I scrubbed one stretch of sidewalk over and over again for this duration.  A guy at lunch said that nukes complain endlessly about anything and that makes a lot of sense.  Some people can bitch about doing hours of busy work, but when you consider the opportunity to get paid to get a great education, it's nothing to complain about.  There are many people that would scrub the hell out of a deck for half of what we're making here.  I'm seeing every day the importance of "staying positive."  Your situation is entirely what you make of it.
