Reminds me of early shows with my band. I was wearing a black dress shirt with a red tie, and my hair had grown back from a clipper job almost a year earlier into a half devil-lock/emo-curl. When my best friend came out to one of our shows, he took me aside and in all seriousness grabbed my shoulders and shouted "STOP LISTENING TO AFI!!!!" at me.

good point UG.  I was actually looking for something a bit more scene than the emo picture you have above.

There is only one thing you ever need to know about being emo: The goal is to be as different from everyone else as possible, by looking and acting exactly like every single other emo person you are aware of.

That being said, in the digital age of free information, it's not very hard to know how to look the part.

you know, i really hate it when people say that emo kids look the same as everyone else not because it isn't true (because it is totally true) but its because people seem to think it is some big deal or that we should care about it or something!  Like I don't give a shit and don't mind then because i dunno they can make their own decisions and I don't think I need to be the one who says ahaha you look like a tool to their face.  Hell they know they look like a tool but if it wasn't working for them maybe they would change.   tallest blade of grass gets cut down first anyways

emo kids don't look goth at all. in fact I have never met an emo kid that dresses like a scene kid. most of the people I know that are full on emo dress similar to the bands that they listen to (most emo music is very mellowed down punk rock anyway)

i'm not dressing up to make fun of them, just for lauffs because people know i don't normally dress/look like that.  It has nothing to do with making fun of emo kids, just making myself look like one because people will think its ridiculous
