Fairy Tail (フェアリーテイル, Fearī Teiru?) is a Japanese manga series by Hiro Mashima. It has been serialized in Weekly Shōnen Magazine since August 23, 2006 where it is still on-going. The individual chapters are being collected and published in tankōbon volumes by Kodansha, with 16 released as of August 2009. An anime produced by A-1 Pictures and Satelight was released in Japan on October 12, 2009.[1] The series follows the adventures of the sorceress Lucy Heartfilia after she joins the Fairy Tail Guild and partners with Natsu Dragneel, who is searching for the dragon Igneel.

The series was licensed for an English language release in North America by Del Rey Manga, which began releasing the individual volumes on March 25, 2008.

Well I've been reading the manga for quite some time now. Its on Chapter 155 now. Does Anyone else read it?

The manga has so much potential. It has a very One Piece-esque feel to it. Theres comedy, action, ridiculous super powers, and a lot of pervyness.
I just finished watching the first episode. This is my first time reading a manga piece which was turned into anime right before my eyes. It feels weird cus I have mixed feelings over the anime. Well first, they really really fucked up the voice overs. Natsu sounds like some old guy. Second, they added random bullshit that wasnt supposed to be there (for example, a dragon appearing while Natsu does his move). Usually I love watching new anime, but after manga, the anime really doesnt do justice to the story and what you envision in your head.

Ah well. Has anyone else read the manga / seen the first episode?

that is what makes it appealing. I want something that only uses elements taken from things I have seen before, but with characters that have different names. it's gotta FEEL like an anime, you know?

really though does the whole thing look exactly like one piece or is it just the manga covers? because that is one of my least favorite styles of anything ever and seeing it gives me a nearly violent reaction. I hate your avatar too.

Also I'm told by my bro that there where a few times when the dragon did appear in the manga after an attack... but your right it doesn't always happen like the anime shows. BTW he is also upset about the voice overs but my bro is happy with happy's voice over.

i have to admit, the main character needs a voice with a higher pitch, it sounded wierd.

BTW Brown I have made a educated guess That the dragon did not just dispersed but instead resides in Natsu Dragneel.   do you think I'm right.

this is going to sound ultra bad but one piece is like the least worse anime/manga in the shonen area and i don't think this looks anything like one piece at all. shaman king comes into mind? uhhh perhaps the colouring/linework in anime reminds of one piece anime? originally i really didn't like the one piece style and i guess i thought it was childhish and awkward but right now it's pretty much the only popular manga i consider to have any ANY worth at all to watch even as an entertainment. i just hate looking at one piece anime, it looks really different from manga and it looks dumb as hell! Oda is a really good drawer. i do hate brown's avatar though.

that's a really cluttered and inconsistent paragraph but i guess i mean to say that one piece gets too much undeserved shit though that might be because of the ANIME rather than the manga which rules.

also if this hasn't been clarified yet i'd like to underline it: this looks really generic as hell and it seems really similiar to lot of other popular titles.

Anime is obviously being held back by corporate mechanisms that don't give these series the freedom to communicate what their manga counterparts endow to their true fans.

We seriously need to do something about this. Our shoen is at stake!
