So basically about every 3-10 minutes i will get a message that says "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142). Click on OK to terminate the application."

i click ok but when i open the task manager i have about a billion notepad.exe operation sin there that i didnt even start, so whats going on here? it isn't really bogging my computer down much but i can notice a slight dip in performance because of this, plus its just annoying as hell. Popped up three times making this topic. Please Someone Help!

try closing the notepads and don't open so many at one time. even if you're working on multiple things you shouldn't need more than a few open at once.

you might want to check the location of that notepad.exe (it should be using around ~3000k on XP and under the Christopher user name) also if you see near the bottom there's a notaped.exe which might be a malicious .exe spawning all of the instances

Looks like an annoying virus that's just opening notepads. Try a virus scan. Also try starting in safe mode and see if the problem persists.
