So it comes out in the USA November 17th and I plan on getting it. I remember reading articles in many game magazines about how the main character was not in this second one, but they add new stuff, fixed the repetitive stuff so I guess I can let it sly.

Any one else waiting for this game?

How do you mean the main character not being in the second one? Altair or Desmond are you refering to? Because Altair obviously wasn't going to be in it from the start because they'd have to stick with the same time period (you could kinda tell from the original's story alone that they were going to cover a bunch of time periods...)

But yes, I am waiting for it (20th in Europe though) even though it means I'm getting it the same day as L4D2 and it also means I will not be able to play it the day after as I'm going to a gig.

I was also a sucker for the first, pretty much everyone I knew didn't really like it but for some reason I LOVED it. Probably for the atmosphere, which was amazing imo

I liked actually playing AC1, but they can't tell very good stories. In fact they are pretty ass at telling stories. The whole sci-fi part should have been kept secret 'til the end, where you have to use your assassin powers to escape.

But yeah, like I said I did enjoy playing it, so I'll probably give AC2 a whirl around the time it comes out.

I sure hope they got rid of that sci-fi stuff. I don't think it blended well! It's already out on PSP.

I bought the 1st one right, I just got bored real quickly. Then uncharted 2 came out and I just gave up i guess.

When I have time I will attempt both of these.

I rented the first game when it was relatively new and had quite a bit of fun with it. The biggest problem I had with the game is that it got repetitive very quickly. Towards the end, all you really had to do was breath and a horde of sword wielding guards were breathing down your neck trying to lob your head off. I had my fun with it, and I enjoyed looking at the game, but I never bothered to buy it.

I fully plan on renting AC2 to get a feel for the game and if I like it, I may pick it up.
Check it out! I'm doing NaNoWriMo this year!

I'm definately getting this game. Just looks to be so much better, mostly the economy system, smarter AI, and more variation is what I'm looking forward to. I also didn't mind the first, like the first hour or so of the game you were like "Holy fuck this game is awesome" but after a while you started to notice your doing some kind of routine that your faced with through the entire game.

The atmosphere was great though.

That may be so, but I have not played the game in sometime and never played it long enough to beat it. And yes I was referring to Altair.

they wore that in the renaissance because of flu and shit like that. It's basically a gas mask.

Also this is the same game. You just get armor and upgrades this time. That is the only difference. It's still repetitive but they try to mask it by teaching you shit throughout the whole game and by giving you upgrades. The mission structure is the same.

I got this on my PSP, the sci-fi stuff is the same. It's pretty much the first game with a few extras. Practically what Neophyte said!

So it's not worth getting then?
A tool is a tool regardless. I mean if you suck, you suck, and not even the most perfect tool could save you. And if your damn good then even with the worst tool ever conceived you could chug out some high quality shit.

If you like AC1, you will like it

If you hate AC1, you will hate it.

And be prepared to not do a single assassination for the first 2 hours. This game takes hours before it gets good. It's like kingdom hearts 2 where you do all the roxas stuff. I'm not kidding.

God damn it this sounds fucking terrible. I was really hoping they would have fixed the abominable repetitious nature of the first game. I'll still try it out I guess, but that legitimately irritates me.

Yeah its one of those games you start playing and like an hour goes by and you realize you're not even having fun
