Two options- First, as Rockman said, you can use f5 and f4 to change the window while playing to 2 different sizes- be warned that the mid-size window causes some lag. also, next to the "Test play Arrow is a button that can be used to toggle Full-Screen test play on and off. It has an X-shaped group of arrows on it. Mind you, I'm not certain either of those is quite the dimensions you want, but both are smaller than fullscreen.
