anyone got baseball posts? I want this to be a friendly and fun environment for all ball fans. you're safe here as long as you're into the BW. who do you like, which teams are looking good this season? who cares about baseball at all?

my home team is the phillies. they just got back from a kinda nuts game at san francisco that went into the 11th inning w/ starting pitchers cole hamels and tim lincecum. pretty sure these links will start playing highlights if you're interested a a.

right now they're half a game behind the mets in the NLE but hopefully that will be fixed when they play em back here in philly tomorrow. the team's defense is still pretty fantastic (in the phillies video you should eventually get to a nuts double play from one of the giants games) but their offense has been lacking and their pitching could be more consistent. enough about them let's hear about some more teams. go teams go te

i am supporter of the baltimore orioles. i am petitioning the local government of baltimore to change the team name to the BALTIMORE TESTICLES STOMPED BY ANGRY BLACK MEN

i am hoping that the orioles break the record for most losses ever in a season, which is held by the 1899 cleveland spiders. they are slightly behind the pace but they have a bunch of fat fucks in the bullpen who love to give up home runs, and a bunch of mexican guys who do not understand what the strike zone is, so i am hoping that they all cowboy up and break the record.

GO ORIOLES!!! TESTICLES SMASHED!!!

I really like baseball. And the Orioles will never be good unless Albert Belle comes back from retirement (lol) and cal ripken jr.

My home team is The Rockies. Not the best team, but I support them.

i also support the baltimore orioles. this is because the only think i know about american baseball teams is that my favourite shirt when i was 10 was an orioles baseball shirt. i was very reluctant to take it off. i occasionally have pangs to become interested in baseball, but it doesn't make any sense being in new zealand. closest I get to baseball is wii sports.

i don't really care about baseball too much, but i was pretty pumped when those red sox won the world series for the first time in 70-something years. i guess because of my dad primarily, but it's still fun to root for a team. (i had basically fallen asleep by the end of the game as i was younger at the time but he sure woke me up with celebratint)

a lot of people outside america are american baseball fans biggles, granted they are generally from countries that have players on american teams. still no one will blame you if you wanna watch another sport besides netball and rugby

orioles have been winning, they just got a sweep of the red sox. looks like they won't be breaking any records this year

johan santana gave up a grand slam to victorino !! phillies got their offense back. also the first grand slam I've seen

only the 5th inning but it's 11-5 and it'd be really cool if they could unexpectedly end this series ahead of the mets

Baseball is great. There's a lot of interesting history and overall MLB is doing really well. This is because it's run by a bunch of nepotistic, super-capitalists, though, and there are organizations that basically try to put out as cheap a "team" as possible so they can pocket revenue sharing. Also, the ownership is really good at making the players look like criminals for wanting more millions while they get to be part of the most successful american sport right now!

That stuff is just a reality though (the MLBPA is a pretty effective Union and does a lot to keep the owners in check) and doesn't detract too much from enjoying the game. The game is cool because you can look at all the statistics and junk and/or live in a game to game mindset, celebrating when your scrappy white short stop hits his first and last dinger of the season

I watch probably 5 or 6 Twins games a week. The team produces pitchers who do not issue walks which saves a lot of frustration, though their staff isn't great. Liriano is making a comeback which is nice. Their offense looks solid, a good blend of sluggers and OBP machines, and of course Joe mauer. Their front office has been pretty poor, with trades like the Garza or Johan swaps netting virtually nothing of value (Delmong Young is a free swinging assshole) but had a good off season.

They are spending more than previously, have a cool new stadium I hope to get home to see, and have some fortune. Denard Span is probably my favorite player right now, he basically was shit in the minors, got lasik eye surgery, and in 2+ mlb seasons looks to be one of the most discerning players at the plate in the majors.

The Twins do have some flaws, and constantly winning a shit division seems to encourage fans that small ball or w/e is where their strength is and a historically bad front office is a few terrible contracts away from putting themselves in a tight spot. They are also one of two MLB teams that do not have a department dedicated to statistical analysis, and to appease the writers and fans whining about this, they brought someone in. A week later it was revealed this was just an internship hah

minnesota what are you doing all the way out there?? this is the first time I've ever encountered anyone from that part of the country

I agree about watching baseball, all the stats and player history is what really drew me in this season. I ususally don't get the channel the ball game is on since I only have basic cable, but I usually keep tabs on the game with mlb.com's scoreboard and gameday if I'm at a computer or if not I get text message alerts on my phone. baseball forever

From my view, baseball stadiums are already churches.

Twins rock, Twins and Tampa Bay are the best teams in baseball this year. I'm a Twinkies fan so that's my bias, but even without Nathan they've been dominating. They're also one of the few teams that do it right.  I'm also from New Britain, CT home of the rock cats double -A affiliate of the Twins.

Punto is underrated.
