What did everybody think about it?

Personally I really loved it.  The last couple of episodes were only 'pretty good', so I kind of prepared myself to be underwhelmed by the super epic 2 and a half hour long TV event.  But I ended up really loving it, even the last 5-10 minutes with

But anyway, I was just curious what all the GW regulars (I remember seeing a LOST topic during S5, but I dunno how devoted everyone is to it) thought about it.

the flash sideways was clearly but I'm not so sure about the island being

but if you are supposed to believe the island was that feels like a cheap escape. a lot of things don't ADD UP. they expanded too far, included too many characters and side stories outside the oceanic flight people. they also left a lot of loose ends, and neglected a lot of things they promised the viewers they'd tie up eg michael's kid and his POWERS and the lying woman

it does make the role of the much better in terms of his relationship with Jack

the explanation of Jacob and his brother was pretty stupid

to sum up the series, they just stalled way too much and tried too many stupid things. it could have been a pretty ok series if they had kept on track. if the island is just think of all the stupid superfluous side stories they led us through. moving the island, leaving the island and coming back, the temple people, the h bomb, the scientists blearfugh most of the series was just a useless diversion. they either had no idea what they were doing with most of these stories or how they'd fit in to the big picture, or they tried to milk the series as long as they could without regard. either way, it doesn't make a very good television show

a stupid disorganized post is all this deserves!!

Oh no no, I meant the flash sideways was .  They spelled that part out pretty clearly at the end.  One of the few mysteries they gave a pretty definitive answer for.  I agree that it didn't answer a lot, but as I watched the finale I pretty much thought "yeah that other stuff doesn't really matter to me anymore".  Admittedly, it's going to cheapen the series as a whole when I watch it all the way through on DVD, but as of now, I couldn't really care less that they didn't answer stuff about Walt, and or anything like that.

Basically.  Chuck and Supernatural are all I have left.

I watched it. All. I'm glad it's over. Should have been like 3 series max. Why aren't there any programmes that just tell their story in one series with idk a bit of brevity??? That shit's the soul of wit. I'll tell you why in three words: $, $ and $.

yay we're privileged uppermiddleclass kids who have lots of spare time to analyze all the devices/dirty tricks/whatever some tv show uses to make it seem DEEP and shit let's revel in it r.i.p. lousy show good riddance

also big ass skelly if you're british yeah you have some good shows but can they be a little longer than like... 8 episodes long. I mean yeah brevity but why did you even bother to make a show in the first place if it's like... shorter than some commercials? And lots of animes are like this too 13 episodes or even shorter that OVA shit that isn't necessarily a mark of quality I mean it does mean NOT NARUTO but is that really saying much of anything. I will admit though what set anime apart from other stuff when I was like 13 was I did like how the entire series had a story and each episode hopefully had something to do with this main plot and some were even just like a movie (not necessarily a good movie) cut up into half-hour chunks. Outside of anime itself I do like this format where it feels like things are progressing and developing and not just a reset every episode

lol just thought I'd mention it

Edit: I'm still sticking with 24 for some reason it's like the only show my dad is 'into' at that sort of level where you can talk about it as conversation and this year hasn't been that bad it's kind of a parody of itself by now. Like evil blonde mole lady is so obviously evil and that Nixon-looking guy has suddenly become the joker like Jack hops onto his limo to smash the window open or whatever and he points and goes THAT'S JACK BAUER!!! (supermans#1) It's still better than like doctor shows Lost doesn't even look entertaining

I don't think there's many british shows worth watching, maybe there are I don't watch tv really. Lost really didn't need to be six series but if it wasn't like you say there'd be way more Upper Middle Class kids just roaming the streets because they don't have enough Phallus symbolism to write a lostwiki page. Plus the working class kids wouldn't have anything to aspire to during their hard days in the mines.

yeah I dunno a couple years ago I got THE LEAGUE OF GENTLEMEN on DVD and that was pretty good but having it in my hands I didn't realize that it was only like 10 episodes long I think. Maybe 18 or something but pretty short and that's only 6 episodes a series/season I don't understand how british tv works

originally I thought 24 would be over after the first season like not that there was PRECEDENT before that they wouldn't milk a popular series but I thought maybe... maybe this time it would be different also the whole CONCEPT of the show is kind of obsolete and ridiculously implausible by the second season. But I think it's sort of shifted to just being ENTERTAINMENT and not ooo super deep shitman like Prison Break got sucky but still never bought into it's ridiculousness so much it felt like some Lost-type thing. I don't even know how Prison Break ended how did it end. If anything Prison Break was like taking a STAND against ridiculous plothole twisting turning-storyline porn shows like Lost and 24. Prison Break is like yeah you guys have played too many rpgs and are conditioned to think like some bald dude with a scar is automatically going to be an IMPORTANT character who will reveal amazings things we will have like 12 weird bald dudes with scars and fucking d.b. cooper and also we will write the real abraham lincoln into our show because we have a dude named Lincoln try and beat that Lost

The ending of lost wasn't disappointing because I expected it to be a disappointment...

IDK, it just felt like lazy writing. REALLY lazy. The first 3 seasons were good, 4 was awful, 5 was OK, 6 started out OK and then the ending made all 6 seasons seem incredibly pointless.

On the other hand, Fringe's story is finally ceasing to suck. It's actually become, like a story, rather than weird shit of the week.

J.J. Abrams apparently had little to nothing to do with seasons 2-6 of Lost according to a friend of mine. Don't know his source though so I can't confirm that.

When you look at it that way, the fact that they never explained the numbers well, or what exactly the nature of the smoke monster was, didn't seem too important for me.

I've been seeing a lot of people going like "Oh! It's totally okay that they didn't explain [Gaping ][/Gaping] and [y]!"

I think its because everybody has put it behind them because they happened like 3 seasons ago.   You've forgotten about them and you've stopped caring about them.  It's none of this, oh its not IMPORTANT to have even the slightest understanding of [important ][/important] because I forgot about it.   Fuck you lost writers.  You let the show drag on and somebody slapped a due-date one you and you just tried to do damage control for a season.
