i really wonder out of all the people 4chan harass as if it's a noble cause how many of those people are the wrong person.  internet detectives aren't really that reliable.  i want to know an exact ratio.  i mean even if it is the right person they're horrible douchebags for harassing anyone but man i really want to know how many people they do this to that are the wrong person.

Yaeh, 4chan is a scary creature. They can go ahead and destroy your internet life and attack you in the real life too without too much trouble.

Back when Gawker talked about the Jessi Slaughter thing, they attacked the site and harassed the guy who wrote the article. Hell, they harassed a psychologist who showed up on a morning news show on ABC (I think) to talk about internet bullying in relation to the Slaughter situation. They never even mentioned 4chan. If reports are to be believed, and it wouldn't surprise me of /b/, they said they should start attacking random people who post comments on those tv stations websites. That's goddamn cyber-terrorism.

yeah I like when stuff like this comes up like even people like GW which I thought was smart like 90% of the responses are like complete lack of critical thinking skills or something akin to that lynch mob mentality etc. lets hang him by his balls/castrate him seems to be the most popular response. I'm not going to watch it btw

but yeah basically all of you should be protesting meat industry being activists but easier to post 'this guy are sick' on an internet forum regardless of meat industry or not there are probably like 100 people right now doing stuff on the same level as this just maybe not evil young girl yeah that part is tragic but yeah internet is like 'stuff that everybody thought they had the capacity to imagine happening already and were living their lives based on 'X happens' then some video footage of it pops up and everyone is taken totally off guard'

maybe I'm misinterpreting everyone didn't everyone already imagine shit like this happens just that usually people have the sense not to film it


I don't really know the story behind 4chan but just saying it makes sense that it does exist it's like internet rage instead of road rage. The whole going vigilante on people part of it

Edit: I was trying to make some legitimate point like it feels like our culture has to be reminded every two seconds about awful things if they're not bludgeoned over the head with it (e.g. this video) and nobody can like properly assess how big of a deal anything is anymore (if it's on a youtube video it's the biggest deal I guess newspaper is like 2nd 3rd to last). Not so much just this thing also the mosque not even a mosque which probably won't do anything very positive or negative either way by existing. But yeah just the whole idea because it's OBVIOUS animal cruelty and not sort of vague or in a newspaper article is a reason to target this one person it's kind of weird and creepy to me even if she is sick fuck like she's still vulnerable and unsuspecting why don't you go after some awful skinhead-type people internet I'm probably reiterating stuff by now

I'm sort of hoping internet will have some tipping point/people actually have some capacity for being shocked and finally people will get their priorities straight being able to react entirely on the practical side of things and not vent on a youtube page for a couple of hours but probably not

What did I do wrong I never said "hang that bitch" other then trying to make bad joke witch is the norm around me. Example (skiping puppies instead of lobing them)

also ragnar i dont think its actual surprise at this stuff so much as uh a general inclination to wallow in outrage (which i can only assume is the reason someone made a topic literally linking to a video of puppies being killed). i'm not judging i used to browse the political cartoon thread on somethingawful and was basically disgusted by something new every day and then realised (a) this probably wasnt healthy or good at all and (b) i was being sucked into forming opinions on literally meaningless issues and events and (c) sharing the collective outrage of some gross internet guys was probably making me a worse person so i quit. i think what marge said might be good in the sense that stuff like this is only worthwhile in the sense of some uh general project or outlook on the world so that youre not just reacting blindly to whatever garbage comes on the news like some kind of mouse. idk i dont really care about animal rights stuff or this topic either sorry
