there is none. Duke Nukem is 90s incarnate. keep in mind that this project was started in 1997, and 3D Realms were under threat of lawsuit if they didn't actually deliver a product.

Well from that gameplay video alone it looks better than 90% of the shitty FPSes out today. Which isn't hard to do at all because everybody has a 1 track mind when it comes to the genre and they are all linear as fuck with no major appeal other than multiplayer. I can't think of a decent single player FPS that has come out since Half Life 2.

crysis and call of duty games i suppose. can't think of anything else.

anyway i saw some new video on gametrailers and to my surprise this actually seems pretty good.

It'll make a change from "serious" shooters like CoD and MoH and it'll be worth playing for the nostalgia factor if nothing else. Still, I won't believe it is finished until I see it in store.

Metro 2033, the Half Life Episodes (I guess). The ones DS said except they're more examples of mechanics pulled off really well than good single player games.

I hate all these spooky Gears of Wars shit where everything's all greyed out post-apocalyptic super-serious I didn't see much of GoW to be honest if it's very tongue-in-cheek that's good but all of these new FPS games don't seem very BEYOND themselves/their premise I don't mean like just sarcasm all the way I mean just in a way where there's no rules and you can just do whatever the fuck you want with it

the situation isn't probably that bad I remember a lot of early 2000s stuff as being 90s

please tell me if I'm wrong that in actuality people think of Gears of War like MORTAL KOMBAT was in 90s just so over-the-top and I dunno even when it was all CONTROVERSY I think janet reno did something didn't people still joke/not take Mortal Kombat so seriously? I didn't see enough in Gears of War to crack jokes about like an over-the-top atmosphere/premise without that sort of feeling like 'this is my game and I'm sticking with it if I make an ass of myself so be it'

COD singleplayer is just Tom Clancy bullshit but I guess they are fun to play or something. I never played Crysis but I never heard anything amazing about it besides the graphics. What's so special about Metro 2033? I'm not trying to critique games I haven't played I'm genuinely curious if I should try them out.
