Right. i just moved to my uni accomdation, got comp all up and running, i run crysis to get some game time in and it's lagging like dead horse. Thing is before i left for uni it ran Perfectly fine on the highest of settings, now it stutters like reginald barkly. what could be doing it?

i know the GPU is getting full power since the PSU is a single rail 50v, and i whilst i was slightly overclocking it i set it back to factory defualts and nadda. so what could it be to make a game go from fine one moment and then crappy the next?

spec:

cpu: Phennom X6 1090t black edition, oc'd to 3.7 ghz (i have the corsair hydro 50)
ram: 8GB G.Skill ripjaw (i have a Corsair GT dualchannel ram cooler over the top)
GPU: ASUS 5850TOP
mobo: ROG Chrosshair forumla IV
PSU: 700w coolermaster sillent pro

it can't be temp as i'ts all running cool. and i really can't work out what could be doing it so any ideas?
RIP DoktorMartini

When you say lagging do you mean frame rate wise or in multiplayer online?

well obviously something happened to your pc. if your pc is still operating normally, maybe a fan (or fans) broke and your cpu/gpu heat is getting too high for games to run properly. and it can be temp, i had a similar problem with my old pc. i could use my pc normally but when i was playing any system heavy game, my cpu's temperature would go up to 95C because the fan wasn't working properly which made my computer freeze and games lagged a lot. unless you actually checked the temperature while running the game, then i don't know what the problem is. the first thing you want to do is to very thoroughly clear any dust inside your computer.

And Crysis is the highest game that can push anyones computer to it's limits.

I'ts not temp, that seams to stay at around 60 even overclockered and i'ts the same in MultiPlayer, i tried low settings (which incidently are worse FPS then what it was before when it ran flawlessly at max settings), meds settings, i downloaded the AMD optimizer. no matter what i do it lags, and just to clarify i'ts graphical lag, not net lag.

EDIT: further evidence it's not the graphics card, it runs DA smoothly, i realise it isn't a fair comparison, but it still runs fine, if it were the graphics card, then it would lag on everything once it hit a tempreture.

Your so wrong I will have wikipedia do my lite work.

"Crysis is often used as a benchmark in computer tests, as Crysis at the highest settings and resolutions required processing power from computers that was unfeasible when it was first released. In its time the game was so demanding on previous computer hardware that the catchphrase "Yeah, but can it run Crysis?" was frequently added to graphics card reviews.[25]"

and when you do that you will be lucky to get it passed 30 FPS  I seen the best ATI cards crossefireX and put on this test I think the high was 33-35 FPS area.

actually if you want a benchmark game, try final fantasy 14. not because it's as good looking as crysis but because it's optimized so awfully that it's a lot more demanding and needs insanely good pc to even run decently.

GTA4 is another game that was optimised so badly it requires a NASA computer to run.

As has been stated above, there are games that need better hardware to run well than Crysis does.

Hobo is right, sure Crysis is still a demanding game but not as much as it once was; one because hardware has finally caught up with it and two becuase there are other games that require more power to run, i think (correct me if im wrong) bad company might be one for example.

FF14 yes but grand-theft auto 4 can be ran at 60 fps if you have the best and crossfire them so yes your right because of a new game (FF!4) that came out quite recently.

GTA4 runs a lot worse on my system than Crysis does. And on lower settings, too.
